So far so good ;-) I don't know, but since I live in a small flat in a big town, dust is an issue. Maybe one day I will try to upgrade the dust cover. Anyway, I agree that it is not the 'wow' phone, I like it much better after a few weeks have been passed, only the bass which I'd like to be a bit tighter, I guess some extra power should help with that.

Blow, waft I guess it means the same I just didn't know which word to choose.

Today's ESP950 experience: I had some noises again, this time from the right side. I tried pushing towards my ears, it changed but didn't go away. Then I read this wafting thingy might work, at first it didn't but then I decided to waft from the side panel (not the earpad side), and it did work. And now it became even better 'cause for the first time it is completely silent now. So this is a good excuse to postpone getting a wallwart for the E/90 again I guess having a de-foamed set plays a significant role in these events.

Happy Birthday!

I just see those for cheap sometimes and I was thinking a good sounding closed headphone with Stax written on the sides

Just a quick question: do SR-X type drivers fit in a SR-50 electret shell (and if yes, does it makes any sense)? Thanks.

Thanks! I'm finding it quite funny that it means the opposite in UK English, I guess it is always good to learn something new

WTF? I fired it up today and there is no imbalance! I've checked it multiple times (I always used the volume knob to correct it) and it is really gone! Maybe it was the amp? Needless to say I am very happy. It is not perfect because if I turn the volume to zero there is the occasional slight noises from the left but zero squealing so it seems fine. Still haven't tried it with the E/90, I guess I will go and get a wall wart for it later in the week.

What about that picture of the three SR-Omegas, okay there is a hybrid among them, but maybe there is another one that is fully broken by now

Doesn't say how many will be made.

I didn't hear the ESW9s but I'm still missing the ESW10JPNs. It sounded great even without any amplification.

SR-404 Limited at Yahoo Japan (not a bad price) Short description of the sound

Once I get mine, I will compare it with y1 lite using two PCs and the input switcher on the T1S.

It has been discussed before. Stax amps are not necessarily bad, but they are built to a price, otherwise they couldn't make any profit on them. O2 is hard to drive, so a 717 is at least recommended.

I've contacted KOSS and it seems that I am able to send it to the USA even from the EU which is good news. Trouble is, which shipping method to choose, it won't be cheap even if I send only the phones (without cable) and the amp and it will take a lot of time as well. And what happens if I get it back and the problem comes back...it wouldn't be nice at all. But I need to test it with the E/90 as well because that's what they will use to test out the channel imbalance and the misterious noises.

No, I am sure the left driver is the source of this noise, I checked it with the earpads removed as well and it is somewhere down, near the cable connection. Sometimes it goes away but sometimes in some tracks it reaches audible levels so it can become rather annonying. Other issue I recently found is channel imbalance but I need to check it with the E/90 as well to be 100% sure. Sometime in the future it will be sent to KOSS but as I recently learned, from the EU it can be tricky so I might organize a loan with somebody here who is interested in hearing it, hoping that in the end I will get a new set back

Okay after a few days I discovered that the dustcover (shall I call it like that?) noise is actually coming from the left driver. It is a barely audible popping noise (sometimes fast sometimes slow) and it comes from near the cable connection and that is transformed to the dustcover. This is with zero volume and no source connected. Not enough yet to bother with removing the cable and sending it back to the USA but a little worrying.

I fiddled a bit with the fit and now it is much better. The bass is significantly more than with the LNS and the soundstage is a bit smaller but overall it is more enjoyable(need to hear it with a better source, though). Now I just need to hear from somebody who had no trouble with validating the warranty outside the US and nothing more to worry about

I don't, but it is too extended in terms of width

Got mine today (APS modded and recabled). Sounds damn nice out of the y1 and T1S (haven't tried with the E/90 cause it is not set to EU voltage) but I guess with the Pico it will be better (I will compare the two). Only trouble is, when I move my head, it is a bit noisy, maybe because the the fit is not optimal for my big ears. I had some issues with the LNS as well (with old pads) but not with the almost brand new SR-404 that I listened to a while ago.

Investigation into possible mods for the Stax SR-404
padam replied to spritzer's topic in Headphones
I had this curiosity so I thought I ask: after all these mods, will it sound like a LNS which you described as a bit boring? -
