Speaking of freedom, my wife and kids also went to the festival. We live three blocks from Golden Gate Park so we could just walk in when we wanted to be there. The first night appeared disastrously disorganized and JP kept saying the revolution was going to begin in the ID Check and pizza lines that spanned the entire width of one venue about one-third of the way back from the stage. People had to walk through the line to get up to see the stage and nobody could possibly tell what the hell was going on. There was a choke point between that stage -- Beck -- and the next stage over for the main show -- Radiohead -- that was literally insane and led to people -- including my wife and 10 yr old son -- toppling and trampling the temporary cyclone fencing and creating a different egress. Yesterday was a full day and it all seemed better run and less anarchic. We managed a good spot for M. Ward/Regina Spektor and then an even better one for TP & the HBs, which would have been about 25-30 rows back if there was seating. Today's lineup of interest is going to be: Stars, Andrew Bird, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Broken Social Scene, Rogue Wave, Wilco, and Jack Johnson. Not sure about Sharon Jones and Rogue Wave because all the others before JJ are at the same stage and it might just be a [relatively] mellow day with some breaks rather than running all over the place. If this thing happens again next year, Mike, that would be the time to come. It will be better run and may attract even bigger names.

Is the Purity Audio stuff really fully discrete?
Voltron replied to Icarium's topic in Headphone Amplification
Didn't you get any birthday checks from any auties or uncles you could put towards a KIKAS Caliente? -
Got timed out on the edit because of a phone-call, thus the self-quote: Before JimP or anybody else gets bent out of shape, I have no ill-will toward Pudge and have no independent corroboration of steroid use. As a SF Giants and Barry Bonds fan I have lived through a lot of grief, but the last time I saw Pudge in Oakland earlier this summer he was a shell of his former shell and the assumption of course is that Canseco was telling it straight on that one. Who knows.

Too bad old Pudge turned to poop without the juice.

I'm curious why you never come out and say that your amp is a discrete design, given that the direct question has been asked here and on HF. I don't really care one way or the other, but what is the answer? -
Love the Heat Mizer with the LD VI in his clutches. Good luck and check to make sure your insurance is up to date...

Each unit ships with a Cold Mizer inside!

Matt the Younger is another year older! Enjoy the new Transporter if my understanding/assumption is correct. I quaff my last bit of Racer 5 in your honor, and will try to work a Pliny into the day tomorrow somehow. Wish you were going to be here for the music festival this weekend. Should be epic. Cheers! Oh yeah, and don't get all excited and go parasailing in a hurricane or even a tropical storm.

Happy birthday Ricey! Happy listening and imbibing and what-all else you got going on! cheers

What If I Were Looking For a Complementary HP for The 750..?
Voltron replied to Contrastique's topic in Headphones
I know you don't want to spend the money on them now, but the Ed.9 makes for a good mobile headphone. A little bit bling, but I think you can pull it off! They are low-profile, the cord is not excessive, and they both fold flat and have a very small, flat case. I screwed up the mobility of mine a bit by converting to balanced but I used them on the ferry and on airplanes before reterminating. This is as good a time as any to just DEW EET! -
I really wouldn't worry either. 650 seems like a low-ball offer to me but if you want to take a shot all they can do is say no or ignore you. If you pay up front (assuming they have good feedback) then they are at no risk with even a new A-gon member. Also, give them a link to your HF/HC feedback. Oh, and I don't believe you need shielded speakers either, but go for it!

They look even better in person. I am planning on mono-block amps (one for Left and one for Right) so that with my Desktop Amp and Power Supply I can have two component boxes in each speaker stand. Symmetry is good is symmetry.

Welcome to Head-Case Skace, hope you don't have a thin skin. That is a big leap you are considering but the HeadRoom desktop setup is a high-end audio solution right on your desk. You could also use it with other audio sources like CD player or Squeezebox or whatever both on your desktop or in a non-desk home setup. It is very good and the sound is amazing. The flexibility of using it for speakers or for headphones is great, and I have half of the setup right now--the HD Desktop Amp with DAC--and have contemplated getting rid of my powered speakers and going with the rest of the Audiophile Desktop setup. As far as USB goes, it is a good option and will take all digital audio sources from your computer and turn them into quality sound in your HR setup. The DAC in the HR amp will be much better than your sound card in your computer. If your computer has a s/pdif or optical digital output then you can use those. My laptop dock has s/pdif out so I use that and think it works great. There is no real downside to the USB option, however, so don't get hung up on it. Any HR amp/DAC taking any digital signal from your computer will give you sound like you have not experienced through your computer speaker setup. Lastly, I will point out that if you just want to skip a lot of the cost and the gear, you could get powered speakers. There are several threads on this site and on Head-Fi that talk about options. There is one that has a DAC in the speakers, although those things cost a lot of cash as well. Good luck, but you can feel comfortable dealing with HeadRoom because it is a great company. Its owner, Tyll Hertsens, is a member here so you can always ask him your questions too.

Great pics Peter and Dan. And, Dan, I never thought of you as that artsy. I think your new HC name should be Grawktastique (but please no nude shots)! -
Does he have the Clap again?

Missing that action is a good thing. Stay safe Mike, Vicki, Dom, Crappy, etc.

recstar: did you snag the Moth Audio Si3A3/45? I saw your Zana on sale and that Moth didn't last minutes, so I wondered if you got it.
