  1. I do a much better Jimmy Stewart but I could try.
  2. True enough for most alcohol, but I think rye needs a kick and 80 proof just don't kick anymore.
  3. I never say "jagbag" you cunt! I speak English with proficiency and it is not legally "impossible" for me to sit on the jury from March 22 until April 8, so I have to report back next week before I can be thanked and excused by the prosecution. I actually wouldn't mind serving on the jury this time. It can't be a death penalty case, and my trial starts back up on april 14 so I could manage it if I had to.
  4. The "prohibition era recipe" means "add water to extend it." Fuck 80 proof rye. Even that Russell's crap is 90 proof.
  5. We're mostly assholes here, so you'll get a different flavor of response.
  6. Not really, but you posed a classic "which X should I buy if I already have Y" and we don't go in for that much around here. Try head-fi.org and you should knee-deep in suggestions. Also, read the link in my signature to get a little sense of this forum. Cheerio.
  7. Thank you for your concern, now let us continue our pathetic and pitiable existence without the keen glare of your scrutiny and incisive criticism. And fuck yourself with your added free time. Note to the other pathetic members: Dinny is on fire today! I am choking back laughter while watching a patriotic video about jury service.
  8. Sitting in the jury assembly room at criminal court waiting to not get picked for trial.
  9. Knock 'em dead, Jacob! Er, um, I mean, you know, metaphorically.
  10. Following Jim is the theme for the night so I made a Fourth Regiment to kill off the Russell's Rye, which i will not buy again. Had only 2oz so I adjusted down, and rhubarb is practically celery, right? Note: l took out the eyes before drinking so as not to choke on them.
  11. Get 'em all Dinny!
  12. I had the same inspiration as Jim and made essentially the same drink in the form of a Savoy Manhattan Cocktail No. 1, although I had to double the rye. Manhattan Cocktail (No. 1) Use small Bar glass. 2 Dashes Curacao or Maraschino. 1 Pony Rye Whisky (ok, two pony glasses of Russell's Rye) 1 Wineglass Vermouth (Mixed -- Dolin Dry and Perucchi Italian) 3 Dashes Angostura Bitters (3 dashes Fees Old Fashioned Bitters) Shake up well (stir), and strain into a claret glass. Put a quarter of a slice of lemon In the glass and serve. If preferred very sweet add two dashes of gum syrup.
  13. I still don't know shit, but the board would have to be screwed up to call for a part with pins 1-2-3 to be soldered 1-3-2. And digger reminds me that it looks like the input pin is not connected or not adequately connected but the picture isn't clear.
  14. I hope you succeed.
  15. I don't know shit, but how could it be correct to switch the ground and output pins on a voltage regulator? And is it in backwards?
  16. Nice Dan. I don't usually make a Dry Manhattan (half or all dry vermouth) but have you ever used an olive or lemon instead of a cherry?
  17. Is that a lychee on the stick? Looks odd in the pic.
  18. It was even scarier when Ric posted it yesterday.
  19. Then limp on out of here and post on his blog.
  20. Those before and afters are horrifying.
  21. Horace Silver Quintet and Trio -- Blowin' the Blues Away AP 45RPM The blues I am presently trying to blow away stem from an argument with my 15 yo daughter regarding her application to a Columbia University summer program after we had just finished a nice dinner. She is supposed to FINALLY be done with the application for this program that was all her idea and I mentioned that we would be looking it over whenever she finished. "That's not fair! I won't show you my personal statement! etc. etc. etc." Oh well, it will probably blow over quickly but it is indicative of how private and detached from us that she wants to be. Sheesh, I am jealous of Mike and his seemingly fantastic relationship with both of his kids.
  22. What is the analogy?
  23. Awesome Hercules potion Marc! I want to make the Zed when Erik finishes the Savoy cocktails but I lack the demigod juice. Now enjoying a Scofflaw with the meltdown colored Fees grenadine. Very timely and very tasty.
  24. The 2008 Saz is a nice one to finish off! Damn. Making a Scofflaw in moments. Thanks for the reco, I have a lot of rye in Mayberry and we will be living there full time while we do some remodeling in SF. Won't need to buy it for awhile, but the 100 is definitely the right pick over the 80. Great label. I like Merlot and still think that Sideways did a terrible thing. I really need to get you onto my buddy's wine mailing list. Anybody else that wants to be added let me know. He is in Healdsburg, he gets great allocations of hard to find stuff, and ships anywhere in the US that is legal.
