robm321
At the end of the day, they parted ways. Yep, the cold impersonal reality of business. I don't see how its ethically wrong to let him go if the powers that be think its best for the organization. The only argument I see is if they are making the right decision. I think he's still the best QB currently, but building a future makes more sense to me as well. I think they chose right.
morphsci
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. I respect the teams that show respect for their players because they want to, not because they have to.
n_maher
From 2000 through 2010 the Colts paid Peyton some $140,000,000. I don't think they owed him anything in the end. Including endoresements he probably more than doubled that so color me unconcerned that he finds himself unemployed this morning.
cobra_kai
I thought it was pretty classy that Irsay said no Colt would ever wear 18 again.
morphsci
From 2002 through 2011 the colts net revenue was 1.862 billion dollars.
swt61
I'm in the wrong business, especially since I'm good with balls.
grawk
I'd venture a guess and say if there wasn't a salary cap they very well may have paid his annual bonus.

I agree with all of this and also think that they chose well in terms of the business decision. I just hope that they're wrong and that he comes back and bites them in a big way. deepak
Revis deserves his pay IMO Also I agree that Irsay and the colts are in no way morally obligated to keep someone like Manning but if he ends up being healthy I think it will be a mistake for them, from a perspective of royally pissing off the fan base. This is also assuming that whoever they draft can't really fill his shoes, which I think will be the case. If whoever steps in can do it relatively seamlessly then winning goes a long way to get over any lingering hard feelings. You're right I thought about this a while, Revis deserves his pay. Also wasn't aware that LT retired.
jvlgato
Damn, looks like he's going to Miami. Which made Washington over pay to get RG3, which takes RG3 away from the Browns! Sucks to be a Browns fan!
The Monkey
And the Jets extend Sanchez's deal. wtf?
jvlgato
Yeah, exactly. Amazing, the domino effect he's had.
deepak
And the Jets extend Sanchez's deal. wtf? Interesting that Manning will probably be going to Miami. My friend and I had a long convo that his best chance at another Superbowl would probably be NFC West. Now he has to play the Pats twice and possibly three times a year. But if he is healthy he'll do really well in Miami.

recstar24
I sense an elway-ish aura with Peyton being a bronco. 36 years old, end of career, what better way to finish than with a pair of Super Bowl rings.
tkam
Want to see if the Broncos will now pick up Mike Wallace I hope not. The best part about this decision by Manning is that it should put an end to tebow mania - hopefully.

deepak
I hope not. The best part about this decision by Manning is that it should put an end to tebow mania - hopefully. They should be aggressive and go for him. Assuming Manning is healthy and with their defense plus deep threat WR... I do think they'd win their division. recstar24
According to espn their statistical probability of reaching the playoffs went from 17% to 84%. Wallace is awesome and the broncos have a decent receiving core as is. With manning apparently they will actually be able to run routes and catch passes and stuff.
