  1. That truly sucks! First the cut, then the long wait in ER. Wow! That must be some wound with the hacksaw. 7 stitches is a pretty large cut. Wishing you quick healing and fast recovery.
  2. Happy Birthday!!!
  3. Congrats Mike. I've had better days. I drove west to east across lower Michigan to get to my campsite for my annual grouse hunting trip. 5 straight hours. While hooking the trailer up I discover my water filter is leakng like a sieve. Dismantle it and see I need a new O ring. Go to hook up cable TV and discover a 25 coaxial cable is too short. Look at where the sewer connection is and where my dump valves are and I'm about 5 foot short in total length, and this takes into account two hoses. Decide to go to the little town and see if I can find a hardware store. It's 4:30 pm and the town will roll up its sidewalk at 5:00 pm. Get to the hardware store and find a 100' coaxial cable. Great, I'll have TV tonight. Amazing, they have the right O ring. OK, I'm on a roll. Now where are those sewer hoses? They don't have any. So I leave and wonder of wonders, there is a second hardware store in the tiny berg. Nope, they don't have sewer hoses either. No worries. It's not urgent and I can always move the trailer to dump if I need to. Ask for and go to the best pizza place in the area. Order take out, go to the truck to call my wife. Before I do the phone rings and it is the campground. They tell me my trailer is on fire and would appreciate it if I can return immediately. Cancel my pizza order and go back to the campground. I go right to the trailer. Hmmm. No fire trucks. No smoke. No crowds. Open up the trailer. Everything is fine. About this time the campground staff arrives and takes me to the back side of the trailer. OK, I can see dark soot. Apparently my hot water heater caught on fire. But one of my neighbors saw the flames and turned off the propane putting the fire out. No hot water but otherwise the trailer is fine. I am camping after all and can survive the week without hot water at the trailer. There are public restrooms with showers afterall. Ask the campground staff to call my pizza order back in. Hook up the cable and take the dog for a walk. Go back to town to pick up my pizza. "What order" they say. No, the campground did not call in my order. Reordered, called my wife to share the days events, pick up the pizza and return to the trailer. Seems the areas best pizza is some of the worse pizza I've ever had. I'm going to consume several adult beverages now, and the Glencairn glasses look like the perfect vessel. Cheers!
  4. My 2 yr old grandson will love this!
  5. Happy Birthday!!!
  6. Last year when my daughter graduated from WMU I promised we would go to the MSU/WMU football game. Easy to guess what day that is Y'all have a great time!
  7. Interesting. When faced with a similar situation I sent $50 of flowers with a short hand written note. In my case the 80+ yr old lady was truly reticent and I did it to help her through the self torture/pity she was heaping on herself. Her son called to thank me!
  8. MSU 26, UofM 20 Congratulations to the MSU Spartans!
  9. Took my two year old grandson to a local sporting goods store. We spent a good hour looking at all the gear and equipment. Fondled the lures, stroked the rods, dreamed through showcases of spinning reels, spotting scopes and handguns. Looked longingly at the row of long arms behind the counter. Admired the graphs and downriggers. Picked up our first arrow, sat in a tree stand and ogled the bows. I may have corrupted him for life!
  10. Watched episode 6 last night. At the end of the episode it showed the NPS was committed to a policy of restoration, as in put the parks back to their original pristine states. Did not address the issue of logging specifically. BTW, I'm aware of the Forestry Service and BLM being pro logging. I'm not aware of logging being an issue in our National Parks. Unclear regarding the issue in our National Monuments. In fact Redwood National Park was specifically formed to stop the logging of redwoods. That park alone preserved literally half of the remaining redwoods.
  11. Caught the first 2 hours in the series. Well done.

Thought about going to school at North Dakota State. Then I figured out that they have real winters...not teasers like the Great Lake States. Not going there was one of the better decisions of m youth.
  13. First full day at work this week. Contracted some nasty virus that had me down since Sunday.
  14. 2nd generation Drobo
  15. Easy game to get hooked on. I'm not so fond of super technical courses, but do like tight fairways that require some skill to navigate. Unfortunately, I'm not skilled.
  16. Nice looking disc! Just ordered a Drobo.
  17. Happy Birthday !!!
  18. Happy Birthday !!!
  19. Seems like a cynical viewpoint. Nelson Mandella and Ghandi no doubt were considered average by their peers, but their dreams and goals were not. Average Americans get vast areas of the United States designated as Wilderness. Plenty of examples of actions of average Citizens which have changed our world. Pursuing your beliefs and putting action to your goals is commitment. Commitment is the spark that causes a flame, a flame a fire, a fire a conflagration. Ultimately what we choose to do, or not, does matter.
  20. Went to my "second" daughter's wedding. Actually, she is a friend of my oldest daughter but she always considered herself one of my daughters. One of the perks of my tenure as Mr Mom. Good times, old friends and I'm very happy for her!
  21. Ditto. A question for the ages. In my case I wonder if I'm too self absorbed or are other peeps that shallow?
  22. Just returned from a high school football game. The school where my wife teaches was down 6-48 at the half
  23. Good luck! At least you'll be there in fall and winter with reduced humidity and no hurricanes.
