spritzer Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Ahh but the Euro hasn't been weaker for years...
Hopstretch Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 It's called "taking price". Basically, if you can do it, you do do it. Economonometerics!
Pars Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Normally, manufacturing costs go down (or should) during a production run... continuous improvement and all that.
Tari Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Cost of materials, labor, shipping and utilities have all gone up considerably in the past few years. Creating 1000 items costs more now then in the past (as a generalization- obviously cost of some items, especially electronics go down.) Ramping up production to hundreds of thousands will save you per unit. But what indication do we have that Sennheiser is making the HD800 at a higher rate than a few years past? Assuming quantity is the same cost goes up - the only thing that should go down is error as any good manufacturer can tweak their production line over time.
manaox2 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I would imagine the distortion levels are very high I bet it has something to do with unnatural levels of silicone used in the manufacturing of said cans.
swt61 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I don't get it. :/ Wear more provocative clothing and hang out in seedy bars.
The Monkey Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Manufacturing costs go up and there has not been a price increase on the 800 for three years - maybe??? Bullshit.
grawk Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 whether the cost to produce the 800 went up or not, it's not a significant factor in the price. The price is "what the market will bear" and now the bear she done got bigger.
RudeWolf Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I hope that the new Philips line will introduce some changes in the consumer perception and in the way how headphones are priced. I have strong feeling that Sennheiser headphones become a good buy after five or so years after they are introduced. Maybe it worked some time back but now... We might see some new kids on the can scene to challenge them.
swt61 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I would not buy a Sennheiser headphone if they were full of water and my ass was on fire. I am looking forward to hearing the Philips phones though. Good sound at a reasonable price needs to come back in fashion.

philodox Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 I would not buy a Sennheiser headphone if they were full of water and my ass was on fire. That made me smile.
philodox Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) Uh, I like headphones? Finished painting my place the weekend before last and have my audio rig in a more prominent place in the appartment now... your wood has been getting lots of compliments. (all the way from texas too, quite a feat ) Edited January 30, 2012 by philodox
