Kausal - In Dead Cities

Well I work for an iPhone game developer so there's more iPhone's and Touch's floating around work than you can shake a stick at not to mention a few comps connecting to the network via wifi but this problem is only relatively recent and I have the same problem at home where I didn't use to have a problem either. I'm not sure but it the timing is probably close to updating the firmware to 4.1 then 4.2.
-
I don't have a data plan for my iPhone 3G so I rely on wi-fi at home and work to connect to the internet, problem is, lately my phone will not stay connected so it won't fetch mail on a regular basis like it used to. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

I can't believe people actually complain about the noise floor on the Pico Slim, it's easily the quietest portable I've used, in fact I suspect it's probably one of the quietest amps I've owned regardless of portability.
-
I'm pretty sure the Pico uses the WM8740

Thanks for the info guys, I'll pass it off and see what he says. I had forgot about the K702 having a detachable cable, that's probably why he's considered just going that route, it would certainly make future problems easier to deal with.
-
Not sure where the problem in the cable is, he's tried to track it down but hasn't had much luck. A reasonably cheap, not fancy solution it what he's looking for, otherwise I think he'd just spend the money on a new pair.
-
Yeah, probably the closer to Canada the better but thanks.

I wasn't really sure where to post this, a friend at work has a set of K701's whose cable has apparently crapped out, can anyone offer any advice on who he might contact to see about getting them recabled at a reasonable price?
-
That's grabbed my interest but it also appears Justin is making provisions for low impedance/high sensitivity phones/IEM's. The GS-1 is still my favorite amp that I've owned/heard so the fact that the X2 is based on that same design I also find very intriguing.
-
Sorry, to clarify, out of the portables I've been trying the Pico Slim amp and separate Pico DAC for various reasons came out on top. I then threw the Ultra DAC paired with the Pico Slim amp into the equation more or less because I had the opportunity to borrow it and I was curious how it would stack up against the Pico DAC. I do have the Ultra Micro amp here as well but I haven't really played with it much because it doesn't really interest me and from a quick comparison I much preferred the Pico Slim.

I wrote my last post rather quickly while on my lunch break, it was kind of a thinking out loud post which when I reread it I thought I should try to clarify it a bit better. I think the post gives the impression that I like the Ultra Micro DAC better than the Pico which isn't the case, in my opinion they both offer a different perspective on the music, the Ultra Micro is a bit faster, more forward with more up front detail while the Pico is warmer and richer sounding with more depth. The audiophile in me likes what the Ultra Micro offers but the music lover in me is drawn in by the Pico. While I like the Ultra Micro I'm not sure it's different flavor offers enough to justify buying one for a home setup, my feeling is if I do decide to build a home rig again I'd want something that's clearly a step up on the Pico preferably something that offers the best of both worlds if such a beast is to be found at a reasonable price.

Well I have had the above items in my hands now for a few weeks, for me the clear winner out of those is the Pico Slim and Pico DAC combo. If I get a chance I may write down some impressions of the different pieces and combinations if anyone cares to read them. In addition I threw a bit of wild card into the mix by borrowing a friends Headroom Ultra Micro Stack with the uber Headroom PSU. I think the Ultra DAC pairs really nicely with Pico Slim and offers a rather different perspective than the Pico DAC. Seeing as the Ultra Micro DAC is AC only though it kind of goes against the type of system I've been using the past few years but it and a few other things have got thinking about building a home rig again which bring about a whole set of new questions. How does the Ultra Micro stack up against other similarly priced DAC's (the new Arcam rDAC come to mind) and what would one get and pay to significantly better it? Another thought would be to save my pennies to put towards Justin's new X2 with the USB DAC option, has anyone heard this DAC yet?

I got the wrong impression from your first post describing this Hybrid, if you're able to use a Comply tip of some sort that might be OK but if you have to use the yellow foams like those provided with the demo pairs that might be a real pain. I found the generics really hard to get seated properly on a consistent basis, now that might change with extended use but I had more issues trying to get them on than any other universal I've used.

Interesting, I've been having TMJ related problems as well, although I don't think mine has affected my ear quite as bad as it seems to have yours, nonetheless, I'll be curious to see how it turns out for you.
-
What is it that they're going to try to do for you?
-
Are you the one that has TMJ?

I was curious if he was new, I got mine back a few weeks ago, fit seemed even better but unfortunately I still had a channel imbalance. When I emailed Jerry himself responded and mentioned that he was CC'ing Noy who would be checking them over when they arrived back at the factory. My 13Pro's arrived in Florida today and Noy called me to talk over the problems, it's reassuring to know that they're in experienced hands and the personal level of service is definitely appreciated.

Did HeadRoom discontinue the Desktop Ultra DAC?
elnero replied to Knuckledragger's topic in Home Source Components
I somehow completely missed that, I guess I'm more than a bit slow. Knuckledragger, if you're looking for an Ultra DAC let me know, I might have a line on one that may be for sale in the near future. -

The last I remember reading awhile back he was stepping back from the business side to concentrate more on design or something to that effect, is that what's meant by not directly involved.
