I went to the used CD place with deadneddz and got these albums:
Jerry Lee Lewis - The Killer: The Mercury Years
Sam Cooke at the Copa
J.J. Cale - To Tulsa and Back
Patsy Cline - 12 Greatest Hits
John Fogerty - Center Field
Only 3 bucks a pop so not too shabby. Thanks Vincent, I'll try to find one near my house.
The Tempurpedic pillows are highly rated and are supposed to last pretty long, but they're pricey. I got a two pack of NovaForm (Sleep Innovations) memory foam pillows for $30, and those get pretty good ratings as well.
omigawsh so controversial! Maybe he likes the K1000 way more than the GS1000? I'd likely take that first setup over the latter, depending on what the "$200 headamp" is.
:palm::palm:
Love my memory foam pillow/bed. Maybe the best thing I've ever bought (although I've said this to myself a number of times about various other things).
They really picked a great headphone to use with their system in the 202. Technical ability is top notch at the price point and you don't have to worry so much about fit or pad degradation, which can change the sound of the O2 a good amount (and thus change the 'rooms' captured). How many rooms have you captured so far blubliss?
Get them back from Senn, bring it to the upcoming meet on the 21st, and you can test it on my setup all you want. I've got a HE60 to Stax adapter, so you can see how you like them out of better amps than the HEV70, too.
You just need to recable the 950 with a Stax pro bias jack so you can run it out of the KGSS. Shouldn't be too difficult, but worth mentioning if you didn't already know.
I personally don't get all that maxxed stuff. Some people shop that way, but I think it makes more sense to just get a better piece period with that money. A maxxed GES is almost $2200 and a new KGSS is $2300. I'd get the latter without thinking twice.
Ehh what? Isn't the GES over 1k by itself? If you're saying 1k is your budget for the headphones alone, then you can get pretty much any electrostat outside of the HE90/HE60/Omega/Omega2, used. If you want new, then you're pretty much limited to the 950/404/303/202. Elaborate a bit on what sound preferences you have please. The 950 generally gets very good reviews and the 404/303 generally are thought of as being a bit worse than the older Lambda models.
Very cool Vincent! You got a great deal on those. Did you get a price list from Senn for the different parts/repairs available? I can kinda see what you're talking about in that last pic. I took a look at my pair and noticed I had some black curve inside the left driver and two inside the right. I'm guessing this is the o ring too? I'm probably going to wait until after this upcoming LA meet before I send mine in to Senn, so let us know how that goes. Best of luck with everything.
Are you able to bring the speakers forward a bit to give them more room from that wall? It looks like you might have interference from the reflected back wave for the outer parts of the panels.
