  1. If they still have the little Laotian guy who does impressions, you should definitely get them done there. He's excellent, and nailed my fit twice in a row.
  2. It would have to be analog only (like the stompbox) because I am not allowed to use peripherals on our machines, for security purposes. I'm pretty limited to the dual 1/8" (3.5mm) plug format for compatibility with an embedded system. I could theoretically bring a self-contained system to run it through, but I would need to A) sneak it into a U.S. Embassy, and transport it every day from my desk to my interview window (which is not the same two days in a row, and is shared with other officers.) So the USB sets are out, but I dig that HD595 clone.
  3. Only time I ever ate turtle was in a turtle soup at Commander's Palace in New Orleans. I would really like to eat more of them, though. Only the big ones are endangered, right? I don't have to feel bad about this? I remember Shredder often commenting that he intended to make turtle soup out of the ninja turtles, which seems a great idea. He might not have had anything else against them, and just couldn't get over how great the soup would be.
  4. Correct, they will be used primarily for speech, though your point is well taken, Tyll.
  5. Hey headphone friends. Despite my great affection for good headphones, the pair that spends the most time on my head are a cheap logitech headset with 2 miniplugs -- one for the mic, one for the headphones. I interview visa applicants for five hours a day, and I wear those shitty headphones to do it. I think it's time for a change. Ideally, I'd like a new set that meets three criteria, in order: 1) Some kind of gate or filter to block excessively loud noises. Applicants often hit the microphone on their side with papers, and it's like 120dB or white noise. Sennheiser has ActiveGard on some business headsets, and this seems to do the job. 2) Professional-looking. The interview thing is emasculating enough, to have to do it with bad headphones. 3) Wireless, if possible. I'm envisioning an adapter with a pigtail that has two mini plugs on it. I could plug it in when I go to the window, and take it with me when I leave. Do any of you use headsets? Have any suggestions? The best I've found so far are these, though they are not wireless.
  6. You're the best, Mikey. I just poured myself an HC Glencairn of Laphroaig quarter cask in your honor.
  7. Great news, Antonio! What a happy day!
  8. Bailed on some friends because I felt like going out was a hassle, microwaved some corn chips and cheese, put on a French internet radio station and played Euro Truck Simulator 2 slightly dejectedly. My wife has been gone for 5 days, and I miss her.
  9. Sennheiser PX100
  10. Awesome, Steve, thanks so much for the link. I'm all for new sources of music discovery.
  11. I think I've owned 3 or 4 pairs of Grado headphones that interviewer made.
  12. That product goes against the very fiber of my being, Dinny. It's 1 time use! You need to buy another one every time you fill balloons, and you can't fill fewer than one hundred at a time. Their competitors are cooler, in my view, but just being a man and knowing how to tie water balloons quickly is the coolest.
  13. Yup, the mini is a laptop. It uses laptop parts. The iMac does too, for many things, but it does have a desktop processor, with equivalent power draw. I say keep getting iMacs, Shelly, but don't throw them away. I've sold a 4 year old iMac for $600, which is a nice start on a new one. Sell it right after a version update, and you're golden. My old iMac could not be upgraded past Mountain Lion, so I wiped it, installed Mountain lion fresh, and sold it the weekend Mountain Lion came out. Et voila.
  14. Iceland I love you.
  15. Breaking news, Purk will be joining TRIAD AUDIO.
  16. This is Head-Case. I will require a matched quad of turtles.
  17. The problem with pool noodle port blockers are that they inherently beg to be pulled out. Once you pull them out you have to put them back in, and once it's okay to put stuff in the port holes you've created a bigger problem than you've solved. I think speaker grills are perfect
  18. pll is, as CD pointed put, Larry Milligan. A.k.a. the guy that screwed everyone operating as LaRocco audio. That's this guy.
  19. EDIT: KG gave a better answer than my uninformed answer.
  20. This is probably a good time to let you guys know this. I'm sure that no better time will ever come. As of today, March 3rd 2079, I am leaving the unincorporated territories of New Colombia to pursue my future in exotic fuel speculation. Our resources have simply run out, gentleman, and it's time we face it. I have terminated all my existing claims, and left them in hands that I consider to be capable -- BRAD from TRIAD audio. If you see my human son, or any of my children who do not identify as gendered or specied, please direct them to my new address. Questions regarding service can be bundled together, palletized, and shot straight into the sun.
  21. Truly. I briefly entertained the idea of buying one of those, but it seems like it might be simpler to just make one from the start.
  22. They're not yet made up, so just get in touch with Geoff. The more, the merrier.
  23. I'm 5 for 5 as well, and I've done absolutely no work. I've grabbed only thins I wanted, and I'm happy with all of them. i grabbed the coolest, too. I think we'll see some interesting delays when he tries to ship 20,000 units (and counting), but I expect that.
  24. Super Sexy Silicon integrated circuit? EDIT: Did my own research. Cree SiC mosfets.
  25. An update -- I've been using mine more, and enjoying it more. I'm now competing with another headphone audiophile at work, and he has an AK120, so we'll see which sounds better. The UI is improving, and you can now have playlists. i reorganized the way all my files are named, but it sounds good enough to justify it. I was listening at work today, and caught myself just zoning out, enjoying music. I don't usually do that.
