That does suck. Sorry it happened. -
Hmmm, I'd not ever heard of JamCan before either.

Well, if a built-in CD and DVD wasn't important to me then I'd have an Macbook Air instead of a Macbook Pro. -

I would not want one without a DVD compatible drive inside. I do want one with Blu-Ray that is backwards compatible with DVD. I just think leaving out the optical drive is a bad idea. -
I agree, the HM-602 sounds great but the UI is not very good. My main gripe is that it doesn't seem to play my music in the proper order unless I add track numbers to the front of the file names. If I recall it also doesn't support gapless playback. The tone of the amp reminds me a little of my Pico Slim (and HM-801) but with a little less extension, and it's not aggressive sounding like some amps. I also think the 801 has a little better micro-detail and ambience, and maybe a little better extension than the 602. It sounds best to me with music stored on the internal memory or SD card, while the USB DAC is not as good. The 801 as a coax DAC is about as good as music on the SD card, beating the USB DAC on the 602 or 801. Both units can play 16/48 files from USB or 24/96 files from flash memory, but the 602 down-samples the hi-res files to 24/48 first. The 602 being smaller is much more portable than the 801, and it can run off of a universal cigarette lighter adapter when set for the proper voltage. The 801 needs a special PSU, and is too big for carrying around.

Yeah, in our last house we scratched up the wall removing the wallpaper in the dining room, and ended up covering it venetian plaster and polishing it (burnishing?) It actually turned out very nice. Nice enough that we did the venetian plaster in the new house dining room for a similar look.

Yeah, that's pretty funny.

I thought this door at the rear of a local brewery was pretty cool. All I had to take a photo was an iPhone 4 with 5mp camera. This is resized 800x600. For full size here is the link (if you care). Full size door photo -

Nice, but that's a crazy wait. I think it took 5-6 months for my Milt Sparks Versa Max II for my Glock 23, but I got my MS Watch Six Talon for G23 in only a week.

This. And Crimson Trace laser for my PM9. I'm getting too damn old to see the rear sites, and I already have CT laser-grips on my S&W 637 snubby. It still fits in my Nemesis and Uncle Mikes pocket holsters, but now I can't use my Alessi inside the waistband holster. Although it might still fit in my Thunderwear holster, so go ahead and make of that one while you can.

I want to remind everyone who might ever be interested in jailbreaking their iPhone/Touch/iPad someday that they should be regularly running the Firmware Umbrella (aka TinyUmbrella) to store your device's SHSH blobs for each version of iOS that comes out. Even if you don't ever plan to jailbreak, having the SHSH blobs saved increases the value of the device if you want to sell it later. If you have the SHSH saved for older versions of the iOS on your device, then you can install older "jailbreakable" versions of iOS that Apple has stopped signing. The problem is that if you've never saved the SHSH before, then you can only fetch the blobs for the current version of iOS that is Apple is signing, and for future versions. So right now you will only be able to save SHSH blobs for 4.2.1 which doesn't have an untethered jailbreak or unlock yet. But someday 4.2.1 will have a jailbreak/unlock, and you'll want to have your SHSH saved for when that day comes, or in case you need to re-install 4.2.1 after 4.3 comes out and Apple stops signing 4.2.1, and so on. iOS 4.1 is the latest version that can take a non-tethered jailbreak and can be unlocked for other networks. On the iPhone 4, you can only be unlocked from ATT with iOS 4.1 if you upgraded from something lower than 4.1 and were able to preserve the baseband at 1.59. TinyUmbrella's TSS server will let you option-restore to iOS 4.1 without upgrading the baseband from 1.59, but only if you saved the SHSH for your device with iOS 4.1. Even though iOS 4.2.1 came out weeks ago, this weekend I was able to upgrade my jailbroken iPhone 4 from iOS 4.0.1 to iOS 4.1, even though Apple stopped signing iOS 4.1 installs weeks ago. Without saving my old 4.1 SHSH I would have either been stuck at 4.01 or I would have had to jump to 4.2.1 which doesn't have an untethered jailbreak or unlock. Right now if you upgrade to 4.2.1 the baseband is updated and can't be unlocked yet, and you can't install 4.2.1 with the old baseband due to changes Apple made. Once the baseband is updated you can never go back, and then you have to wait until they come up with a new unlock for the new baseband. Anyway, just look into this so that you are covered in the event that you need to revert your device back to an older version of iOS, or even if you need re-install the same version again after Apple has released a newer version. Personally, I would not need to jailbreak if Apple would allow apps like SBSettings or Snappy, and unrestricted 3G for facetime, or a Wifi hotspot without giving up my unlimited data plan (4.3 should have Wifi hotspot). I'd really like to have 4.2.1 for the Airplay videos and Airprint, but I'm gonna wait until I can do an un-tethered jailbreak. We might go overseas and I'd also like to be able to pop in a foreign SIM card with my unlocked iPhone. If you need jailbreak advice I'll try to help.

Yeah, WTF is wrong with not wanting to type out iPhone/Touch/iPad? Clicking on a standard link to the video will open the YouTube app on the iPhone/Touch/iPad, but clicking on where the embedded video should be wont work. To play one of those videos on an iPhone/Touch/iPad one has to quote the post to see the link, copy the link out of the quoted text, and paste the link into Safari address bar to open it. I usually end up just waiting until I get home and can view it on my computer because it's such a PITA. (Fitz, do I have to spell out PITA too, because that would be a real pain in the ass?)

Embedded videos are still a problem for iDevices. It's nice if you can include a link along with the embedded video.

I have a pair of mk1 pads on my Smegma Pro, and a sealed spare set I could try on my SR-5 gold edition, but I'm not convinced I want any change in sound by using them. I was saving them for when I wear out the pads on my O2 mk1, but it seems that you recommend the mk2 pads when that happens.

I'm still amazed by my SR-5 gold edition and SR-Lambda, although not nearly as old as the SR-1 I liked them more than my previous Grado RS-1. I haven't heard any Stax older than the SR-3 which I once bought from you (1968?), but I wasn't as impressed with them as I am with my SR-5 gold and SR-Lambda. But it's humbling to think how good Stax phones were back when I was a teenager in the 70's and still listening to Koss Pro4AA headphones. If I had had my SR-Lambda back then it would have been a revelation.

If you ignore her on valentines day she'll dump you. You could do dinner and a movie, and she might forgive you for not going for a box of chocolate and jewelry. Jewelry will definitely ramp up expectations, but consumables or perishables is usually non-committal.

I had a 250 watt Heathkit power amp that seemed to do well enough with the Quads. I used an Onkyo integrated amp as my preamp to the Heathkit, and to drive the MK subwoofer. When I got the Polk speakers I swapped amps and used the 80 watt Onkyo for the Polk and the 250 watt Heathkit for the sub. If my wife would allow electronics in the living room I'd consider something similar again, that I can set out from the walls just to see how I'd like a dipole again. My theater room is too small for that, and is cramped with just a 60" Panasonic RPTV and 6 home theater recliners.
