  1. No comprendo. Tone is downloaded and it took seconds for mine to be complete.
  2. Oh, yeah, looking at the Tone article and the "Afterward" by Dorgay reminds me that the reviewer did all his listening single-ended! One of the very greatest balanced amplifiers of all time and he listened out of the 1/4" jack.
  3. Too true. How many times have they started stupid fights that just make them look like retards?
  4. /me *hides ALO iMod dock*
  5. I haven't looked at the mag yet, but I saw an advance copy when I was at Todd's. Their reviews are weak, and his emphasis on how you would need to "hide" the the TTVJ amp from your audiophile friends seemed awkwardly naive, plus stupid. There is another review in the works that will have a little more depth and get a much broader exposure.

    Burning Amp!

Time flies, Grahame! It seemed far off in the future when you mentioned this over the summer. Burning Amp looks wacky, but I don't really know what goes on there. We'll have to talk. Should we have a full-on meet that saturday at your place or should we keep it smaller? Claire is out of town, so I will have kid duty but can work around that.
  7. Well, bper, you will be part of the "Third Largest & Most Ethnically Diverse Incoming Class" at R-H with only 88% caucasians! As others have said, enjoy yourself to the greatest extent possible among all of those geeks!
  8. Damn, I wish I could see what the newegg item was! Am I the only one who thinks [hopes] that Jeepster was making a funny?
  9. Yeah, have you made any other edicts that we should be aware of so we don't waste our time making up our own minds or hearing anyone else's opinions?
  10. Did you mean . . . By the way, have a great birthday Jack!
  11. I think this one would fetch more if David wanted big bucks on a raffle!
  12. I am curious about the Luxman gear as well, and will consider one of the integrated amps for a MOA solution that the family can operate a little easier. I checked out the amp at Todd's (he's a Luxman rep, btw) and did not get the sense it was cheaply built at all. I would love to hear that HP amp just to see how it compares with some of the other solid state options out there. Is it true that there are balanced inputs but no balanced headphone outputs?
  13. Congrats and enjoy! Good decision.
  14. Sony 32" BRAVIA
  15. Well? What are you so excited about?
  16. It was a good show, although I left with my daughter 2/3 of the way through so that we could get a spot for Jack Johnson, which is what she was looking forward to. I have seen Wilco and Tweedy solo about 5 times, and this one was good but not the best. Stars were ok but not exciting. Andrew Bird was great, and very trippy, as you might imagine. Played and sampled violin and guitar and he whistles like a son of a bitch. JP went over to Sharon Jones but I skipped that and Rogue Wave. Broken Social Scene was very rockin' and sounded good. JP doesn't know them, but he thought AB and BSS were good shows and it seemed better than he thought. Jack Johnson had great sound but it was overall a bit boring. I am wiped after that weekend. As JP said a few times, the idea of a weekend music festival is really appealing but the fact of it is tiring.
  17. OK, then don't bother and just tell us how glorious it sounds with the 45s!
  18. I was certain you had bought that beauty when I saw the HF listing for your ZD and the Moth amp listed as Sale Pending almost immediately. I know you wanted to find that particular amp and congrats on snagging it. I would love to hear some real comparisons of the 2a3 vs. 45. I did not *love* JP's Si2a3 with headphones but it did sound great with his speaker setup. This amp, however, is really intriguing because of the 45s. When you have some time, that would be great.
  19. Speaking of freedom, my wife and kids also went to the festival. We live three blocks from Golden Gate Park so we could just walk in when we wanted to be there. The first night appeared disastrously disorganized and JP kept saying the revolution was going to begin in the ID Check and pizza lines that spanned the entire width of one venue about one-third of the way back from the stage. People had to walk through the line to get up to see the stage and nobody could possibly tell what the hell was going on. There was a choke point between that stage -- Beck -- and the next stage over for the main show -- Radiohead -- that was literally insane and led to people -- including my wife and 10 yr old son -- toppling and trampling the temporary cyclone fencing and creating a different egress. Yesterday was a full day and it all seemed better run and less anarchic. We managed a good spot for M. Ward/Regina Spektor and then an even better one for TP & the HBs, which would have been about 25-30 rows back if there was seating. Today's lineup of interest is going to be: Stars, Andrew Bird, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Broken Social Scene, Rogue Wave, Wilco, and Jack Johnson. Not sure about Sharon Jones and Rogue Wave because all the others before JJ are at the same stage and it might just be a [relatively] mellow day with some breaks rather than running all over the place. If this thing happens again next year, Mike, that would be the time to come. It will be better run and may attract even bigger names.
  20. Nice.
  21. Breakdown by TP and the HBs live -- right now -- at the outside lands music fest. Stevie Winwood came out for two songs as well. Here with JP Nums. Earlier today was M. Ward, Kaki King, galactic and Regina Spektor. Last night was Beck and Radiohead. Rockin good time peanut!

  23. Didn't you get any birthday checks from any auties or uncles you could put towards a KIKAS Caliente?
  24. Got timed out on the edit because of a phone-call, thus the self-quote: Before JimP or anybody else gets bent out of shape, I have no ill-will toward Pudge and have no independent corroboration of steroid use. As a SF Giants and Barry Bonds fan I have lived through a lot of grief, but the last time I saw Pudge in Oakland earlier this summer he was a shell of his former shell and the assumption of course is that Canseco was telling it straight on that one. Who knows.
