sbelyo Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 I would like to build my new balanced rig properly. Should a source have male or female XLR terminals, and again what should the amp have?
dsavitsk Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Generally, people use male on the source, and female on the amp.
deepak Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Outputs are male, inputs are female. Not for you fitz
Voltron Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Obviously. Everybody knows Fitz's amps are gay.
Tyll Hertsens Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Obviously. Everybody knows Fitz's amps are gay. And cables are rarely straight.
Pars Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) Just to piggyback onto this thread (instead of making a "Stoopid Questions" thread, which should probably be a sticky for me anyway). For balanced cabling (say for a headphone), I assume the normal is for standard size XLRs, and not minis? For a 4 pin XLR, is standard pinout: 1 L+ 2 L- 3 R+ 4 R- Since I haven't really used balanced much, I'm sure I'll have more questions... Edited January 25, 2013 by Pars
n_maher Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Yup, that's the 4-pin layout that I've always used and if you ever need confirmation just look up the K1000 manual, that's where it all started as far as I can remember.
Pars Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 Thanks Nate. Some questionable "marketing spin" in the above "The use of oxygen free cables..."
wink Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 You buy the cable, you get the oxygen for free......
