Marc, personally I think that Sinn is a nicer watch than the TAG Classic.

My father's day card came with a coupon good for one big screen 3D plasma TV. I'm considering this: LG Electronics 60PH6700 60-Inch 1080p 600Hz Active 3D Plasma HDTV with Smart TV $1199 Any thoughts? Reviews have been favorable, and it's several hundred cheaper than competitors, but it's new and there aren't that many out there to know about longevity. All brands have complainers, and I went to Amazon to see about 10% very unhappy with Panasonic, Samsung, and others. My primary concern would be reliability and picture - I do want blacker blacks than my old 60" LCD with good protection from burn-in, but most of all I want something that will run and run for years. My Sony 42" and Panasonic 60" rear projection LCD HDTV's were bought in 2004 and 2005 respectively and still run great, with one bulb change in each one during that time. They might keep going another 5 years if we didn't want 3D or 1080p. I don't really care too much about smart TV features since I can use the internet connectivity and apps my xBox 360, PS3 and Apple TV (for netflix, hulu, amazon prime video, etc.) Sound is also not a major concern because it will be hooked up to a 5.1 amp and speakers. It is a pain that it doesn't come with the active glasses std, but I only need to add two pair for my son and I to use with PS3 or Xbox 360 games.

I haven't seen an update lately, but since ATT added LTE to Colorado Springs in the past week we've gotten poor service (me and son). Our iPhone 5s frequently switch back and forth between LTE, 4G, 3G, E and o We often can't use data without going to airplane mode and back to get it to lock onto some kind of data for a while.

It wasn't too ruthless with the stock PSU, and never ran for long with the S22 I had built for it when the stock one died, so I haven't heard this side of the Sq Wave XL before. It always seemed to smooth out the sound and make bright phones more tolerable with it's smooth and buttery warmth.

The Apex Pinnacle was quite good with HD800 at the last RMAF as well. I really enjoy the ZDT with the HD800, and it's a shame they were a limitted run. The Luxman P-1u sounds quite similar to my ZDT with partial silver transformers, and was excellent with the HD800.

NuForce Mobile Music Pump (MMP)
HeadphoneAddict replied to Dusty Chalk's topic in Headphone Amplification
Well, if it's better than their Icon mobile that would be a plus. Some of their higher end stuff is pretty good - the CDP-8 is a fantastic sounding CD player, and I mean it's quite good and beat my Apogee mini-DAC when compared side by side as a source. And the DAC-100/HAP-100 are an excellent match for driving the picky HD800. The HAP-100 by itself is very competitive with my Maxed Woo WA6 and upgraded tubes, which cost 2x as much. Their iDo is a good iPod > COAX S/PDIF converter, and it's RCA output from the built-in DAC is still pretty decent (although the built-in headphone amp is not nearly as good). Their new STA-100 speaker amp is pretty nice too, and I'll be reporting on that one in a bit. -

x2 I married a non-Jew, and eventually became a Christian myself, and my family came to terms with it. My first marriage to a "nice jewish girl" lasted only 2 years, with 18 months of that in marriage counceling. This August we reach our 21st anniversary...

Helped my son with his Eagle Scout project today, rejuvenating the playground and gardens at the local Ronald McDonald House Charity. We spread 10 tons of pea gravel and 4 yards of mulch, after replacing all the edging. We also painted the railings along the porch and wheelchair ramp. My wife and I feel like we died and don't know it yet. Zombies...

I think both watches are very nice. The Zenith El Primero VPH 36,000 is on my wish list at Amazon, but the Carrera still has a respectable movement as well (I.e. not an off the shelf movement like an ETA). In my case I'm partial to SS bracelets rather than leather straps, but both of those watches are well suited for a leather strap. One thing I like more are luminous hands and markers, and I think you get that with the Carerra but not the Zenith.

I'm partial to the Citizen Eco-Drive Diver as an homage to the Submariner with an added bonus of the phallic minute and hour hands. I'm still trying to figure out how they open the watch from the front to service it, since the case is a one-piece unit with a screw down crown and no removable back. It shouldn't need much servicing since the solar-charged battery lasts over 20 years, but I suppose the gasket around the screw down crown can wear out every few years. The SS bracelet is a low-cost replacement for the rubber strap that came with it, and the watch shop had just the right parts for matching the band to the watch. I think it turned out perfect with the bracelet. My son will use the Victorinox Dive Master 500 when he goes scuba diving again. The luminous hands are very bright with both watches after just a 15 second charge with a flashlight (or just sunlight for a few minutes) although the Citizen glows a little brighter. But he's less likely to scratch the sapphire crystal on the Dive Master, and leaving the rubber strap means it will fit him with or without a wetsuit. He wanted a Citizen WR200 dive watch (Scuba Fin model) but I think this will make a better reward for finishing up his work toward Eagle Scout this summer.

