  1. I have 5 Citizen Eco-Drive watches and love them all. I have a stainless perpetual calendar eco-drive chronograph with silver dial that I've never worn after I sized it, because I wore the Titanium version instead. I'd be willing let to let you have it for way below your budget (like $200), with 4 years of warranty left. I paid almost $290 on Amazon if I recall. I do not need to sell this and don't plan to post it anywhere else, I'm just offering it to you if it will help you out. PM me if you want photos, otherwise I plan to keep it and give it to my son or brother for Christmas.
  2. Just bought a new 2015 Subaru Forester XT Touring (2.0 turbo) today, with all the bells and whistles except we didn't need Navigation (I'd prefer to just use the iPhone and not spend the extra $2,200). I traded in the 2008 Infiniti G35x that I bought used 4 years ago, which at 86K miles we were looking at about $3.5K of work needing to be done by the end of the year (90K service, struts, brakes, tires, belts, battery). I got full blue book trade-in value, and $3,800 knocked off the price of the new car. We got 2.49% financing which didn't suck, but could have had 0.9% on the CrossTrek Hybrid. But if things go according to plan, the 60 month financing will be paid off in 24 months like we did with the G35x. The CrossTrek was cute and comfy but just too small inside for our family, and performance was lackluster when driving up the hills from Colorado Springs to Woodland Park (0-60 in 6.7 sec for the XT vs 10.1 for the Hybrid). However, on that 20 mile round trip test drive through the mountains the CrossTrek got 28 mpg and the Forester got 23 mpg (my G35x would have done about 20 mpg). Due to <100 miles on the cars I wasn't allowed to exceed 4,000 rpm, so the Hybrid was flat out in simulated 3rd gear CVT setting at 3200 rpm struggling to get up the hill at 50mph, while the XT just cruised up the mountain in 4th at 55 mph with the cruise control at half throttle (effortless). The tiny hybrid battery was fully discharged by the top of the hill, and fully charged by the return to the bottom of the hill, but it basically would not help at all on the long drive up-hill to the Eisenhower Tunnel. I forgot to take a nice photo, which I plan to get tomorrow.
  3. It took over three days for my daughter's iPhone to come back after being submerged in water. But it did work.
  4. Having to spend money to ship back a defective drive sucks, but it sounds like you didn't lose any data. I'm told that all drives will fail at some point, so RAID redundancy is almost a must if you want minimal downtime.
  5. Thanks. And I know exactly what you mean about missing them - when Greystone died last December I missed waking up with him curled up next my head. For a week or two I'd wake up in the morning and close my eyes to go back to sleep again, but notice that he wasn't there on the pillow, so I'd go looking for him and then I'd remember...
  6. Well, now I wish I had punched the motherfucker in the face. Here's why... My step-dad left almost everything to my mom. Since my step-dad's son is aka "the evil one" who treated my mom like crap for 26 years, she doesn't want him to have real valuables from her husband unless specified in the will - minor sentimental things like a yarmulka from a bar mitzvah, sure, but not something like her husband's gold watch. There's really no other tangible assets other than clothes and meds, with the house in my mom's name after she inherited it from her mom. So we sat down and after a little discussion we decided that my step-dad's vintage gold Omega from the 1950's, which his previous wife gave him as an engagement present decades ago, would go to her step-daughter's oldest son (her step-grandson in his 20's). It made sense that it would stay on his side of the family, since the boy's actual grandmother by blood had given the watch to his grandfather (my step-dad). So my mom, my step-sister, and I presented the watch to this young man after the funeral. Last night "the evil one" shows up at his sister's and nephew's hotel room and demanded the watch, and basically stole the watch from the kid under duress and fear! What kind of bastard steals an inherited watch from his young nephew? My step-father wore that watch during the entire 26 year marriage to my mom, and as his widow she had every right to give it to her grandchild after his grandpa dies. But this fucker storms in and takes it away from him! It's not like the man needs a $500-$1000 watch. He's an anesthesiologist who showed up to the funeral wearing a Rolex Sub (and his wife with her two-tone Datejust). My step-sister says he's got a drawer full of "dead people's watches" that he never wears and just pack rats them, and she'd rather have seen me get the watch than her brother (my brother and I both wanted her son to have it). This was a watch the boy would actually wear as a keepsake in memory of his grandpa. I guess it's a good thing I wasn't there when it happened, because I would have called the police and then waited for him to touch me so I could go all apeshit on his ass for "assaulting" me. He would have been down before I needed to reach for my oxygen tank. PS: It's really not a particularly valuable or desirable watch, especially with a repainted dial, but certainly a sentimental one. We had taken a photo of the watch so I could get more info about it for him later. His watch is on the left and was closer to the camera than mine, so it looks bigger than mine but is actually smaller.
  7. Sorry about Neko. The funeral went fine, and said step-brother behaved himself, but still didn't get together with us after the funeral. But my mom and step-dad's friends vastly outnumbered his family members, making up for the low number of family member on our side who could actually attend. It would have been awful for my mom if my daughter and I hadn't driven overnight to Houston, as my mom would have only had my brother's partner there with her as family. My brother's partner has been part of the family for the same 26 years as my step-dad was with my mom. Nobody at my brother's work could cover for him, so he could not attend without risking his job, which can can't afford to lose in case he needs the health insurance for possible lung cancer. It just keeps getting worse sometimes, before it gets better.
  8. Drove to Houston for my step-dad's funeral tomorrow. My eldest daughter came with me, and we've both only had about 3.5 hours of sleep since 9AM yesterday morning, because we didn't get to leave until 9PM yesterday after the news came late (driving 6 hours to Amarillo last night, and another 10 hours today). He was in the hospital with a broken hip and shoulder, and doing rehab with some diabetic complications (79 years old); but he seemed fine when my mom had lunch with him, and 2 hours later he was dead before she could make it back to say goodbye. He's been my step-dad for 26 years, and part of my life longer than my father or any previous step-dad, and he'll be missed. His eldest son is being an ass and has already divorced his part of the family from my mom, and wont even meet with us or have dinner with us after the funeral, before he flys back to NY. The younger daughter is a friend to my mom, and she will be spending time together with us after the funeral and celebrating Bob's life with memories. But this guy pisses me off, so pray for me that I don't try to punch his face out tomorrow. My mom is grieving and he's just adding to her loss. I wish I could talk smack with refinement, so I don't look like an asshat myself - I'd love to make him feel guilty and boorish by his behavior.
  9. I picked up a used Speedmaster Pro GMT "Great White" - it came on a SS bracelet, but I'm using a black/silver NATO right now. I'm hoping my son would like this as a graduation present in a couple of years.
  10. Below is the mesh I bought, but it seems too fine. I considered the one you linked me to, but I'm considering a genuine Omega mesh instead. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281206556645?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&var=580250003589&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  11. Hi Skye! Cool cat.
  12. It looks better in real life than on their website. I think it looks a bit better than that Orient 42mm Mako XL that I posted before. Congrats! On this end, I finally installed a new Swiss leather strap with deployant clasp on the Speedmaster Pro, but I didn't go for an Omega strap yet. I am really loving this watch, and my other's are being neglected.
  13. Sorry to hear that? Does a chiropractor help your pain? I see a chiropractor and get massage for my pain and it really helps me.
  14. Or, I've been offered one of these as a gift from a friend. Suggestions?
  15. I was thinking about installing this shark mesh bracelet on the Speedmaster, which looks a bit like the JB bracelets the astronauts wore with theirs, when not using a velcro strap to wear it on the outside of their spacesuit. I've got a shot of it next to the factory 1171 bracelet. I see the Omega version a lot on Seamasters too, but that one is a bit thicker and sturdier than the aftermarket ones.
  16. Hilarious, but how has she not alienated all of her peers? (NSFW) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnVXzh1HK7A
  17. This was a good article on the watch, that's a little more positive about it. I never watched the video. http://www.ablogtowatch.com/withings-activite-fitness-tracker-device-elegant-timepiece/
  18. I've been using the Withings Pulse 02 tracking watch, and looking forward to this new one.
  19. Well, technically it's still leather. I'm in the market for a real two piece leather strap, but I'm taking my time. Thinking about a Hirsch. PS: I'll take a picture of my shark mesh bracelet tomorrow and see what you guys think.
  20. I picked up a new leather NATO strap for my mid '70's Speedmaster Pro. It's really comfy and light, enough that I can forget I'm wearing a watch. This way I can avoid trashing the original and vintage 1171 bracelet during casual daily wearing. I can still put the SS back on when I want to be more dressy. I tried a generic JB clone shark mesh bracelet like the astronauts wore, but I didn't like the look on me. Before: After:
  21. Happy Birthday - didn't mean to miss it, sorry.
  22. Yeah, if not the over clock I'd look at the RAM
  23. Tyler, my son and I might be able to make room for you at the Marriott if you need a place to stay for RMAF. I invited Blutarsky but not sure he can make it.
