  1. Hmm, I posted above and my attachment was not there, tried to edit and lost everything, now I can't edit the post to fix it. Anyway, it doesn't belong in this thread so removed it. I hope your MBA stays in working condition for years to come, so Apple doesn't try to deny warranty on it later.
  2. What's worse, I read that there was a helicopter taking videos of the shootings, while the police had no quick access to a helicopter to help them to a speedier rescue on the island.
  3. That looks like Toby from The Office.
  4. Glad you didn't get hurt too badly.
  5. Well, I'm taking a wait and see stance for now. Maybe I'll clone my Macbook Pro and update the clone to Lion and try it out for a while and see what breaks or gets better.
  6. I won a free copy of Vista business from Microsoft when it was introduced, and I still haven't opened and installed Vista...

    RIP Amy

[Edit - wrote the same thing as jvlgato without ever seeing his response]
  8. Yeah, Fitz is the last person an AKG fan looking for help wants to alienate.
  9. Anyone who would do such a thing was really never a Christian in the first place, even if he called himself one. Again, it's very sad and I wish that everyone can find peach after this travesty. I can't imaging what could lead someone to kill innocent people like this, ripping apart families and friends. It made me think about my 17 yr old daughter who is working at a Christian camp in the mountains for 5 weeks this summer, and they are completely defenseless to a crime like this; and I started to get an idea of what the parents of these kids might feel just by imagining the worst for my own child.
  10. They say, "there is no Stax Mafia", but if there was then The Stig would be sleeping with the fishes...
  11. I have the Yoobao case as well, and it came with a screen protector film that I am using right now. I think maybe they threw in the protector free because shipment was delayed for a re-design from V1 (still smudges with fingerprints). The case does a decent job protecting the iPad2 like the Apple case did for iPad 1, but I still have a couple of very minor dings in the corners from dropping it while juggling iPad2 with my cane and other items (when my hands are full why can't I drop the other stuff and not the iPad2). It's $44 from here Yoobao case I have the V2 which fixed the sleep issue when folding the cover under the back, but the V3 has a magnet that also holds the case closed. I'd also consider the G-Form Portfolio if you don't need something thin and small, but it's not cheap.
  12. I don't like all the negative reviews in the app store that I'm reading of Lion right now. I'm very happy with Snow Leopard as it is. I upgraded parallels to 6.0 in anticipation, but I have to make sure everything else that I use is okay, since some apps need Rosetta and I'm not sure which apps those are (except older AppleWorks, MS Works, Quicken, older Photoshop and office 2005 and older which I don't use). I know that AirDisplay which uses my iPad as a second monitor will quit working in Lion with my model of MBP, at least until apple patches the 3rd party video driver issue with some older Macs. I have an original unibody 15" I bought in Jan 2009, and the June 2009 MBP are fine. I really like the way Expose and Space works now, and the Mission Control sounds like a pain to get used to. I'd prefer that the scroll bars and scrolling/swiping gestures didn't change. Apparently if you use two monitors and set an app for full screen then the second monitor does nothing. I hated how iTunes went all grey, and now iOS is going all grey too. How long before App icons go grey too? I don't like big changes in something I've been using for years. Heck, I still want all the MobileMe features to remain in iCloud and keep things like syncing of keychains and preferences which we will lose with iCloud. I like the way iDisk and MobileMe gallery work too. iCloud beta on Snow Leopard is good enough, with being able to re-download apps, music and books. So, I think that Lion is Apple's Vista, and just like I had stayed with Win XP I'm staying with Snow Leopard for as long as I can.
  13. That really sucks.
  14. I love the new MBA's. I might prefer the 13" more due to the higher res screen, more battery life and SD slot. I could see it being a desktop replacement like my 15" MBP, just by adding a USB hub with a DAC, Superdrive, and portable HD for my iTunes library. However I decided a few days ago to go for Marc's KGSS instead, since my Macbook Pro + iPad 2 are working so well for me right now. Once my son's 2006 MBP dies and I have to hand down my unibody MBP to him for school, I'll give it more consideration.
  15. Maybe NwAvGuy should go for a record of how many forums he can get banned from. (can't seem to spell his name right)
  16. I haven't been to the big HF Audeze thread since 7/9 I think, and I now have over 1000 new posts to read. Geez!
  17. My deepest sympathies Al.
  18. Damn, just today I threw out a jar of pickle juice, thinking I did a good deed.
  19. Good luck Gary. I do plan to own a pair of TP myself someday. I'm already proud to own a pair of Smegma Pro and Smegma SFI pucks.
  20. Have you compared the r.2 side by side with the r.1, or was this from memory of the r.1 ?
  21. I'm afraid the Japanese will have to abandon ship and shrink wrap their island in lead to protect the rest of the world.
  22. What kind did you get? My new 500Gb Momentus XT hybrid drive is significantly faster than the old 5400 rpm drive if I'm loading something that is already on the SSD portion - things like mail, contacts, calendar, safari, and iPhoto load almost instantly now, which makes me very happy. I'm sure I'll get used to the extra speed and want more, eventually. Maybe when those 480-512 Gb SSD come down closer to $500 I'll get one. I thought about getting a big SSD now, except that I could almost buy a new MBA for just a little more money. I got my 15" MBP 2.5 years ago (1st unibody model), but to counter the age it can take 8Gb RAM and an SSD and still perform at a much higher level if I want. Apple replaced the battery recently under Applecare, and I only have 7 charge cycles on the new one, so I think I can squeeze out a few more years if I have to.
