swt61 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Just get the Monitor Audios that you like and quit sweating it. And yeah, a Thalidomide chair might be a good thing.
bhjazz Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Speaking of chairs, this one would do nicely. And I found one in white for you, too. When you have guests: presto, just unfold. INSTANT seating. No guests? Badabing: fold that baby up.
shellylh Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 ^lol. That is just what I was looking for. The Von Schweikert VR-33s sounds like it is a pretty sweet sounding speaker. I don't mind the all black, but they wouldn't last long in the house. A little about the price I was looking at too.
shellylh Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) Starting to think more about the Swan 6.1. They seem to fit all of my requirements. People have compared them to the Paradigm 100 but not sure. Anyone heard these? Steve? Are they bright, neutral, dark, bloomy? Nevermind: I just found out that they used to sell these on av123 and that company left a bad taste in my mouth. Edited February 21, 2012 by shellylh
shellylh Posted February 21, 2012 Author Report Posted February 21, 2012 I ordered the Monitor Audio RX6 since that was the one I kept coming back to. If I like them, I'll get the matching center. If not, I'll send them back to Audio Advisor. Hopefully, I can find a suitable chair for that spot for the future.
skullguise Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Good on the MA's Shelly! As far as the Swan's go, yeah they USED to be ordered thru AV123 (I ordered some, back when all they had otherwise were their Perpetual Technologies DAC), but that was when they were "good." Swan's actually dropped them (don't think it was vice-versa), then AV123 looked to build their own; that's when they got in trouble, and then tried to recover $ in rather ugly creative ways.
Pars Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Hope these work out and you enjoy them Shelly!
swt61 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) And don't forget to check in on Head-Fi to see if you have the veiled version, the bright version, the bass heavy version or the version that only dogs can hear. Edited February 21, 2012 by swt61
Pars Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 ^ don't forget to check on how may decades you need to run them in at 120dB before they are broken in as well, Steve...

n_maher Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I really do appreciate how you go about problem solving, Shelly.
Pars Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 ^ don't forget to rewire them with Jenna cable, Chris.... Ooops, forgot that one. And it's Jena Actually, my post didn't come out quite right, as it was really directed at Shelly, but I guess you figured that out.

Not a bad call at all Shelly... now just rearrange the entire room until they sound great...
teufelshunde Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 And make sure you have enough Charmin on hand to restore the recessed mids after the failed right woofer gets replaced on RMA.