Sound quality isn't terrible but isn't great either, but what we like the most is being able to not lose stations when we travel out of range, like with FM. I think we use ch 2 Hits 1, ch 3 20 on 20, ch 15 Pulse, ch 60 Outlaw Radio and ch 59 The Highway and one other country channel, as well as ch 63 The Message christian music, ch 66 jazz, ch 68 new age jazz, and ch 114 fox news the most. I have an old Sirius radio from 2006 I was using with an account I set up around 2004. And last month I was able to get them to merge that old account with my newer XM radio account that I have my Infiniti and Subaru on. The old Sirius account number actually absorbed the newer XM radio account, and the newer account went away. They also sent me a free XM radio to replace the one that I bought 7 years ago. So, I am getting the multi-radio discounts, and I'm still using the old sirius radio since I haven't had a chance to activate the new XM radio that's replacing it. So Sirius and XM are playing nice together here.

I'm using the final version of the Nuforce HD Player, and the HP-800 sound pretty nice unamped with the iPhone or iPad when using the HD player set to "correct" the HP-800's response. I still haven't bothered to dig out the MDR-V6 again, but since the HD Player does more than EQ it might not work well with them. I am told that this is more than just an EQ for iPhone, and that the HD Player actually actively counteracts or suppresses driver ring and distortion. They put up some graphs on their web site showing actual measurements. http://www.nuforce.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=37 The effect with and without the HD Player is pretty amazing. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't heard it for myself. Here is more info about what it does: http://www.nuforce.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=36&Itemid=2576 With the iPhone and iPad the HP-800's faults stand out more than with my Macbook Pro > Amarra Music Player > Nuforce DAC-100 > Nuforce HAP-100 amp. The Mac rig with software and upgraded DAC/amp clearly beats the stock music player on iPad/iPhone, but the Nuforce HD Player brings the enjoyment out of the unamped iPhone much closer to the level of the computer rig! With some songs I might actually enjoy the iDevice/HP-800 via Nuforce HD player more.

I don't think there is a good answer to that question. If the iPhone had a full battery and and went dark shortly after the alert and lost phone message, then I think somebody decided to keep it for themselves. Did you call the cab company ASAP while it was still moving back to the airport, to make sure they knew that you knew the cab driver still had it. I don't know how long it will take someone to hack your lock password, but if you have data in the phone that others shouldn't see (email accounts or passwords to social media) then now is probably a good time to remote wipe it. Unfortunately that means your message with the hotel and phone number will go away, and you can't track it any more. At least with iOS 6 they can't access your new iMessages after they restore the phone themselves like iOS 5 allowed. With the luck I have, the person with my phone would debate with themselves for a couple of hours, and then go to the phone to get my number, and find that I'd already wiped it, so they'd get to keep it because I got scared (the old "report the lost credit card only to find the wallet 3 minutes later" routine).

Jerry told me that the 3A does improve further on the phase alignment, but that the FreqPhase was closer to the 3A results than he'd initially expected. He can still adjust the timing/phase of the amps and drivers via programming, just no active crossover anymore. I still find the universal fit demos of any custom IEM difficult to seal, and they don't give me consistent sound quality with too much change in sound as I shift them and try to get them in a better position with a seal. So, I found it hard to compare the JH16-3A to the JH13 or JH16 FreqPhase at RMAF 2012. I could not honestly say how much better the 3A was to the non-3A JH16Pro at RMAF, but overall I was slightly more immersed in the sound with the 3A rig. It may have been placebo, or it may have changed if I'd gone back and refitted the non-3A JH16 again for a better seal the next time around. The main thing I liked the most about the 3A demo was that the bass level control could crank up the bass impact quite a bit without hurting the proper blending of the mid and upper-bass into the lower midrange. The frequency that the 3A bass control was centered around wasn't too low (like JH13 50Hz hump) or too high (like UE11Pro upper bass hump). In the end, I wanted my custom IEM to be truly portable, and the 3A with it's extra bulk and short battery life wasn't what I was looking for. Having to use a bulky cable adapter on the cable to go directly out of an iPhone in a phone case wasn't going to work either. EDIT to add that my custom fit JH16 FreqPhase sound quite a bit better than the demo set did at RMAF, even though I enjoyed the demos. I may actually have preferred my JH13 original sauce to either of the FreqPhase demos due to the better seal and isolation.
