Great news for Shelly and Beefy, indeed. My mom was doing pretty great after her last, scary hospital stay until Wednesday when she had a minor stroke. Since recovering her wits and with the double vision mostly subsiding, she has felt fine but she spent the last three days in the hospital again. To add to the good news, however, she is going home this afternoon. Her vision is still not completely normal, but we are waiting to see if it is permanent. All in all pretty amazing for a relatively frail and ailing 84-year-old.

Hey Mikey! Nice looking whisky. I had a nice Monk's Revenge cocktail earlier, following The Anvil Bar's recipe for its own creation. 1.5 oz Benedictine .75 oz Rye (Thos. Handy) barspoon each of Campari and Fernet Branca Stir with ice, strain, chant a bit, and enjoy. Very tasty and not sweet even with all that liqueur. Amen!

Critical Mass riders can be a total pain in the ass and will pick out cars to taunt by circling them or by filling intersections or whatever, and I have to admit that idea has crossed my mind on a couple of occasions. Never did it, but thought about it.

I don't like regular Eagle Rare either, but this year's 17yo Eagle Rare in the antique collection is quite good.

I will try one of those shakes but not tonight. Now in the Williamsburg 'hood. Same recipe but with Pappy 15. Dropping down to 107 proof tames this one quite a bit. Moar approachable.
