  1. Melos back The Head Direct EF1 on top of a Singlepower Squarewave XL on top of a Sigma 11 on top of a Sigma 11. A Sony 303 PCDP and the Darkvoice 336i. And the Apogee Mini DAC on the left. And the tiny DAC Larry had that I can't remember the name of but will edit this once he lets me know Stock WA6 and Maxed WA6 with Sophia and PDPS The two WA6s and the GES just being so tubey one can't not take a photo One of the last photos of the night - it was just HeadphoneAddict, Blutarsky and myself left and they were doing the review between the Stello, the Apogee and the Magi-DAC And snacks etc prepared by my mom
  2. Welcome I hosted a mini-meet at my place on Saturday, including HeadphoneAddict, Blutarsky, Sherwood, wiatrob and myself. And HeadphoneAddict's son (he has a Stax rig!) The idea of a small meet was to keep things more accomodating to getting some critical listening done - near impossible to do at full meets. And we did just that It's much more affordable, too All in all, it was a good success. A lot was learned, definitely by me and hopefully by all. Thank yous go out to: HeadRoom, without whom we would not have had the D7Ks to review And Drew at Moon-Audio, without whom we would not have had the Senn cables, the Creek, the Shanling nor the iQube (even though we were so caught up in everything else we didn't listen to the amps and hardly the cables - wait for impressions on the much larger meet I'll be attending in Chicago next weekend for impressions on these things) And Alex at APureSound for the V3 Senn cable As well as Fungi for most of the portable cans seen in the portable buffet pic below. And my mother (Aww), for making us a good selection of food and drink And everyone else for actually showing up and going through the efforts of disassembling, packing, unpacking, assembling, disassembling, packing and then assembling their stuff again once they finally got home. What a pain. The Melos was stuck on mute because you can't unmute it without the remote, which was left 70 miles behind. Minus cool points for Melos engineering! This was a pretty unbelievable thing that took a while to sink in for us. All were eager to hear. We'll have to wait until next time I'll shut up and move right into the pics here for you guys - I'll save my comments until after the pics. Sherwood and wiatrob also took some photos so be on the lookout for those when they come (they are surely both much better photographers than I - I just point and click) Photos: wiatrob and I started the day off checking out the issue with the power on my overhyped PS1 SCPH-1001 that I thought I may pull out for everyone to give a go wiatrob's area where we spent time exploring his Soha II build A little buffet of portable choices and a pair of Bose which I insist are not a choice The selection of Senn cables - Blue Dragon, Silver Dragon, APureSound V3, Stock HD650, Stock HD600 Creek OBH-21SE, Shanling PH3000, Stock Woo Audio 6 My Oppo HD981-DV I picked up as cheap entry level transport Headphone buffet D7000s, V3'd Edition 9, V3'd Edition 9 HD600s, Balanced V2'd D2000s and Germania modified AT700s Uh. Grados? This was HeadphoneAddict and Blutarsky's table And the listening begins Stello DAC sitting on top of the Melos Gold The muted Melos Melos insides
  3. I love the rainbow cabling
  4. I know some will show up, but the focus will be on home gear. I have a few amps to really feel out and some senn cables to compare.
  5. Hey guys. I have a mini-meet coming up here that I am hosting at my place on both Nov 1st and Nov 2nd (second day is more an optional ordeal - not sure we'll have enough to make it worth it but I wanted to set aside more time for being objective in reviews and such) I haven't posted about it on Head-Fi because of the obvious, and that I only want so many people in my home. I'd be happy to bring in more HCers It will be in Denver, right off of the i-25 & Yale / i-25 & Hampden exits (sandwiched between the two) If you're interested, just PM me and I'll give you all the details
  6. Sorry Justin, newbs will be newbs :{
  7. I put this up on the other site as that's where the epidemic lives - maybe it'll help a few people. Toss your 2 cents in if you agree? Maybe they'll listen. I know, I'm being pretty optimistic Leaving portable hifi - it's too silly - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio
  8. So intensely cool I'm gonna be at RMA - Tyll, you've gotta let me see this at some point
  9. Done. Thanks for counterbalancing the ignorance I get from HF
  10. I sent an XJ-03 owner a link to the photos and asked him if he could take photos of the insides of his: "I have opened up my XJ-03 before and it look like that. I was shocked too but now I can't take any pics of it as I have sent back for an RMA due to the headphone jack being loose. Rudistor just shipped a pair for me today so when it arrive then i'll be able to take a shot of the inside." Additionally, at least two other people on the XJ-03 thread at HF have had their unit break and have to send it back for repair. The rate of failure in build integrity here on this amp that is so new and not even in a FoTM status at all is way too high. Using all of these factors, one starts to get this cohesive picture of a log of shit being painted in their head
  11. I'm going to PM around on head-fi and see if I can get some people to send shots of the insides of theirs. I feel bad for revealing to them what's inside. Think I have a friend that owns one and would gladly oblige Back when I've got something
  12. Makes RSA circuity design look complex Hf was fine with me putting up pics of the internals for the TTVJ Millett Hybrid Portable - I guess that's because it's actually not a gaping piece of shit like this. Ridiculous that anyone among the staff there actually finds it okay to teach such ignorance and allow people to be so bamboozled for the sake of pleasing someone who isn't even a sponsor (far as I can see). Sadly informative

    Custom IEM's

Indeed! Westone is just an hour or two away from me - I have already looked down their list for my state and it's quite extensive. And now that you mention that - I remember seeing their brochures / pamphlets at my ear nose & throat guy when I had my hearing test done there maybe half a year ago. Going to give him a ring and see how much he wants for doing that - or who in that office has been doing the impressions for Westone

    Custom IEM's

I am in the process of hunting down someone in Denver to do my impressions for livewires right now

    Custom IEM's

I'm currently interested in a pair of livewires for myself. Sensitivity is definitely a worry - but I am likely to be using them with a minibox-e+ where I can use the 75ohm impedance adapter switch as well as the low-gain setting. And having an adapter put into the cable itself is also cake. Still, it's an experimental sound - I need to ask around with a few people to see how they feel about the livewires after some impedance (particularly that measurement) is applied. How they feel about them both in hiss as well as SQ change
  16. Alright
  17. I'm not going to address the hypocrite assertion - I'm just going to point out that even if I were a hypocrite, would that make it okay for you to treat people like shit?
  18. this thread is retarded. everyone has jumped in on the glee of going all out because we aren't censored, but have gone into outright just greeting and treating a person like shit and if all of you can justify that just because you dislike her, together, and really don't have issues with that, your moral depravity is fear-inspiring it's the same kind of shared behavior i've seen here towards a lot of commonly disliked or unrespected audio vendors and stuff from HF really immature team ugly - it reminds me of highschool guys who do shit at other peoples expense and not even really caring about it because it's done in this self & team-amused ritual asshole-behavior mongers
