My personal moral compass allows me to steal anything produced or conceived of in Austria, so you're fine by me, Tyll.

If we're still compiling a list here, I'd love to be included. I'm also willing to pick up an international member, if there is an odd number. Great idea, Jackson. Sounds like a lot of fun

Christmas presents. Notably this for my father, to replace his dead 1971 corded drill:

Holy Crap! I never imagined your setup could be more gorgeous, but you keep making it so. I can't wait to hear about it's splendor.

I love Shazam. I get a lot of mix cds from friends, and it's priceless. It's actually actually priceless, in that it is free.

No sticking snow yet here in the lowlands, but this evening bodes well.

It's not so much the phone, as it is Colorado's 3g network. I am rarely realizing speeds noticeably faster than Edge anywhere I go. I'll be interested to hear your impressions, Naaman, as I can't get mine to run quickly in the springs no matter where I am. Occasionally I flip it on when I'm doing something data-intensive in a heavily populated area (around Denver), and it seems to work well there. I enjoy having that flexibility, even if I pay through the nose for it. I am also ashamed to admit that I like the standard headphone jack, and that helped make my decision Other than those two things, I really do prefer the 1st gen and am seriously considering downgrading. I'll wait 4 months until my wife's cell contract is up and give her my phone, though. Also, thanks for the heads up, Grawk. I'll give ATT a ring and see if they have an update for me.

Yeah, I wondered that as well. It is said to be designed by Mr. Curl, but it's substantially downmarket from the JC-2. I've read some reviews stating that it gets pretty harsh at high volumes, but I'll have to hear for myself. At any rate, ebay's 25% refund program makes auditioning gear almost like a second job.

You can find a handful of ASR's reviews (which I enjoy) here at Stereo Mojo. He writes under the pen name "Steve Ham".

After my GFP-750 arrived basically broken, and after I discovered that I liked the way an active linestage sounded, I bought this: Parasound P3 preamp. It does everything, but it may not do anything well. We shall see.

I heard the Westone 3 prototype almost two years ago at their factory. The prototype sounded phenomenal -- very similar to the 2 except cleaner and with better delineated bass. You might not like them, but I did.

I disabled 3g on day 4 and never looked back. Thanks god I found "remote" or I would have broken this thing and used its parts to start a life-giving fire long ago. As it stands, I love it endlessly. So, in short, remote is wonderful.

Pretty ambivalent about Chuck. I watched 15 minutes of the first episode this season and didn't enjoy it. Does it pick up later in the season, or can I just expect not to resonate with this show? On another note, I loved True Blood, Reks. Caught up with it just in time for the finale.

Nova is easy to tell. It says "Lambda Nova Signature" in giant letter on top of the band.

xlr-rca balanced to single ended adaptors - help needed

Got the GFP-750 in but it was all effed up. The balance on the volume pot never equalled out, and even all the way down at 7 o'clock I got about 75% volume out of the right channel (and 0% out of the left). Only way it worked was to max it out and then attenuate volume on the source, which is hardly worthwhile for a preamp. The seller wants to refund me $200 to have it fixed, but I'm pretty certain the Alps pot in there is out of production, so I'm sending it back and looking elsewhere. -
There is at least one place that sells them in bulk. WPI, for instance, sells them, and Woo gets 'em from somewhere other than Stax direct.
-
No, I know exactly what you meant, and intended no hard time. It just seemed fitting, and they juxtaposed so well.
-
I've watched 8 episodes of True Blood in 1/4 as many days. This show is really entertaining.
-
I love how you capitalize "Stax" and not "bible".

Oh, no doubt. People laughed at it as it passed from all angles, and AMC was kind enough to ensure that none of those individuals fell in my blind spot. Plus, another bonus, damage to the rear window = car totalled.

I did, but it may be an out-of-date .pdf of his stock. I'll get his new one to double check. I found the 47uf on partsconnexion -
my 3g's port is an absolute pain in the ass. None of my charging plugs fit in it well. I settle for "cocked at a 20 degree angle held in place by my armrest charging 80% of the time." I imagine the number of successful LODs is low on that bitch's abomination of a port.

Also, the only non polar 10uf 50v cap I could find was the AC series, not the N series. The description of the AC series was high current for x-overs -- would that be detrimental in my application? -

Thanks for the help, luvdunhill, The BGs are in my shopping cart and the preamp comes in the mail today. I'm going to do my due diligence and put some hours of listening into it before I roll the caps, so I can appreciate the difference. I'll open it up and post some pictures before I do the work. My DIY legacy is a handful of failed cmoys and a slightly manlier handful or working cables, so this represents a big step for me. Out of the kiddie pool, into the shark tank. -
These cost more, and were engineered with considerably more care, than my first car. I give you, the 1976 sky-blue AMC pacer:
