  1. I picked my Blue Mako XL up as a 1-month old used watch for $115 shipped, with both the rubber strap + signed SS bracelet, with box and manual. Strangely, no receipt... I do like interesting and cool watches, regardless of costing a little or a lot. I like to get value for my money. What I like about Orient is that they make their movements in house, and I understand that many are decently decorated, while Chr. Ward uses an ETA-2893-2 and doesn't sign it. But it's been quite hard to resist buying a Christopher Ward watch during the sale, as I have my eye on the C60 GMT Trident, but I must resist, resistance is not futile. But for $658 maybe one could make an exception? I must remind myself, why buy a new GMT when I have a 14 year old GMT?
  2. Man, that's nice and a lot cheaper than a blue Seamaster Pro. Good score. I like blue watches. My Orient Blue Mako XL dial has more of a "blue satin" look to it, but often it's hard to tell that it's blue. One pic it looks black, the other you can tell it's blue. (I installed a SS bracelet on it the other day, so that's different in the photos)
  3. Huh, it's a DACmini PX act-alike
  4. Happy Father's Day guys!
  5. Wow Brent, that's something I've never heard of happening before, until now. get well soon!
  6. I think that the 3TB plugged into the airport extreme would let you transfer about 60-80 GB to the drive per hour over 802.11n 5Ghz. If you are connected via wired ethernet you'd get about 150-180 GB copied in one hour. Real life speeds are not as fast the the 300 mbps wireless/1000 mbps wired that they promise. A direct connected USB 3.0 drive will let you copy about 350 GB onto the drive in an hour. I'd almost think the 2GB portable is the best choice because you can use it directly connected while mobile and it's very fast, or plug it into the Airport Extreme when you want to access it from anywhere on the network. Direct connect will make editing and saving photos much faster.
  7. It was actually clear acrylic paint from the hobby store, used for car and airplane models. I don't think it was Tamiya paint, but something with a similar name. To prepare I'd clean the ear tips with alcohol and plug the sound bores with round toothpicks very gently wedged into the opening. Then I'd hang the ear phones by the cable with the ear guides bent in such a way so that the toothpicks pointed at the ground the ground. While letting the IEM dangle I would use a small brush and gently add a thin layer of clear acrylic paint to the ear canal portion of the JH13Pro, without allowing any bubbles to form, and let it dry over night. I'd repeat the process 2-3 times before trying them on - doing it this way leaves a negligible increase in thickness from just one layer, and it would take 2-3 layers to feel them get tighter. I suppose the acrylic paint goes on thinner than nail polish, but you can't really do more than one layer at a time without causing either streaking or bubbles. I did this with my 1st pair of JH13Pro, with about 12 layers total to the right ear piece (4 treatments of three layers total) about 4 years ago, and I haven't needed to mess with them since. These are the pair that used to travel with me because it wouldn't hurt as much if they got lost or damaged. My second pair of JH13Pro fit perfectly right out of the box, and for a long time I would only use them at home, which was a shame because nobody could see the cool flame paint job. But now that I have JH16Pro FreqPhase to baby at home, the flame job IEM can go out with me.
  8. ok EDIT - I just went to edit the for sale advert and I can't change the title to remove the LOOK HERE, sorry.
  9. Okay, so then is there an acceptable way for me to make amends, including fixing my Behavior/Attitude, or shall I always remain a pariah here? Last time I said I was sorry with an excuse, this time I am just sorry.
  10. And you didn't read my post as it was intended by me, but rather you will always see me through your rose colored glasses. I've already answered your questions. I don't even know why I respond, because you will just scour through my post and pick out something to misinterpret and use against me. I also posted in the for sale forum before before I knew that the shit hit the fan here, because the people in the "other thread" told me that only a few people read that thread and that those who did read were not interested. I picked here first because you guys are usually the best people to deal with when selling and buying. And, Tyler and I hung out several times over the years when he lived in Colorado, and we've shared gear and bought and sold with each other before (I still have the turntable he sold me), so it's nothing new to talk about those things with him.
  11. Thanks to you guys I bought an extension years ago, but turns out 90% of my listening is done in a chair with my ears about 3 feet from the headphone jack. I keep the excess cable coiled up in my lap when listening.
  12. Tyler, did you see the PM I sent to you about my O2 Mk1?
  13. What I posted actually did have a basis in reality - they smelled very strongly of hair gel, and in my chats with the eBay seller he used that fact as partial proof or provenance of who the previous owner was. He could give me no other evidence other than photos of all the braille labels on the rest of the audio gear. When I recalled those chats as I made my post about the K240M, I thought it was slightly funny but I admit I shared it the wrong way. I should have just told my story surrounding the purchase and the seller's claims - if I posted in bad taste then I understand being called out for that, and I am sorry, but calling me racist? I've used hair gel too, so am I a racist against myself as well? Sorry, but there ISN'T A RACIST BONE IN MY BODY. You can try to judge me all you want, but you don't know me or what's in my heart. But now that you've shamed me into submission and made me feel bad, do you feel better? When I sell any of the gear that I currently have in the "for sale forum" I am going to give 15% of the funds collected to Todd to give to his charity of choice, including the NAACP or any LGBT organization. Todd can take the tax write-off so I won't benefit from it.
  14. Well, if these headphone's DAC sounds as bad as the DAC in the lightning to 30-pin adapter we're Fucked...
  15. True Dat. I actually still have some AKG K240M 600 ohm, and preferred them to my K1000 since they're easier to drive and sound wonderful with my ZDT amp. The eBay seller I got them from bought an unclaimed storage unit that he said belonged to Stevie Wonder's ex-wife, including tape decks and receivers with brail labels on them, and these headphones were in that lot of gear. They smelled like hair gel, so does that prove Stevie Wonder used these?
  16. My SR-007 Mk1 serial number is 71322. I don't know if there is really a way to tell how old they are from that.
  17. Well to be fair, the most recent iteration that's been shipped sounds pretty freaking good.
  18. Yeah, I had to get Audiocats to mod my SR-001 Mk2 about 5 years ago, and it ended up sounding like an SR-003 plugged into an SRM-1 Mk2 Pro, but in a portable footprint.
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Happy Birthday!
  22. That's too bad. My older brother has been in a same sex relationship in Texas for longer than my 22 year old marriage, and my family are all understanding or supportive.
  23. Thanks. I have a roofer coming to look at it tomorrow or Saturday. We just had the roof replaced after hail in 2012, so fingers crossed. We'll maybe use the previous roofer for the second opinion this time, because they refused to repaint the new flashing and left it shiny and weird. They didn't do a terrible job, but I'm trying the guy that my Metlife agent recommended first.
