Bummer "not available".

Glad things are looking up. And you apparently didn't get infected either.

I didnt know that it could be deducted. I guess in a sense it's earned wages even if not collected. There are 15 employees that lost their homes in the fires, and those without any vacation time available can take an unpaid leave without repercussions. But it's not a policy to give them extra PTO for their suffering. I suppose they could have pulled a "nudge nudge wink wink just call in sick instead" policy, but that didn't happen either. The employees also seem to have high enough standards to not lie about being sick either. The whole community is pulling together to suport each other, and over 1 million pounds of food has been donated in just a week. We gave to Red Cross and to some local church relief funds, as well as food donations, but didnt feel it was enough. We also offered our house as a place for employees to stay if they needed somewhere to crash. As a community, the general public opinion is that the peeps who looted 24 homes that were evacuated should be strung up and shot. There's a lot of outrage over that.

Ordered a Retina Macbook Pro and returned the hi-res 15" antiglare model since I couldn't read the screen. I like this option better than new reading glasses. We also donated 40 hours of my wife's "paid time off" to give to her co-workers who were rendered homeless by the Colorado Springs fires and need "vacation" time to get their affairs in order. I wasn't going to post this, but I thought others would like to know that something like this can be done if they are in a position to help others in need. I really didn't know this was possible until my wife brought it up to me today. I don't know if this is only a policy at her job, but had never heard of it before.

Watch out for a pasturella infection - you might need antibiotics too, like dicloxacillin or something.

Trying to decide if I'm gonna swap my new 15" hi-res antiglare MBP for the non hi-res model because the smaller pixel density isn't good for my 50 year old eyes. I don't like having to zoom in on everything that is too small. Making a new time machine backup just in case I pack this up today, but I have until Wednesday to do this. If they had 16GB RAM retina MBP in stock I might spring for the extra cost. I can't order and wait 4 weeks because we dropped off our old Macbook's for consignment sales at a local shop. Well, maybe I could make a clone to boot from my son's Mac and use that for a few weeks.

I actually just finished watching 3 hours of recorded news programs from today, and Obama did a nice job here in Colorado Springs. He didn't need cue cards, things he said made sense, and he asked everyone their name when he talked with them.

Stax "sb" energizers. can they reach greatness?

Umm, I would definitely read it again before posting something like what you just wrote. That isn't going to win over these guys here. -

Yeah, we said don't worry about it. We were going to keep it in the savings account for her next year at school.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure she's never tried doing that. The only skill we trained her for was being a cowgirl. Kinda silly now that we think about it. She's a good writer though, so if you need any term papers written she's the one to call.

Well I won't blame the difference on the HP-1000 having a SAA Equinox cable and the K1000 having a stock cable. I did have to try multiple amps to get the K1000 to pick up some sparkle, which the SAC KH1000 amp did nicely.

Consoled my daughter who was laid off her summer job as a wrangler at the stables in Garden of the Gods due to the fires. Half the employees were let go, and as the newest employee she'll be the last to come back when the park opens again for trail rides. She's going to lose about $3000 in wages, not including tips, and may not be able to find another job this good before she leaves for college at the end of summer break. I advanced her the money for her new Macbook Pro, but she didnt earn enough to pay for it before the layoffs. It's worse for the others who cant pay their rent. These fires in Colorado are killing the economy pretty quickly. To make things worse, Obama is visiting today. :-p

Stax "sb" energizers. can they reach greatness?

Audiocats on the other forum modified it for me, and also added pro-bias to it on one of the jacks (plugged the center pin to convert to 5-pin). He also did a great job modifying my SR-001 Mk2 with better opamps and caps. He did it for the cost of parts as a favor. -
Weird, my K1000 had less impact and less highs than my HP-1000 did. If I could have my pick of either one again, I'd take the HP-1000.

I don't think a standard SRD-7 would be any better than the SRD-7 SB. The transformer with the Fisher amp would have good dynamics but less detail than a dedicated stat amp. I also found something like my previous SRM-1 Mk2 Pro to have a bigger more holographic soundstage. So, a vintage Stax amp like SRM-1 Mk2 Pro or SRM-T1 would sound better on a budget, but they're all getting so old that you'd want to do a refurb on them (old caps and such). That's why I said just use what you have and enjoy it - I didn't know you would be able to build an amp. If you really wanted an upgrade without going vintage, and the budget was higher than an "SRD-7 level" budget you could consider a Woo GES or build a KGSS. The GES offered an excellent pairing with my SR-Lambda. But my SRD-7 SB out of my Eddie Current ZDT sounded closer than you'd expect to the GES, with less detail and narrower soundstage but otherwise excellent sound from the SR-Lambda. Right now I don't have a working normal bias amp, so I use my SR-Lambda with an SRD-7 SB that was modified to have the input go directly into the transformers via banana jacks, and bypass the old stock input cable and other crap. This sounds a little more detailed and transparent than my stock SRD-7 Mk2 SB (one pro and one normal jack). -

Just set up that rig and enjoy it - it should sound very good. Don't put too much thought into it and just do it. A dedicated Stat amp would yield better detail but you'll be surprised at how good the SR-Lambda sound out of an SRD-7 SB and a good amp. The SR-Lambda are quite good, and compare well vs a few $300-600 modern day headphones (HD600 and RS-1 for example). -

20 years ago my wife and I lived in the stricken area, and new photos now show that our first house together has burned to the ground. We lived in the little cul de sac at the bottom third of this photo - see the little red box I drew around it. We loved that little 2 bedroom house, but moved away when I started my solo medical practice in Canon City CO. When we moved back 12 years ago it was with 3 kids, and we found a larger home in the foothills of NORAD instead. But we always thought about buying a home like the 1st one after the kids are all moved out and we are both retired. It was a beautiful neighborhood. I have this strange urge to reach out to whomever currently owns the house and give something to them to help them out in their time of need, because it's so close to my heart. -

Just heard about this website donating all profits to benefit the wildfire victims. The local news interviewed them a little while ago. http://www.wildfiretees.com/ -

Looks like Mordor and smells like camping fires, but it's hard to enjoy this when it's so thick and it's people's homes burning. Several of my wife's coworkers are evacuated and fear for their homes. The city has set up a website for people to enter their name, address and phone number to get a call back about the status of their house. To facilitate this they are providing free internet at the shelters so people can get online. My daughter is worried about her co-workers at the stables, as they earn minimum wage + tips and have apartments to pay for, but they're only getting 2-4 hours of work a day. They go in for a couple of hours in the AM and PM to feed and clean up after the horses that are evacuated to a local equestrian center. With Garden of the Gods closed that aren't taking tourists on trail rides each day and getting tips. With 120 horses they still need all 10 wranglers (daughter included) to care for them. It's cooled off a little today, but we still have fires burning all over and the embers are traveling up to half a mile to spread little spot fires elsewhere. Cool ash is traveling even farther, landing like 10-15 miles away. The C-130's with 3,000 gallons of retardant were grounded about 3PM due to high winds, but the helicopters are still flying at 8PM to douse the spot fires with 800 gallon buckets. Not sure if the smaller 2,000 gallon planes are flying or not. And yeah, the ghetto is not at risk at this time, although some people would like to see Fountain at Chelton burn down.
