Are you happy with your old JH13's? If so, then just listen and enjoy, and don't sweat the details. In my case I loved the old JH13Pro but they left me wishing for just a little bit more, and the JH16Pro freqphase do it for me.

I have read in the past that higher Mhz memory can often be used in a slower RAM bank, but that there are risks that the memory wont sync up properly with the slower RAM slot speed. This was something I recall reading when I could only find 1066 Mhz RAM locally for a Macbook that called for 800Mhz RAM. In the end I just got the proper speed online and didn't try my luck. Otherwise it shouldn't harm the Macbook in any way I can think of other than a kernal panic (i.e. crashes) if the Mac has trouble accessing the RAM. That might leave you with a corrupted hard drive depending on what it's doing when it crashes. -

Yes, it installs an audio device called soundflower that allows the audio to be captured while the selected area on the screen is also captured as video. -

Got our taxes done last night and we get a nice refund. However, as planned this refund is about half as big as last year because we were having too much withheld and we made adjustments to keep more of our money. Despite that we still had several thousand more than necessary withheld, hence the refund. So, make sure you make adjustments to your withholdings each year, so that you aren't giving Uncle Sam too big of a free loan. Unfortunately the stupid fiscal cliff debacle means that we can't submit our eFile until the end of February if we want our $2,500 American Opportunity Education Tax Credit (or whatever it's called). The IRS doesn't have everything entered into their tax tables, so they get to hold the money and earn interest on it until mid-March or later, when they are finally ready to accept returns with that credit being used.

Another alternative is iShowU for capturing the screen, but it seems to be processor dependent i.e. whether the higher resolutions that you capture will be captured for smooth or jerky in playback. However, the update I just installed claims to be 2x as fast (I don't have the HD version). http://www.shinywhitebox.com/ishowu-v1/ http://www.shinywhitebox.com/ishowu-hd/ -
I've been using the free app Mocha VNC for that, and I can access and control any mac in the house while I'm in the house, as long as I know the internal IP address. But I can only seem to access the iMac from the outside when I'm not in the house (using the external IP address), so I had to get a LogMeIn account to access my rMBP from outside the house until I figure things out. My rMBP seems to have the same external IP address. But I know I must be looking at something wrong, and maybe I just need to open a different port on the rMBP or on the router. I just can't recall how I set it up with the iMac the first time around. LogMeIn seems to work really well, is speedy, and easier to mouse around with, but it's has a monthly charge with it (under $10/mo if I recall).

Hey sorry, I was just busting your balls in fun because we all know you know where it is. I KNOW I clicked on a smiley face to add, but it's not there. Weird.

I believe that when they take it "from the hip" they mean the hip bone aka Ilium, not the hip joint and socket area.

I would never call the JH16Pro bass heavy - the balance is superb, and as much as I love the JH13Pro I think that the freqphased JH16Pro are a noticeable step up. As good as my original JH13Pro are, the JH16Pro FP's deep bass is not suffering that slight disconnect from the mid-bass, and the JH16Pro FP mids are so much richer and fuller and present/live than the JH13Pro that I was taken aback by them on my first listen. I still cannot think of anything that I would change about them. The JH16Pro (and maybe the ES5 if there was no JH16) could be my only headphones if I had to sell all the rest of them to raise some cash. Prior to owning my top two IEM I would have said that the JH13Pro would have had the honor of "desert island headphone". Could I still be happy if the JH13 were my only headphones now? Maybe, but it would be easier if I had never heard better.

Dinny, I was in a similar boat with 6 years out of the iMac and 4 years out of the Macbook Pro. I'm loving my 15" rMBP but I might have gone for the 13" if it had come out first. -

That's pretty cool. It brings back fond memories of Texas A&M (class of '84), and it was great school with great sports teams. A while back there was a video of several guys shooting hoops from the top of the stands at Kyle field, but this video is more fun. Note - Gary Kubiac was a great quarterback at the time that I was there, and he won several bowl games for three of the years I was there. I think he graduated a year ahead of me. It's to bad for him that the Broncos acquired John Elway around the same time that Gary joined them. I still root for coach Gary and the Texans when the Broncos don't do well, but I still feel like I'm rooting for a Bronco (former backup qtr back). I may well become a fan of whatever team Johnny Football ends up with.

I tried it at RMAF 2012 with some LCD-3 that Schiit provided at their table, and with my HE-500. I thought it sounded fantastic with the LCD-3 but it was slightly bright with my HE-500 + silver dragon cable. Not sure why, but someone suggested that it was the Schiit balanced DAC that sounds bright (I suppose the LCD-3 are a little darker than my HE-500 with silver dragon cable?). It certainly seems like a bargain for the price, and actually reminded me a little of a more spacious and punchier sounding version of a DACmini which I prefer with my LCD-2 over the HE-500.
