  1. Is he the better looking one, the smarter looking one, or both?
  2. So, apparently this was a big crash disaster like a new iPhone pre-order or something. People that actually paid couldn't watch, not just those who tried to order and couldn't. https://twitter.com/i/#!/search/%23Rumble2012
  3. Had to watch this instead
  4. Kinda pissed that it just started and I can't watch it because they've crashed.
  5. I'm stuck trying to purchase, page doesn't move...
  6. I agree that BootCamp is better running Windows than Parallels 7, but Quicken isn't very demanding and I prefer to have Max OS available without shutting down Windows. I still wish I could trade my unopened package of Vista Business for Windows 7. At the moment I'm still using Win XP on my Mac just to run Quicken, because I'm just too cheap to invest in Win 7 and I read so many complaints about Vista when it came out.
  7. Great job - Keep it up! I've been holding steady at 213-214 lbs since March, after dropping from 265 between October and February. I'm back to where I was 10 years ago, but about 15 lbs more than I was 15 years ago. I'm glad I saved most of my "skinny" clothes that my wife kept pushing me to throw out, but if I lose another 15 lbs I'll have to go shopping again.
  8. Well, I'm in Colorado Springs and testing using a server in Denver.
  9. SoundSource still works on my retina with ML, albeit with a bug where my airport express shows up there listed 5 times (version 2.5).
  10. I thought this was pretty good, but they get a B+ rating?
  11. Well, maybe with airfoil. But Audio Hijack Pro isn't built in - I use it to let me intercept and record streaming audio or any system audio for that mater. And it's nice for trying out different plugin's to alter the audio (Canz3D, Isone Pro, Apple AudioMatrix, EQ, etc). When I bought Fission it was the only way to create ring tones, but now we have a free way by converting the clip to AAC, dragging it out of iTunes to the desktop, deleting it from iTunes, renaming it to tone.m4r instead of tone.m4v, and dragging it back into iTunes.
  12. Heh heh, have 5 left, won't have to order more till Friday...
  13. Congrats and happy Birthday!
  14. Happy birthday!
  15. So, I was able to get my Nuforce iDo digital iPod dock to work with my iPhone 5 today, simply by plugging the new UsB cable into it. Hurrah for digital docks that have a USB port on them instead of a 30-pin connector.
  16. I do not like Apple maps one bit. There is extremely poor contrast between the background and the roads and the lettering, and text is just too small, thin and light to read street names when it's on my dashboard. And normal landmarks aren't labeled anymore. It also takes longer to load maps, and so you get to see the "Holo-deck Grid" way too often when scrolling around the map. And you can't zoom into the satellite images as deeply as with Google (not a deal breaker like the other issues). With Google maps at least the text would enlarge and get thicker when you zoomed in just right, and Google maps is a lot easier to read from the driver seat. When I needed turn by turn directions I just pulled out Navigon instead, but in general I preferred the bird's eye view of Google with the highlighted route better. I WANT GOOGLE BACK
  17. Wow, wonder how I missed that over there. Sniper1 missed my post about the D1, and then I pulled the same stunt with your post.
  18. Heh, not yet. So here's a funny story. I've spent the past 15 hours fixing iTunes Match and recovering hundreds of lost playlists. This after my daughter at college accidentally turned on Match and didn't like having 1500 new playlists added to her Mac, so she proceeded to delete said playlists. When I sync'd my iPad and iPhone this morning most of my music was removed, since I organize my music and sync based on playlists that were gone. I mostly use Match so that we can play all our music on our Apple TV's without needing to leave a computer turned on with iTunes loaded. ATVs really should be able to read music off an NAS without having to jailbreak the thing, especially since iTunes for the Mac can play the music residing on the NAS. If not for that I would have never turned Match on. My iTunes Library and databases reside on a 3TB external drive that was last backed up on 8/31/12, but somehow I'd had the foresight to save a copy of the iTunes database on 9/10/12 when I did an intermediate manual backup of new media to the NAS. But every time I restored the backup then iTunes match would delete the playlists immediately upon launching iTunes. I'm not proud that it took me 2 hours to realize I could prevent the deletion if I unplugged my ethernet and killed the internet. Once I restored the database successfully, and created 40-50 or so new playlists that were still gone, iTunes would error out when updating iTunes match. It took another 8 hours to figure out that there were 8 corrupted music files in my library that were crashing the match, although they weren't a problem before. It turns out the copies on iCloud were bad too, and had to be deleted. So, I don't want to F'up the iPad with an update to iOS 6 right now, until I know my iTunes library is stable and working well for a few days. Also, because I love Google Maps and use it a lot, and I find that Navigon is more difficult to get a good look at my entire route from overhead when I want. Heck, I may even wait until Google Maps is released as a download. It depends on how much I like Apple maps on the iPhone 5 that arrived at 10:30AM and hasn't come out of the box yet...
  19. Oooh, Time Machine in Mountain Lion can do two new tricks! One, it can now do encrypted backups to a network drive, where before network backups to NAS were not encrypted. Two, it can now alternate between doing a backup to your network drive and to your ext USB drive. So both backups will be up-to-date if you leave the USB plugged in, but then you can take the encrypted USB backup off-site when you go away. When you bring the USB drive back and plug it in it does another backup right away without having to manually go into the software switch drives.
  20. happy birthday!
  21. Bluto's got frequent flyer miles to cover half the plane fare, but he's not 100% sure that he is off that weekend yet. Although he moved to DC earlier this year he comes back to Colorado 3-4x a year for his work, and this would be an extra trip that he may not be able to combine with work. The Marriott gives me the same room every year facing the courtyard, which has 2 doubles and an armchair, but no couch for an extra visitor to sleep on. So, I'm trying to find out as quick as he can let me know whether his spot is available for someone else or not. My son gave up his spot to go on a Boy Scout trip to the sand dunes. I'm pretty sure my wife is either going with the scouts or staying home with our daughter. If someone really needs a place to crash, there is always the option of a sleeping bag on the floor. I can supply inflatable sleep pad and bag.
  22. Doh!
  23. Alright, thanks anyway. I'll just spend the $49 someday to upgrade if I need it. Thankfully upgrading to Mountain Lion didn't force my hand in that regard, as previous Mac OS upgrades did.
