You know as well as anyone, Larry. There's happy and there's happy...

Why do I come to this thread? I bought the 13s and sold everything else I owned, and that was that. Now there are NEW 13s, and apparently the new 16s are better than the old ones as well. Jesus Christ. Jerry Harvey always did two things well: phase and ladies. Since I bought my 13s he's improved the phase and fired his wife. If he hadn't been such a dick to Mike, I'd be all in for this. As it stands, my loyalties are divided.

I wanted badly to come, but it's a no-go for me this year. When it's right up the street it's easy to justify RMAF swallowing CanJam, but when you fly across the country it feels long on corporate and short on awesome.

Just tell me where to be.

Oh my gosh! Happy Birthday!

Truly a stupendous time with a bunch of good friends. currently at my kitchen table decompressing, and celebrating Peter's birthday with him. Right now, he's celebrating by editing photos, and I'm celebrating by filling out government forms.

Sahara is indeed the restaurant from last year, and we can all of course return, but I would be slacking if I didn't have some new treats for you all.

Yes sir, take a break from being a defacto manufacturer and come as an attendee. I say bring one source, one amp, one phone. Just the dream rig.

I can see how that conversation would go already...

My store here in Colorado Springs has a little impromptu memorial for Steve, and we turned out our Apple. A great man, a great futurist, and an astonishingly clear thinker. His vision, insight, and utter certainty about how things are to be done properly has left what will no doubt be an enduring legacy. I can't help but feel that all the money and brilliance in the world cannot save you from death, however, so I shall be spending my efforts in remembering Steve on living well.

Preordered 2 4S' last night, both on (shudder) Verizon. I am loath to leave AT&T, who has treated me very well, but my experience with AT&T in D.C. has been poor. The 4S is basically the phone of my dreams. Which is to say it's a better iphone 4, which was already the phone of my dreams.

I'm prepartying at the moment. Normally that means drinking, but today it means baking soft pretzels, mapping a route, and having some protein shakes. Normal prepartying before GABF is beyond unthinkable.

We see the absolute most insane crap. Want to replace your hard drive but don't want to remember where you put the screws? Just don't screw the new one in! Three weeks later bring it in and claim it was never opened. Want to replace the drive but have no idea what the difference between PATA and SATA is? Just physically set the new drive in and don't connect it! Bring it in claiming issues with the battery. Want to put a condom in the CD slot? Well, sure, I guess so, but why in hell?

I'll be there this evening Naaman. Anything on your "must drink" list?

Glad this thing finally started shipping. For $50 more than the Dell (which features the same panel) I think it's competitively priced. It adds laptop charging, thunderbolt, speakers, an isight camera, and an aluminum body. I'd have a hard time purchasing the thunderbolt display over a 27" iMac (which can be used in target disk mode), but for $700 extra I can see how others might not agree.

The Sherwood Smiley! P.S. Fuck Yeah, I love my HC travel Team. I will be there all the time, as I live here and will by that point have quit my job at Apple in preparation of moving. That is to say I have no commitments save you guys, and I live to serve. alright!

"Just hook this device the size of a child's shoe into your stereo. Now plug a second cord into whatever power source you used use to charge your phone. Then plug yet another cord into your phone! You can awkwardly rest this lighted box anywhere within the reach of its tangle of cords, leaving you free to hold your steadily depleting phone in your hands while you drive!"

One of the nicest things about working at the Apple Store is that you need manager approval to buy anything. Aside from an Airport Extreme I purchased as a replacement for an old, dead Airport Extreme, I've not bought anything that plugs in in months. That is, until I bought the Apogee One...

I don't think there was ever any doubt about this, but I will be attending and entertaining to the very best of my abilities. I love you all, and view this as a great chance to keep up with my good friends. Every year it becomes less about the gear, and every year I enjoy it more. I'll also be attending GABF on Saturday October 1st. I even have a little drunk tank set up for after. Feel free to hop on that train too, friends. Always a good time.

Just realized why I shouldn't post drunk. Bob Lefsetz is kind of a blowhard, and I can't vouch for his ears. Bob Ludwig mixed and mastered my band a few years ago, and he has great ears. Also, he's a big HD-800 fan.
-
Lefsetz mastered one of my band's albums, back in the day. He did a solid job, and has some serious ears. Almost made us sound good.

Don Thor, I am honored and grateful that you have invited me to your forum on the day of your birth. And may your first child be a masculine child.

Mike! Happy birthday from behind the iron clad (?) walls of my Turkish language contract!
-
It is Madison. Hot today. I walked around a bunch and looked silly drenched in sweat.

Aw, I miss Apple. Speaking Turkish all goddamn day is really starting to be a bit of a raw nerve. Since it's a small program, all the students are lumped together, and I have the least experience. While I know that it's beneficial to learn from other more experienced students, I also often feel like a 12 year old whose parents sent him straight to college in the hopes that ludicrously hard classes would encourage him to "learn more". Thanks Apple thread!
