  1. I'll set up outlook tonight, Dinny and report back. I just remembered that I, too, hate mail.

    Top Gear

I'm willing to give the US iteration time to develop (though I doubt their network will be so lenient). I just finished watching the first season of "new" Top Gear (i.e. season 1 after the relaunch before they brought in James May) and it was really not so good. Transitions were screwy, the audience didn't have it figured out, and there were whole minutes eaten up by a portly chap explaining which cars were having a good sale at the moment. Point being, as Dan said, chemistry takes time to develop. May, Hammond and Clarkson can live in the bush together at this point, if the U.S. show is to ever develop that, people need to give it some room.

    X-box or PS3?

Were it me (and indeed it was at one time) I would go with the Xbox. The new black units are quiet and stable, so far as I can tell, and the games are really very good. If I couldn't play Mass Effect I would feel as though I had made a poor purchasing decision. Maybe he has a low sense of self worth? Raffy's right, the only reason is cost. System is cheaper, games are cheaper, etc. So far as I know it can't be turned into a bong or anything.
  5. You Iberians and your romance language.
  6. Here's a question: how is that pronounced? Caliburr or caleebray?
  7. Once Lily started doing all the soldering, things really went downhill. She was better in QA and marketing.

    Blu-spec CD

Sounds gimmicky. I've never seen assertions that errors in CD playback were caused by uneven pits created by substandard lasers. That said, optical playback has errors, to be sure. If Blu discs require less error correction... no clue.

  11. Should anyone else read this later and think "Hey, I like that idea too", my local homebrewery has a few decent kits, as well. I started with the deluxe, and it works a treat. Requires a large stock pot, though, as Dan pointed out. You can pick one up yourself, but unless you find something clever they're going to run about $70-$90.
  12. Great to see the F5 alive. Mine is a keeper, for sure.

  14. I'm sure you're not looking for anything fancy, but I once owned a pair of Moon-Audio recabled AKG K701s and loved them. Cable looked and felt great, and I liked the sound of the phones themselves. Plus Drew is good people. It's a thought.

Truth. Meta comics just break the fourth wall, and that trick only works once.

  20. Happy birthday Peter! Call me if you wanna celebrate with Rudy's tomorrow afternoon! You can call me too, Carl, but I'm sure how the logistics would pan out. Happiest!

He was all out when I stopped by, and he himself was running Pure music, rather than AyreWave. The system actually sounded very good, but the speakers were really atrociously ugly. Veneered wood cabinets, carbon fibre front baffle, and chrome bars protruding from each side to protect the woofers. Anyhow, interested parties can obtain a copy of ayrewave here, as I did. It's on sbooth.org, who is also kind enough to give us MAX, the second best audio converter for OS X.

Also, ain't no party like a hotel room party. I've got a spot for Friday, and it's close. Baker Street Pub. It's a local chain, CO and TX only. Nearby, good food and beer, and room for as big a group as we can cobble together. Interested?

Falling rock has its own parking lot downtown, free to patrons. There's enough room for more cars than the joint can hold people, thankfully, and every time I've been there were a few spots open. Carpooling should work out well for us.
