  1. My wife was offended and she’s within plate throwing range.
  2. So then the output stated on the silkscreen is wrong, it should be 450V not 400V. Or am I having a blond moment.
  3. Just an observation with the fat psu boards. The silkscreen states an input of AC360, I presume this is the loaded voltage, if so the board default would be the 450V yet the outputs are 400V on the silkscreen?
  4. My experience is... the 007 with lesser amps has a honky and recessed (veiled) colouration, whilst it vastly improves and opens up as the amp scales, I can still hear this colouration it even with a BHSE. The 009 maintains a better consistency of sound signature using different amps, as well as scaling with better amps and I cannot for the life of me hear any colouration, in fact I’d say I can hear a lot more of what’s going on upstream than the phone itself.
  5. RIP David Bowie.
  6. Thanks Mark and Kerry, those custom pieces look terrific!
  7. Looking for a name/supplier for these connecting metal joiners?
  8. G600 congratulations, wonderful news indeed. Kerry - that is bloody beautiful work right there.
  9. I had some quality Belden 19364 I was doing the same thing with The primary wiring is off-cuts from the transformer windings, I usually do this if I have enough, all the HV wiring is from Bulk Wire (600V Stranded UL 1015 20AWG), for the inputs I used Belden 83005 010100 22AWG silver plated copper, which is a nice high temp teflon wire and also rated 600V. The XLRs sockets are Neutrik DLX with gold contacts.
  10. Pars, Yes Alpha pots but not the one you referenced in the link. The model is 3RP/2142G. http://www.alpha-products.com/cd_catalog/new_catalogs/Pots/rotary/21mm/21mm%20rot%20pots_4.htm
  11. I’d take $500 worth for 50 pc’s no problem.
  12. I do think the body is a very difficult subject with enormous benchmarks. I really don’t know that much about the technicalities of photographic art, but I do know what I like and don’t like when I see an image. I would never be as bold or think to enforce my opinion as your mistake. And my comment was only based only on the recent crop of images that caused a stir, I have enjoyed many of your works throughout these pages.
  13. Well done Les, I agree Paul’s transformers are very stable and well made. Before I get all carbonated, due to sudden parts saturation (thanks wink), I have another old school KGSSHV on the bench... it’s a beast compared to the mini I made a month or so ago, running a toasty 14mA.
  14. I don’t have any issues with Crappy’s semi nude photography of women. I don’t like them for many reasons, but not because of any offensiveness.
  15. 2 for the price of a HeadAmp BHSE. That's what I call a bargain... Don't tell me it includes an RK50? Curious to see internals.
  16. The factory have a 1000pc min order. I don't know anywhere else you could get these, I've been looking around EVERYWHERE and have come up with nothing.
  17. Thanks skullguise for you comments, that helped clarify.
  18. Sorry I'm thick, so the M12 is the successor of the M51, but what's the difference between DACs in terms of implementation and SQ? I have found NOTHING to state any difference between the 2 models.
  19. Thanks Audiojunkie for your impressions. Is the NAD M12 the same spec as the NAD M51? I have a vague recollection reading somewhere they’re the same DAC and implementation.
  20. Yep that will work, I put the cap after the divider but it doesn’t really matter. You could reduce the two 178k into a single 355k. But check your calculations here: http://www.raltron.com/cust/tools/voltage_divider.asp
  21. For NB I thought you could tap straight from B+ with a simple voltage divider.
  22. Congrats Purk. The Yggy spotlighted the NADM51’s shortcomings very clearly in my system, like yourself even new out of the box. The upgrade has been a very worthy investment for me, it’s actually the first DAC I’ve experienced an undeniable big improvement. Whist the NADM51 had a subtle improvement over the (TPA) Sabre based DAC’s I was building at the time, I feel the Yggy to be in another league altogether.
  23. Very nice work Michael, but I do agree that those sinks may be undersized, especially when cased up.
  24. Oh yes, that’s looks really good.
