  1. I have to disagree about the HF-2 - I have a pair and they're a fun phone, but they are colored and the HD600 are a good deal better to me. If I had to pick between the HD600 and HF-2 I'd pick the HD600 every time. But I'd pick the HE-500 over the HD600, due to the improved speed, detail and transparency.
  2. We're probably gonna offer our old AT&T iPad1 to our 18 year old daughter, but suspect that she'll decline it if she thinks it will help her get a newer 13" Macbook Pro for college. We'll see...
  3. The main benefit from buying from Apple is if you are going to buy the Apple Care coverage at the same time - then Apple will automatically register the Applecare to the device, along with all the accessories that you bought at the same time as the Mac and Apple Care.
  4. So, how much was the total damage for the phones and new parts?
  5. I think the new iPad features are great, but why not call it iPad HD or iPad 3?
  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. Is this the dock that Drew (Moon Audio) was recommending at RMAF, or was that the Denon dock? I need another digital dock for my main rig, since I don't think my DLO Homedock HD is an upgrade over line-out. I was looking at the Cambridge on Amazon the other day, and will take this into consideration. I've been happy with the Nuforce iDo iPod digital dock in my bedroom rig, with the coax S/PDIF > nice DAC sounding best. But the RCA output is not far behind, although the headphone out is more on the level of the $130 uDAC-2 headphone out (bass response could be tighter; and extension, micro-detail, and ambience are not as good via headphone out). I've been using iDo daily in my bedroom rig to feed my DACmini lossless music from a 16Gb Nano. I thought I'd just buy another, but I like to try new stuff too. The best part of the iDo is you can connect the iPad or iPod via normal sync cable and easily hold it to watch a movie or control the music. But you can also use the Apple remote to skip songs or adjust the volume if you are sitting across the room from the docked iDevice. I also like that it's powerful enough to charge the iPad. What I dislike is that iDo doesn't offer a video output, while both my DLO Homedock HD and older Homedock Deluxe have video output. And my Homedock HD has a USB port to connect to a PC to sync, while iDo doesn't have that.
  8. I should read the whole thread before posting, sorry...
  9. I don't see much of a point in trying to show how bad it is when you could improve upon the design and show how good it could be instead (like the ESX).
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. You have some nice rigs there.
  12. "The Law Offices of Do We Cheatem & Howe" might be "Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewey,_Cheatem_%26_Howe
  13. I suppose I would like to hear them in a proper room with the right gear, but I still wouldn't spend that much money on them ($25K). Assuming the speakers are actually quite good, then the room/gear setup at RMAF was not a good match at all (not to my ears, Barleyguy, or my son). I'm not sure I would want a speaker to be "that" picky about the room though. I heard some $8K medium-tower speakers at RMAF that were outstanding sounding at any price (I'd have to look up the name latter, but they were built in Memphis and had that in their name).
  14. I listened to those at RMAF and was disappointed with them, thinking that the Harbeth at a fraction of the cost were clearly better. I thought the Magico had a very V shaped frequency response and the highs were a bit harsh sounding.

  18. That was cool, thanks!

  20. Definitely get the SR-009 - I don't regret the purchase at all (PWD > KGSS > SR-009 for the MFW). Even with an eXStatA or HEV70 they sound pretty good, but they are out of this world with better quality gear. Did you have a chance to compare to an SR-007 at the same meet?
  21. Sounds like a happy ending, for now. Hopefully nobody is gunning for you (no pun intended).
  22. I wonder if that's a similar issue to the one where I can't use my SRD-7 Mk2 with a T-amp (common ground?), but the SRD-7 Pro works fine. Anyway, hope you get the amping all worked out. Glad I could turn you onto the O2 Mk1 after hearing mine at RMAF, but sorry the guy sold you a worn out pair without full disclosure.
  23. I'm pretty sure my DLO Homedock HD works with my iPhone 4S, at least as an audio dock only, because I was using it today for the line out (not hooked to a TV but using an amp). It does give the warning, "not designed for this device", but it worked. It also worked today as an audio dock with my iPad2. I haven't tried it with iPhone 4S using an HDMI TV yet, but video worked with a previous iPhone. NOTE - If not hooked to a TV to use it's on screen interface via remote, you have to hit the the top left button of the remote to let you control the iPhone on the actual phone screen.
  24. Happy Birthday!
