Bigguy Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Hey, Hey, We're the monkeys! We are now, Davy. We will miss you. Quote
skullguise Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Watched mostly reruns of The Monkeys, and one of my High School friends - a huge fan - just recently started putting a bunch of posts related to them on FB. A little weird, considering it had been years since we chatted about them.... RIP, and yes, thanks for the memories! Quote
livewire Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Godspeed Davy. I was a fan back in the day, Monkees ruled for a short time in the mid-60's. Quote
pigmode Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Oh wow, I remember listening to that stuff on 45s. He was hilarious on The Brady Bunch Movie. Quote
philodox Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Holy Fuck, when I read the subject I thought you were talking about Bowie. That's a relief. Still, RIP to one of the Monkees. Quote
bhjazz Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) She tied her brother down with stones rickety tickety tin She tied her brother down with stones and sent him off to Davy Jones All they ever found were the bones - And occasional pieces of skin, of skin. Occasional pieces of skin. When I was younger, I thought that line had something to do with The Monkees. Oh well. Info from wikipedia: Englishman Davy Jones was a former jockey who had achieved some initial success on the musical stage (appearing with the cast of Oliver! on The Ed Sullivan Show the night of the Beatles' live American debut). Already appearing in Columbia Pictures productions and recording for the Colpix record label, he had been identified in advance as a potential star for the series. RIP, Mr. Jones. mikeymad Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Use to watch his show all the time... RIP Quote
Bigguy Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Jimi Hendrix was the opening act for the Monkey's first tour. For the first 3 dates at least. He then flipped them off and left the tour. He could have been big if he had stayed with them. LOL Quote
