Ran RCA line from one end of the living room to the other, finally connecting my d/a converter to the home theater amplifier. Discovered I have no hot water. Couldn't get the pilot light to fire up and stay lit. Called my plumber, who stopped by to look at it. Probably a thermocouple. At least there won't be a charge for today's visit. He'll come back tomorrow to repair or replace. Kids over for dinner and grand kids watched The Tale of Despereaux after wearing themselves out playing Wii.

It doesn't seem to be popular here. I have heard just a few d/a converters, so keep that in mind. I like it. Multiple connection options. Supports up to 96/24. Remote is convenient and easy to use. I haven't heard another dac I like better. However, I did like the cd player Absorbine_Sr has, the Resolution Audio Opus 21, better than the Dac3. It has a more organic sound that I really liked in his set up. At $1500 or less the Dac3 is a great value.

Amarra Mini. Tried the demo for quite awhile. Definitely like that it plays 96/24 on the fly. Normally don't like EQ but Amarra's EQ seems to make sense. Like FLAC to ALAC conversion feature. The sound? Need time to make sure.

Good to know Reks. One of those times I don't mind being corrected. I can get rid of the anti virus and stop having it bog things down. I'll have to go back and check the log to see just exactly what it was it says it found.

I didn't run anti virus on my macbook for about 18 months. But since Apple saw fit to advertise that you didnt' need anti virus a few months ago I figure that was a challenge for the scumbags who do that kind of stuff. I ran the anti virus that comes with my cable service a couple of months ago and it did pick up a couple of minor viruses and claims to have blocked an attack.
