Happy belated bday!
-
Cool, mine arrived a week or two ago, but forgot to mention it.
-
That's great, thanks! I only had 7 of those albums in my library, and bought 10 more. I like a wide variety of music, as you can see. There's 3-4 more I'm still considering (Bush, Smashing Pumpkins, The XX).

Happy Birthday!

Sorry for your loss, and be safe on the trip.

I know what you mean, times are tough but I couldn't sell our old stuff to mom. Last Xmas we gave my wife's mom a 3G iPad 32GB (1st gen refurb fresh from Apple), and we pay the $25/mo data plan for her as well. It wouldn't feel right selling it to her. My mom didn't get an iPad, but she got a nook and a plane ticket to visit this week for my daughter's graduation. My mom just sent me a $100 check to help pay for the ticket and I sent it back "voided" for mother's day. We could always use the money, but I can't take it from her.

Congrats! Curious, how many words a day does it come out to?

Hey Head-Case, what's your bandwidth like?

Thanks for the help, but it wasn't in any of the 6 nearby deals at the bottom when I first checked, and still not there. If I change cities the deals change, but the voucher isn't one of them.
-
Thanks, I missed seeing that album. Couldn't find the voucher, but I got a $10 Amazon gift card for $5 from local.amazon.com and then used that toward the CD instead.

If you had to downgrade your entire rig to $500 ...

Only if I can use EQ. Screw it, I'm sticking with the PSB Imagine Mini and $700 over budget... -

Well, I have those crappy Sony speakers on the Marantz 2240. Does that count? -
Happy Birthday!

He's not done downgrading - he's gotta cut another $100 off his rig to hit the goal. I'd recommend a Behringer UCA202 in place of the Pico DAC. NwAvGuy loves those. -
Don't know if you are joking here or not, but in my case I tend to find the HD800 are still a little on the bright side when using it in balanced mode with SR-71b (stock cable converted to balanced by n-maher).

My AudioCats modded SR-001 Mk2 runs off a 6 x 14500 cell Li-ion rechargeable external pack, since the battery compartment is full of upgraded caps now (upgraded opamps too). Sounds pretty much like an SR-003/SRM-1 Mk2 Pro combo, and runs 8-10 hours on a charge. I seem to recall it was easy to mod the SR-001 to use two 14500 in parallel, which worked better than two AA in series.

Good job! I was over 260 lbs in october and I'm below 215 now. My goal is 200, but it's going slower now. It's not easy if you have the wrong metabolism.

Yup, I've often said the HD-25 II are like a closed MS-1. They are efficient and and isolate well, and are fairly portable to boot, but they can be a little harsh at times. We got ours from buy.com for $99 a while back, and I wouldn't pay over $150 for a set. I gave mine to my son, after I got tired of them. I'm using the Shure SRH-840 for isolation instead, but they're not very portable, although a bit better sounding. I don't have a lot of portable phones that isolate from the outside, but my ESW-10 JPN sound fantastic and don't leak to the outside world. The ATH ANC-7 do noise canceling very well, and sound good as long as the battery is strong, and they're very portable, but non-droning outside noises get in pretty easily. I heard the DT-1350 at RMAF breifly, and if you get the positioning right they're NOT bad at all (edit - autocorrect made it look like I said the opposite), but for the sound I didn't want to spend that much money. The V-moda M80 are a better bang for the buck (also sampled at RMAF briefly). As for better sound quality, a better IEM might give you a better bang for the buck. An X10, Monster Turbine Pro Gold/Copper, Triple.fi 10 pro, UM3X, Westone 4 (or most other top notch BA IEM) will isolate well and give you pretty good sound. The Fisher Audio DBA-02 sound like the Westone 2, and both might be a consideration, while the Sleek SA-6 sounded kinda dull to me, and more like a Westone 1.

I would try both DAC with the BHSE before deciding what to do. Will Neko upgrade the D100 to the Mk2 for an affordable price? I have the Stello DA100 signature in my bedroom rig and think it's a very nice DAC, but it's a little less detailed and spacious than my PS Audio PWD. It's a little more laid back sounding than my old Apogee mini-DAC, but overall just as enjoyable for my needs. And it pairs very well with my KGSS and SR-009. I would in never say that the DA100 isn't good enough to enjoy with a high-end stat rig, but you won't extract everything from the recording that's there. (Blutarsky needed a DAC that acted as a pre-amp, so he traded for my Apogee and worked out a good deal with me for the DA100 Sig and his AV123 speakers.)

The Luxman P-1u sounds a lot like my EC ZDT, so I imagine you must be very happy with it.

I'm listening right now to my LCD-2 rev 1 with my Stello DA100 > EF5 amp, and it's not sucking. However, I think I would like the slightly more open highs of the rev 2 more. Every time I listen to the LCD-2 and think that they remind me of the O2 Mk1, I then switch to my SR-007 I start to realize all over again that the LCD-2 don't have the detail, finesse and transparency of the Stax.

USA Today has an article about an old couple that drove 1,600 miles from Houston to North Virginia on ONE TANK of gas in their diesel VW, squeaking out 80+mpg and pissing off a few drivers for going below the speed limit.

Crap that sucks. I was kinda put off that the cop didn't move very fast to see if the guy needed CPR or something. [media=]http://youtu.be/Nq5fUG2FILk
