Fun fact, part of the reason Turkish rice is so delicious is that, before boiling, it's lightly fried in fat. Same way you start risotto. Your rice and beans looks great, Ozgur.

I've been pretty interested in that DAC. $1400 or so to your door if you know how to navigate TaoBao, which I do. Unfortunately, I do not know anything about circuit design or build quality. If it passes the KG gauntlet, I might just grab one.

I used the money well, but I also miss my pink driver RS-1s. On the lookout for a new pair always. I actually have a spare set of the pink drivers themselves, so I'm optimistic I'll some day find a "repaired" set with newer shitty drivers I can pry out. Fack.

I'd love to come by. Send me a message with the address, and I'll be happy to come over.

Happy birthday to you, Bryan! Here's hoping it was exemplary.

Alright, I'll check that out. I'll count it towards my language practice time Is that better or worse than a dog's dinner? I need a hierarchy of British animal meals.

I am really going to miss WCD. It was a vibrant community dedicated to archiving, tagging, sorting, and reviewing music. There has never been a more complete and well-maintained catalogue of digital music in history, and there may well never be another. Even those of us who cared about copyright and IP can recognize the loss of pure metadata this represents.

Happy birthday, nums!

PS1. You've still got those, right?

Says the man who owns one of the few headphones that can do it. I want to hear these for a few weeks in my system, but this is the first dynamic since the HD800 I'm really excited about. I thought I was beyond hype, but I ain't. I wish they weren't $4000.

Tyll's the last dude who smoked me out.

I just treat that as an "audiophile tax". Seriously though, I appreciate the recommendation. I do like Gould, and I'm happy to dig in.

Giving it a proper go: Got a libretto and some commentary as well, planning on 1-2 hours a night for the next few weeks.

Well, I'll hold for the Utopia, then.

Over a decade of dedicated headphone listening, I've decided that these are the things I most care about. In your estimation, what's the last word on transparency and resolving ability among dynamic headphones today?

I'm ripping ISOs to .dsf, which works a treat. Doing it straight command line with .bat files and context menus. Uses a Mr_Wicked script for the .ISO to DFF, then a script written by Jussi Laako (Of HQPlayer) for the DFF to DSF preserving the metadata in the .ISO. I don't play anything with JRiver any longer, after switching to Roon and HQPlayer, but I still use JRiver for metadata, tagging, and organization.

Fantastic! Happy birthday, Jim!

That was an interesting piece. I like it because it makes me feel smart for making the choices I had previously made in ignorance. Seriously, though, that filter sounds lovely.

I still love you. Let's never fight again.

John, that is a truly enviable piece of gear. One of few amps that make an RK50 look like a reasonable volume control.

You take that subjectivist nonsense elsewhere, Tice. We have maths to fuck with, here.

Yes, indeed.
