I purchased a 47 inch LCD about 6 weeks ago. LED is not quite ready for prime time IMO. Basically it is used for back lighting. Unless the user is a videophile I doubt it would be noticeable in 98% of viewing. Even though I don't watch that much TV, 240hz was important to me for sports. Although my wife watches a fair amount of television it really wouldn't make a difference to her based on her viewing preferences. I did consider the plasmas, but even with anti glare coating they didn't fare as well as the Toshiba with auto dimming. The room the TV is in is very bright and gets full sun in the afternoon as the windows all face west. I ended up with a Toshiba Regza. In my case it was clearly my best value. Very happy. The picture quality is very close to my Sony XBR960 CRT. Also considered various Samsung models, which were very good but were not a clear step up from the Toshiba, and cost quite a bit more. Sony seemed a step behind in my size range, but ranked a solid third. Best of all ... I was able to support an independently owned store that price matched. It's our last A/V dedicated store in the metro area.

Glad that #12 didn't get hurt! Yes, he did buck like crazy and even came out the front gate. zenyatta's win was particularly impressive as his victory looked easy, like he wasn't even working that hard. I always try to figure out who has a legitimate chance of winning, then go to the paddock to see the horses, then bet. Certainly not fail safe, but I always do better if I see the horses.

Saw the race at the sports bar I had dinner at. What was the deal with #12 who wouldn't load and appears to have been scratched? I've never witnessed anything like that. Congrats on your new found wealth. Always nice to come out ahead after a day at the track.

Went to the Michigan State/Western Michigan game with my youngest daughter and newest son-in-law. MSU 49 WMU 14. Spartan fan but a Bronco alum. Had to root for the Broncos. Partly sunny with temps in the high 50s in November in Michigan. Does't get any better than this! May not be vodka, but a toast to Olga and one saying good bye to October.

That's awful news Pars. Always difficult to lose a member of the family. I am truly sorry to hear that.

I live in the homeland of Amway/Alticor. I've heard the life story of Jay VanAndel and Rich DeVos (founders) ad nauseum. Dr Bronner's story is more entertaining than the "pull myself up by boot straps" and the ethic of hard work that is the Amway story (or at least the semi official byline). Never quite know what I'm going to learn at HC.

We're up about double this year over the past three years..about 150 kids this year, average about 70 the past three. Happy Halloween!
