Apparently, I'm the only one of us going...but, rather than subject y'all to a bunch of random comments in the drinking thread, I figured I'd go ahead & start my own...

Here are some of the known details courtesy of http://hoosierbeergeek.blogspot.com/:

Dark Lord Day 2012

Tomorrow is Dark Lord Day Eve, and if you were lucky enough to snag a ticket in that 4 minute window in March, you're starting to get as excited as a kid on your way to Disney World. The pre-event exposure this year has been a lot lower, but we'll try to put together all the information we know in one convenient spot for you.

Weather

  • High of 45
  • 70% chance of precipitation

    Band Lineup
    • Argonauts
    • Powermad (featuring Todd Haug, Surly's head brewer)
    • Eyehategod
    • High on Fire (were listed as Ghan Jovi)

      Dark Lord Wax Color
      • RED

      Guest Taps Provided By

      [*]Firestone Walker

      [*]Upland

[*]New Albanian Oaktimus and Rye Barrel Aged Yakima

      [*]Haymarket

      [*]Sun King

      [*]Hitachino

      [*]Schlenkerla

      [*]Schneider

      [*]Birra Del Borgo

      [*]New Belgium

      [*]Stone

      [*]People's

      [*]Sierra Nevada

      [*]Left Hand

      [*]Brugge

      [*]Schlafly

      Rules of the Day

[*]A ticket is required to attend Dark Lord Day.

[*]Dark Lord Day is always CASH ONLY. ATMs are on site and routinely run out of money during the day.

[*]Last year the bottle limit was 4 per person, at $15 each. This is always revealed on Dark Lord Day, but it's handy to use the previous year as a budget guideline.

[*]Parking will be at a premium - carpool if possible. No RVs.

[*]Either have a DD come pick you up or have a plan to get sober before you leave.

[*]Bring water or Gatorade, hydration is key.

      [*]No pets or kids.

[*]This isn't a tailgating event anymore, so keep your tents, coolers, grills, etc. at home. If you want to bring in beer to sample and share, I'd recommend an over-the-shoulder style cooler. If you're looking for a tailgating event, check out TFN6 next weekend.

[*]Please don't trash the area, we've seen the aftermath the day after and it's not pretty. Help everyone out and throw away your trash.

[*]Carry your Dark Lord by the bottom of the package it is in. Broken Dark Lord bottles are depressing. Drunk people drinking Dark Lord off the street are even more depressing.

[*]It's going to be cold and rainy, dress appropriately.

If you see any of us around on Saturday, stop and say "hi." And more importantly, let us know what awesome beers we need to try!

I traded my other ticket for lodging & transport...We're currently planning on leaving Indy ~5:00 in the morning which, given the time change, should put us in line & drinkin' by 7:30a.m....nice...

I'm hoping to take a bunch of pics before my battery goes dead...http://thefullpint.com/ is holding a contest for the best DLD photo...the prize is a bottle of Beatification Batch 5:)...

I'd post a list of all the beers that I'll be bringing, but things are constantly changing...trading is rampant in the days leading up to the event...

As for the bottles being released this year, they haven't yet announced...but the list may well include BA Behemoth, Cherry Alpha Klaus, Plum Alpha Klaus, BA Alpha Klaus(?) & some to all of the $50 BA Dark Lord variants from last time only now with red lettering & wax instead of yellow...I already have a Brandy Dark Lord, so I'm hoping to get a different one...but, coming away with a BA Behemoth, I think, is my main goal...

Anywho, I'll try to sneak in a few posts day of -- pehaps whilst it's my turn to babysit the beer as my cohort goes for another round...

      Cheers...

Enjoy. Debbie and I could have had tickets but for some reason (!) we weren't that concerned about it. Instead we will be seeing Dar Williams at a late show in Evanston on Friday night and then heading to Milwaukee on Saturday to see Cinematic Titanic (essentially live Mystery Science Theater 3000) that evening. Sunday morning will be spent at Blue's Egg in Milwaukee having breakfast with cocktails. I'll miss DLD but that seems ok for this year.

Jeff - If you win the scratch-off this year, go for the Cognac or Cognac de la Muerte version. Gonna be pretty sweet I think.

I think I'd probably go for Vanilla Bean Bourbon, but I doubt I'll get the chance...

One upside, though, is that this might mean they'll be selling the BA Behemoth to us normal folk:)...

Bring some good bottles and start hunting for the ticket winners around 4-5. They'll be drunk and likely ready to make deals that should clearly be put on hold until sobriety kicks back in.

The KBS on down, basically, is for drinking...I'm holding a lot back this year due to trades I've already setup with HC'ers...

& I'm collecting bottles for a Chicago trip(!) once I get back on my feet...

I have another interview on the 2nd...
