Grahame Posted May 11, 2012 Report Posted May 11, 2012 World's first 384 kHz converter, phono stage preamp and headphone amplifier with an integrated atomic clock Rubidium Atomic Clock Rubicon is the first DAC to integrate a Rubidium atomic clock, which is 100,000 times more stable than a traditional crystal oscillator. Coupled with Antelope’s 64-bit Accoustically Focused Clocking technology, the Rubidium achieves a breakthrough in jitter managment, improving the sound quality in an unprecedented way. The same technology is implemented in the company’s flagship master clocks used for scoring blockbusters such as Avatar and available at the best recording and mastering studios around the Globe. http://antelopeaudio...ic-AD-DA-Preamp Quote
swt61 Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I can only imagine the cost, but I must say I'm intrigued with the aesthetics. Quote
Tari Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 Marcel from Antelope said it should run about 10K. Quote
pigmode Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 I'm intrigued by the rubidium clock in a less ostentatious (and cheaper) implementation. Quote
skullguise Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 I'm sure it's better science, but this sounds too much like Ruthenium, a la Ultrasone..... Quote
Tari Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Well, it appears the "official" price is in: http://app.audiogon....eamp-integrated Confirmed this was the actual price with authorized dealer. Edited May 17, 2012 by Tari Quote
aardvark baguette Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 i like their pro audio look better than the 3 sea shells or whatever that is on top. Quote
spritzer Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Makes MSB and dCS look cheap by comparison. Quote
blubliss Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Not the MSB DAC IV Diamond . MSB is out for me since I was supposed to get a demo, the dealer here never came through and the main rep also flaked out after I asked for a copy of the latest review in HiFi Critic (Vol5/No4 OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2011). It compared the Metrum favorably to the MSB DAC IV, guess they didn't like that. Why can't audio sales people be honest? As for Antelope, another Eastern European company, owned some of their clocks before, wouldn't buy anything again. Quote
