  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. Oooh, jumped on that too.
  3. I did earlier, thanks.
  4. It's okay, but not out of this world. I'm sticking with their beef jerky.
  5. BREAKING NEWS: Peyton Manning picks Broncos (local paper) http://www.gazette.com/articles/manning-135434-broncos-source.html
  6. Sonofabitch my new iPad won't charge on my old iMac. With my Nuforce iDo digital dock it won't show it's charging unless I plug it in while it's asleep and then wake it up after that. My Macbook Pro with powered USB hub won't charge it like with my iPad 2. The Macbook Pro does charge it directly from the built-in USB, making me have to unplug the USB DAC that feeds my powered speakers. However, while I'm using it plugged into the iDo or Macbook Pro it stays at 59% charge, instead of climbing a percentage or two over a few minutes (it doesn't drain, but it doesn't fill up either). I assumed the bigger battery would increase charge time about 50%, but not make it harder to charge. Silly me.
  7. Try rebooting while holding down the shift key, to disable all the extras that load at the start (kinda like safe-mode). Another thing to try is re-setting the PRAM by booting while holding the cmd-opt-p-r keys till you hear the mac chime again and the screen goes black again. If that doesn't help, boot from a start up/install DVD by holding down the "c" key when you boot, and then try running a disk repair and fix permissions with disk utility. (or boot while holding option, and choose the boot up disk from the list) PS: if you are running OS 10.7.3 you may have an emergency restore partition installed that you can boot from, but I've never done that. If you have it can boot from it, you can run disk utility from that.
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. I always thought the HD650 needed a very strong and high-end amp to perform well, but the SR-Lambda can sound beautiful with a cheap T-amp and SRD-7.
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. Thanks everyone!
  12. According to one source, Santa is 1,741 years old...
  13. So, I had some nice seafood enchiladas, drinks, and my first real dessert since October (cheesecake). I said no gifts but got some anyway - one size smaller cargo pants and "life is good" shirts; a voucher for 5 hugs, 15 min massage, and one "I told you so"; an Outback Steakhouse and Starbucks gift card, some sushi plates that my son painted and baked in a kiln for me (those are white paint flecks in the photo not bubbles). All in all a nice birthday! Oh, and got an iPad 3 that arrives tomorrow! Raked it in for sure.
  14. I wonder what that says about all us straight guys that find her attractive.
  15. Happy Ides of March, we're twins!
  16. Thanks guys! I was feeling kinda depressed for turning 50 years old, but then I had to think how lucky am am to still be here to enjoy my family and everything. No big plans, just going out for mexican food and margaritas tonight, and watch a movie at home. C'ya later!
  17. Thanks for that, free music no matter how nerve-racking is nice.
  18. I look forward to that. But basically it has you set up an ad-hoc network between iPhone and computer, and you run a web-app on the iPhone and a normal app on the computer, which allows the computer to access the web through the phone. It's nice that they let you save the web-app to your iPhone springboard, so you have a shortcut to the app without having to visit tether.com every time you use it. I have no idea whether it can hide the tethering data from ATT so that you don't get caught, nor do I know if it can use the iPad 3G connection for tethering, which MyWi and PDAnet do with jailbroken devices. Until I know more about this and hear from others about the service, I'm keeping my VZW MiFi2200 hotspot.
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. Your basically paying them a subscription fee, but only $30/yr instead of an extra $20/mo to AT&T to tether. Plus, people with an unlimited plan can tether without giving it up. Many places charge a subscription fee to use their service, although many of those offer a free service and charge for upgrades (I.e. Dropbox, Onlive, WSJ)
  21. I like the HF-2, but they're not a reference phone, they're a fun-colored phone.
  22. Tethering can be done now without jail breaking or switching to a tethered plan, using html5 app and ad-hoc connection to your computer. $30/yr http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_uri=/watch?v=8GkbAiRMf40&feature=player_embedded&feature=player_embedded&v=8GkbAiRMf40&gl=US
  23. I'm using Printopia on my iMac to act as an airprint server, since my older wifi HP printers aren't AirPrint compatible. From any iPhone or iPad we can print to the printer, or print to a file on the iMac. But, it requires leading the computer turned on and connected to the shared printer. That's not a problem for us because we leave the iMac on all the time for iTunes home sharing, TwonkyServer, and StreamToMe.
  24. What slick about the Apple way is that you can have them install a 256GB SSD and 1TB hard drive in a speacial RAID, where OSX and apps are on the SSD but data is stored on the HD, but it acts like one drive.
