I'd still upgrade the source to something better than the iPod. You could get a DACport LX for $249 and play your digital music through that out of your laptop, and the soundstage is bigger than the one from an iPod with line out dock. If you must use the iPod, look for one of those SRS labs devices that plugs into the bottom of an iPod, and put that between the iPod and the amp. I haven't tried that, but the software version was sometimes fun to play with - not accurate, but fun.

Wow, that sucker wont fit through any iPhone cases at all. Fail.

So there's also a beer called "Tactical Nuclear Penguin". What will they come up with next, "Mangled Baby Ducks"? -
I'll let you know - this one is in very good condition cosmetically and functionally, although the keyboard and mouse need to be cleaned up. It's a 20" with a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo and maxed at 3GB RAM, and has a 500GB 7200 RPM HD. I'm pretty sure it will be replaced with a new model next month, because I want to have multiple users logged in at the same time while running a few music servers in the background. So, who is staying up late tonight to order an iPad mini? We've got a 1st 2nd and 3rd Gen iPad all with cellular, so we aren't really in the market, but I thought about snatching up a mini to replace the 1st Gen iPad. Not sure we need it though. I almost like the idea of being stuck with iOS 5.1.1 so we can't lose Google Maps.

I'm leaning towards the 3A, but may want to use it un-amped with my iPhone or iPad sometimes. So I have a few questions: 1) Does it come with the adapter to use it with a 3.5mm jack? 2) How bulky is the balanced plug with single ended adapter (since it now has the crossover inside the IEM)? 3) Does anyone make an adapter to use it with the balanced SR-71b or ALO Rx Mk3? (not that anyone would do that)

I can now fit into my gorilla suit !! (the kind with hair and a face mask)

I'm leaving my iPad 3 at 5.1.1 for now, due to the utter suckage of maps. My wife and daughter didn't understand why I was upset with them for updating their iPhone 4S to iOS 6.0 until I showed them maps. Then they had a sad.

I probably wont do anything for 2-3 weeks.

I still have my blue lab coat with dinosaur iron-ons plastered all over it.

I wasn't pissed when they dropped floppy drives, because I had already been using CD-R and for a while and it was a logical move. But right now, with music CDs and DVD video's still being sold in high numbers, it seems to be the wrong move to drop built-in optical drives in a large desktop computer just to make it thinner without reducing footprint. Heck, the MacMini footprint got bigger when they dropped optical drives. I can maybe understand it if they were able to reduce the footprint on the desk with this move. I just think they need a better reason to drop the optical drive than to give the iMac a 5mm edge, or to make the Mac Mini 1/2" less tall (while making it wider). I don't buy much music online, unless it's lossless. Most of my music comes from CD's I buy from Amazon.com. I use the iMac as a music server, with an external 3TB drive holding everything I rip. We do buy fewer DVD's these days, but I still have hundreds of DVD to finish ripping into iTunes with Handbrake.

I think the middle ear scanner isn't finalized yet, so I had silicone impressions. Plus, they were only able to demo the scanner on Friday, and I didn't know that and so I missed trying it.

Apple maps still places my mother-in-law's home about 15-20 blocks away from the real location, which is unacceptable. I tried checking her address soon after I got iOS 6 because of reports of problems, and I was driving up to Denver to see her anyway. After the discovery I reported the problem to Apple (over 3 weeks ago) with no fix yet. I've been using Navigon since 2009, and while it doesn't always choose the route that I would pick, it's never sent me somewhere that was totally wrong. Same with Google Maps, which got me all the way to North Carolina and back this summer.

My 16/768 Retina MBP display is very smooth. Haven't noticed dropped frame or glitches. -
That's funny because I just said that to my wife a minute ago.

Well, I'm pretty upset with Apple about the new iMac, because I do use an optical drive a lot to I rip all my new CDs into lossless and rip my DVD movies into iTunes. Maybe it's good to omit stuff to lighten up a portable, although it's been a pain in the ass with my retina MBP. But I see ABSOLUTELY NO BENEFIT from a thinner iMac with no optical when it still uses up the same amount of desk space as before. I want to write to Tim Cook with HEY APPLE, IT'S A FREAKING DESKTOP COMPUTER, WTF? I've been dying to upgrade my 2006 iMac since January, but we held out for an update due in May, and waited and waited, and now I wish I'd had spent the last 9 months using a better Mac. But at this point I'm not buying an 18 month old iMac design, so Apple has me by the balls. Fricking stupid SuperDrive hanging off the back and all. Bastards. I was hoping it would help, but ranting about it doesn't make me feel any better.

I'd still pick #23 over #3 if you are looking for a cute or playful logo. #3 seems a little too "toys-R-us" like I think.
-
I like #13 and #23, but don't see anything wrong with your current logo, just that others are a little more playful or fun.
-
Does that mean you got a fake?

If I recall from past complaints, there were issues with hiss and gain, are these not fixed or are they new issues of concern?

I've been out of touch with that, but I got them impression from Jerry that things are well sorted at this point. I didn't specifically question him about it in particular.

I agree they sounded different, and the JH13FP didn't have the weight and presence or slam of real instruments like the JH16FP (the JH16FP have a psychological hit in the gut, since there is no real subwoofer in the room to do that). For the non-JH3A IEM I felt the Fostex HP-P1 had a bit better and more open sound quality than the Qables amp I tried. I really couldn't say how the new FP universal demos compare to my custom fit old model JH13, because I had to hold the demos in my ear to keep a seal, and it's really distracting trying to listen at the show. I brought my JH13 with me, and still prefer the actual customs over universal demos, but every time I've tried a universal demo and then bought the custom, the final one that is made for my ears was better than the demo. The JH3A rig to me was more transparent (Macbook Air > Halide Bridge USB to Coax > JH3A), and seemed to offer a clearer window into the music with effortless and unending bass power and depth. But as far as imaging and soundstage it's hard to compare the demo to an actual custom.
