I guess I didn't post it in this thread, but Herbie and Kamasi (and Branford Marsalis and Joshua Redman) filled in four nights for Wayne Shorter who was ill and couldn't perform at SFJAZZ in January. It was a hell of a lineup and I was especially impressed that a young dude like Terrace hung in there with this super group. Herbie Hancock piano & keyboards Terence Blanchard trumpet Terrace Martin alto saxophone & keyboards Danilo Pérez piano John Patitucci bass Brian Blade drums Kamasi was on a different night with everyone but Terence, but I was out of town for the rest of the shows.

Those are a couple of shows I'd like to catch. Mikey, did Terrace play mostly sax or some combination with keys and percussion and stuff? He's super talented and interesting. Lionel is a straight up genius. Herbie is beyond.
  3. RIP Toni Morrison. ? https://www.google.com/amp/s/beta.washingtonpost.com/local/obituaries/toni-morrison-nobel-laureate-who-transfigured-american-literature-dies-at-88/2019/08/06/49cd4d46-b84d-11e9-a091-6a96e67d9cce_story.html%3FoutputType%3Damp 88 is nothing to sneeze at, but still sad to see her pass.
  4. Never knew his name but do like the themes and music of those shows. RIP Barrington. And 65 used to seem so old... ?
  5. The first two are great so they should be put to one side as you suggest. I'm going to try to give it a fairly objective listen.
  6. Have a great one Todd! Cheers!
  7. Condolences Antonio. ? RIP Uncle Manolo
  8. Roast beef with yorkshire pudding, cauliflower, taters and rocket. Plus a cool strudel with figs and cheese and stuff in it (not pictured). Split moitié-moitié (still thinking in French)
  9. Felice cumpleanõs Antonio! I stepped into Spain today at the border with France near La Pierre St. Martin. I would have wished you happy birthday then but now will have to do! Have a wonderful evening! Cheers!
  10. "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die." RIP Rutger
  11. RIP Art. ?
  12. I've just learned that there is a Grand Prix race around the city of Pau in formula 3 cars. That seems completely nuts and the sound can be heard clearly for many miles. Had anyone watched that before?
  13. I wonder if my '71 Bug is still going strong. RIP BUG And RIP to Justice John Paul Stevens. Badass name for a judge who let his conscience and the law dictate his decisions instead of his political party.
  14. Happy Claire was happy and needed a short nap following the 3.5 hour lunch and a little buzzed shopping. Adam--yes, we are heading south on Tuesday and we will see two stages of the Tour in and near Pau. The last time we went to the Tour was Lance Armstrong's seventh "win"
  15. Today we had probably the most delicious and certainly the most expensive lunch of our lives at the two Michelin star restaurant at Bernard Magrez's La Grand Maison. Before we ordered anything, five or six plates containing at least seven amuse bouches arrived, along with suggested order of consumption. I got distracted and forgot to photograph them. We went for the six course lunch with wine pairings. Dessert was actually five different desserts each followed by two more treats to amuse our bouches. Extraordinary food paired with incredible wines. I also forgot to photograph the rump of veal. Dommage.
  16. Pip Pip and RIP Rip

So exciting that Cunty Camper the necro troll is back! Now posts once every 4-5 years to see if he can poke the bear and get a reaction. Best to ignore and just post a bit of an exchange with the great troll crusher of old, Matt the Younger. ~~snipped some witty repartée by us and cunty responses~~ Fuck you Matt, I miss you.
  19. Claire's double strawberry cake matched the sunset
  20. RIP João. ?
  21. So sad that @swt61 doesn't even remember Mike even though he started the other lower case b-baker's thread. ? Hope you are having a good one anyway Mike! Cheers!
  22. Go Birgir, go Birgir, it's your birthday, rape and pillage, like it's your birthday! Cheers!
  23. Looking good, Jeff. You might consider a post cap or even a solar post cap light because the flat top piece may not last in rain and snow, etc.
  24. Cheers Greg!
