  1. To quote JP, there would be no shame in that game!
  2. Are you really coming out for that show, Dusty? I might go with you, but not exactly sure because I will be back in trial at that point. Enjoy getting cultured tonight, Ric.
  3. I've never heard of Halou. Oh well. Last night was SF Symphony with MTT. Hindemith's Concert Music for String Orchestra and Brass was pleasant although MTT's exuberant intro almost built it up too much. Then Ann Sofie von Otter sang Scandinavian Songs in Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian and Danish, and I had a hard time looking at her due to the silliness of her facial expressions and body gestures. Her voice was beautiful even singing those odd tongues, but the quick encore was a song in Italian and that seemed easier to grasp even though her jaunty gestures were completely out of control for that one. The closer was Brahm's Serenade No. 1, which was nice romantic fare. Tonight is going to be Kaki King and Zoe Keating. Wish Vicki were here, but I did invite immtbiker now that we are sure we are going. Grahame, Ric, or anyone else in the neighborhood should pick up some tix too. 8pm show.
  4. Thanks Todd!!!
  5. Tuna tartare and filet mignon usually do not suck, let alone the hedonistic wine selection! Nice, Greg. Cheers to you with your very own CanJam LA glencairn! Beauty drink there Jim.
  6. Excellent purchase Jim! Nice selection as always, Mikey. And the glass is a stone classic! Shelly and Marc and Naaman and Dinny you have all made a good showing. Dan, I guess it is payback for last night. Sorry about that. Picking up one of Mikey's threads and drinking with it...
  7. Good news all around, Andy!
  8. Lykke Li -- Wounded Rhymes
  9. I have the basic Yarai and it is quite nice. The seam is unseamly but I don't really care about it that much. I really like the Oxo hawthorn strainer if you just want a functional one. I love the Japanese trident spoon that I got for christmas, which I believe is 42cm. The Bronzer with the round cap end is 10.5" and that is the shortest I would get. Whatever you do, make sure it has the twisted shaft because that is what makes it work smoothly. The .75/.50 jigger is a good thing. I have a .75/1.25 that I like and use a lot. The Oxo little angled measuring cup/jiggers in plastic and metal are great.
  10. Did Mike tell you he was giving the Speedmaster to you as a birthday gift?!
  11. Whoa, whoa, whoa! I welcomed Seth but I didn't just open the floodgates on newbies prancing all around and communicating with each other and making shovel references. You had better check yourself before you're on the shelf, Gimmethecash!
  12. Look at you and your wild life! Have a fantastic birthday Mr. DIYer! Too bad we weren't all together for it like last year, but you have a great present about to enter the world so I guess we can let you off the hook. Cheers!
  13. My nightcap is a Germain Robin XO. Nice beverage.
  14. Young Man Cocktail 1 Dash Angostura Bitters. (1 dash Angostura Bitters) 2 Dashes Curacao. (1/2 teaspoon Senor Curacao) 1/4 Italian Vermouth. (3/4 oz Perucchi Italian Vermouth) 3/4 Brandy. (2 1/4 oz Maison Surenne) Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. Add olive or cherry. Cherry, puhlease!
  15. Seth is clearly a class individual because he is buying from Smegs. My response makes perfect sense. And I have been drinking.
  16. There are two watches pictured, but I have to imagine you mean the Panerai because it is stunning and you might not even notice the Suunto after seeing it. Beautiful choices Jeff.
  17. Japalac looks promising in a weird way. The rum Alexander looks very tasty, and I can see why you sloshed it down quickly. The brandy version aint half bad neither.
  18. Welcome Seth. You made a good choice ordering T-Pants from Smeggy, and you should look around Head-Case, get to know it a bit, and also make good choices about how you post here at first. We're quite a bit different from the norm, but plenty of fun if you get the gist. Oh, and thanks for the pink Dalek cake comment. I found that avatar for Smegs who has used Dalek pics for years. Cheers!
