  1. Never tried but this might be good for stat fans:
  2. Sorry, misunderstood the question It was made from 1994 but probably discontinued shortly after (no surprise then)
  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. Happy birthday!
  5. The closer the better
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. And the transport + source + cables
  8. Maybe this sounds good: Headphile SR-X Pro
  9. The leather pads of the SR-404LE bring the ears closer to the drivers so they do have a noticeable effect on the frequency response. That's why I wouldn't be so sure that they use the same drivers.
  10. There is no damping in any of the modern Lambdas so it has to be the drivers that add some difference. By the way, I am using SR-5NB with Alpha Pro Excellent drivers and cable since a few days and it might just be the headphone I like the most. Interesting that its origins can be traced back to the SR-1 which is now 50 years old
  11. Do you think others don't have the same idea in mind? I wouldn't have linked this here if it came at a different time
  12. Here it is again: STAX SIGMA EARPHONES + SRM-T1W VACUUM TUBE DRIVER UNIT - eBay Headphones, Headphones, Headsets, Audio, Electronics. (end time 18-May-10 09:47:18 AEST) Somebody must have made a superb deal on it as this pair was certainly one of the last pairs ever made (highest serial I've ever seen) and in beautiful condition. There is an SR-007 Mk1 at Fujiya Avic as well if you are interested.
  13. Happy birthday!
  14. The two final candidates for me are the HiFace or the Musiland Monitor 02 since these are the two which support asynchronous data transfer.
  15. Now the other question is whether a shouty one works better in a Sigma enclosure or they will sound the same.
  16. I will probably go with this or the M2Tech Hiface, still haven't decided yet.
  17. Happy Birthday, Justin!
  18. I've just fired up the eXStatA today with the Sigma Pro (finally!!). The usual roll-off problems remain like I heard before but what is there sounds very nice - vocals are especially great and of course there is that huge headstage. The amp does not seem to have quite enough 'oomph' to drive it via RCA, but XLR seems to be just fine.
  19. Happy birthday!
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Is this amp powerful enough to drive orthodynamic phones?
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. Happy birthday Milos!
  24. If this sounds as good as it looks, I want one Anybody tried the Superlux phones (I mean the new ones)? I heard from a friend of mine that they are really good for what they cost - but they look like an ugly meeting of an AKG and an ATH.
  25. There is one CD3k in Japan that is quite minty Plus it has all the necessary extra NOS parts so it can look 100% new (at least for a while cause the pleather likes to deteoriate too quickly) - I doubt it will sell for cheap though. Also, the CD3000s sounded too unbalanced - at least for me - too much highs and rolled of bass (with not much impact) but the soundstage and comfort was nice, it is still definitely one of the better closed headphones and might work a lot better in a matched system. I didn't hear the woodied T50RP (or in fact any orthos) but I am keen to try/own them sometime in the future.
