jp11801 Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 Box drama my shipment may be going back as my friend I shipped it too is working late on a case then headed out of town. Hopefully the beer gods will be kind
Augsburger Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Can/should this beer be racked for a while like say 'til summer of 2014?
Voltron Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 It can go even longer if you like. I have Eclipse 2009-2012 at the moment and JP and I had a 2008 Eclipse PVW that was awesome. I don't lay beer down for any length of time to avoid cap interaction. I keep my bottles vertical.
Augsburger Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 Thanks for the information Al, I had not thought about the cap interaction and had them laying on their sides as with wine. Summer 2014 should be fun.
Voltron Posted December 27, 2012 Report Posted December 27, 2012 I don't think laying them down is a big problem but when I read up on it the beer cellar types seem to say that beer picks up "flavor" from caps or corks moreso than wine. Unlike wine corks, most beers use the expanding champagne type and aren't kept as long as wine, so you shouldn't have to worry about shrinkage.
