  1. The man has, like, 14 Michelin stars. Those things aren't like Grammys, earning them is hard. Bernard Loiseau killed himself when it was rumored he might lose one. S' Truth They may well regard him as a hack, but that's a poor move on their part.
  2. I'm generationally incapable of being irked by a 3-second cut, though I totally see what you mean. The backing music and ridiculous narrator do diminish it significantly. That being said, I still watch all of them, I just pine for the British version. Every time the narrator says "You won't believe your eyes" or something like that, my wife and I gasp and look at each other in astonishment.
  3. I haven't spent much time looking at gear international studios use, but I can tell you that everywhere I've ever recorded or mastered, they've been using Mac and Protools. It's why I bought one. Of the popular recording programs, only Cakewalk is not Mac compatible that I know of, and Cakewalk is obviously not a pro solution.
  4. i.e. I'm 0 for 3 on this route so far. I currently own no windows computer whose registration key for the OS is the same as what's printed on the sticker. Looks like it's time to start saving backup discs, eh?
  5. These are words to be inscribed on a headstone.
  6. I'll tell you what, kids, that RAAL did nothing for me.
  7. Hi Indra! The Nova is a real solid choice. I'm using it now, and I prefer the DAC section to the ECD-1 I used to own. You would want to wait for a local dealer, however, not just to audition it but to make sure you you got a revision 2 model of the Nova. Apparently the Apple Airport Express is the jitteriest device ever produced -- so jittery that it would lock up the Sabre DAC in the Nova. The rev. 2 board tweaks the DAC somewhat to prevent this from happening.

That's an extremely tame rider, especially considering the fact that no band gets everything they ask for. I mean, seriously, two guys to help load and unload? They're not asking for much.
  9. Big Gordon Ramsay fan here. His joint at Claridge's is the first truly excellent food I've ever had, and I will love him forever for it. That being said, Kitchen Nightmares US is a joke in comparison. In the UK, he busts balls and makes people sell their cars to get a new stove. In the US, he lets them moan and then remakes their whole place on his own dollar to placate them. No go, Ramsay.
  10. I could totally impact a Canadian right now. I know exactly what you mean.
  11. Yea, I say unto the, brother dillhole, even those of the fold know that MarkL is a douchebag.

Funny, I knew I liked Pat Buchanan for a reason...
  15. <--- First line of defense
  16. I done already built some
  17. I spent about 5 minutes on the WA22, which surprisingly did nothing for me with any of the cans I listened to, and a few short seconds with the ZDT, which sounded really lovely. It wasn't euphonic or syrupy or slow, it was just powerful. Dynamics were really effortless, in my short demo, and that's a very good sound. I suspect the WA22 wasn't entirely to blame, but rather the Northstar CDP connected to it. Also, I imagine the fact that I wore an ill-fitting pair of Qualias contributed more than either of those Something in that system didn't quite gel for me. I'd love to hear the WA22 in another setting sometime, as it was a really beautiful amp.
  18. I'm going to firmly plant myself in the "greatly enjoy the HD800" camp, if that's okay with you fellows. Spent about 20 minutes with them on a Cary 300 sei this last weekend, and fell all the way in love. Well, aside from some sibilance, which was offputting. They fit my desired sound perfectly. Airy, somewhat dry, clean bass -- loved it all. I preferred my K1K in every way that counts (i.e. not looks or comfort), but these were something else.
  19. Wrong. 2 TRS plugs in the back are designed for balanced output. You just have to convert them to a standard XLR . I believe the PCI has the same functionality.
  20. Suffice it to say that the girl I was intended to marry is skinnier, and I will never hear the end of that.
  21. Leather bagel pads may well sound excellent. i agree with all of the above that a lot of prototyping is in order, though.
  22. I got drunk with both my wife and the girl my family wanted me to marry tonight.
  23. This is what you want. No questions for at least an hour while you read.
