Rest In Punk, Chris. Condolences Todd, that's a tough loss. 😢

Can't decide which I like better. Found both because @manaox2 is a member of the FB Kubrick Society and he posted the first one.

I'm just having breakfast, so that's a good suggestion!

Happy New Year HC! #NFLO

I was beginning to think she couldn't die. It would have been nice for her to make it to 100 next month (same birthday as my brother and same birth year as my father). RIP Betty.

The Knuckledragger 3rd Memorial Slow Forum Post

A little misguided use of English by this lotion store in Paris. And a fun translation for a manger scene. And Baby Jesus is in fact chillin in his crib -
Belated birthday greetings! Cheers

Oh, and speaking of UC Davis, I saw Desmond Tutu speak while I was in school there. It was during the anti apartheid demonstrations and the UC system was rife with sit-ins and students occupying buildings, etc. It was a truly moving experience, even in my animal house phase (has it ended?). I had been working as an intern for the California Lt. Gov. Leo McCarthy and he spoke too. The magic of the internet produced a video of the whole event, so I'm going to relive it shortly. Here it is in case anybody would possibly be interested. https://video.ucdavis.edu/media/TutuA+A+Celebration+of+Human+Rights/1_lsfznxso/25823992 RIP Bishop Tutu

RIP artist Wayne Thiebaud at 101. He was a professor at my alma mater UC Davis so I saw his work early in life. He is most famous for his cakes and ice creams and such, but I loved his streetscapes of SF and also his quirky portraits. My dad grew up next door to Richard Diebenkorn, and Thiebaud was influenced by him and his city streets and parks always reminded of him (not an original or unique observation, just to be clear). RIP Prof. after a very good innings. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/12/26/obituaries/wayne-thiebaud-dead.amp.html

Bon Anniversaire and Joyeux Noël from France! Cheers!

I saw this post in the wee hours in a jet lag haze and couldn't remember what thread it was in when I remembered to respond. Thanks for the offer, but we have a direct flight to SF so I won't be dropping by this year. Cheers!

Bon anniversaire Ken! Cheers!

I was going to say that it was some typically anti-festool internet bullshit but I hoped Steve would chime in first. Modern wood glues are amazing, but the physical support of the swollen tenon across the narrow stripes, and wider ones too, has to provide more strength in my opinion. Not suggesting anyone needs to do it, but it like to.
-
Also an exaggeration, I know, but did you use any dominoes in your boards? I did on mine and I think it worked well. For the thin strips, I clamped them to a larger piece and cut the mortise through them. I used glue on each layer and longer dominoes to pass through sometimes multiple layers. You have to be careful on placement because the chamfer or cove could possibly cut through the ends of the dominoes if too close to the edge. Just a thought for future reference.

I thought the joke was that the owner of the cutting board will be dead from the poison woods long before the colors fade...

RIP RR. We will definitely make a pilgrimage to the Pompidou.

He looked so young and innocent there.

Is it possible that nobody made any Mattnog in 2021? Seems like a tragedy. The Mason jar sidecar shown above in my 2020 nog pics was consumed last night with some freshly whipped cream and it was delicious. Reposted here for the sake of the historical record. We'll need to do better in 2022... In looking for pics of ironbut Steve, I happened upon this one of Matt and me in SF. By very random coincidence, I'm wearing the same t-shirt today. 😏
