Happy birthday!

I can't agree with the brightness statements though. I walked around RMAF last weekend for two and a half days, sharing my HE-560 via HiFi-M8 DAC/amp and lossless music on iPhone 6 with dozens of people, and not one person complained about the sound in any way. Two gentlemen from Florida shared a table with me and my son for lunch on Saturday, and I let them try the HE-560. They went straight to the HiFiMan booth and tried to buy a pair, but Fang didn't have any for sale until the end of the day Sunday and these guys were leaving before then. The positive responses were universal. True, not everyone who liked them is going to actually buy them, but I'm pretty sure that I "sold" at least three HiFi-M8 and HE-560 after people tried my gear.

That looks like Tom Felton -
Tyll, you could try Jerg's "Fazer" mod on the HE-560, which puts dampening on the magnet structure to kill reflections, or his "re-grill mod" to use a more open grill material and reduce back-waves. Personally I'm a big fan of the HE-560 myself, and find their more open, holographic, and 3D presentation to be very pleasurable. I have been switching back and forth between the stock cable and my Moon-Audio Silver Dragon balanced cable, and I like them either way. I may have more hearing loss than you, and so the treble doesn't bother me at all. On the other hand, I did hear a few IEM that sounded to bright at RMAF, until I shoved them as deep into my ears as I could to tame the treble, so I appear to be sensitive to bad treble at other times. I'm also a big fan of the HE-500 and LCD-2 rev2 which I think are on a similar level to each other, and greater than the LCD-2 rev1 or HE-5LE, but slightly behind the HE-560 and LCD-X. I have posted previously that the HE-6 treble is smoother and more refined, and with enough power on hand I might prefer the HE-6 the most. And when the HE-6 are underpowered a lot of people call them bright sounding.

It's silly, but I don't like the idea of a developing a faded "Coke" bezel on my pristine GMT Master II, so I'm afraid to wear it out in the sunlight. Do you ever feel like protecting the GMT Master and keeping it in the safe like the "crown jewels", and then instead of using replica end-lnks actually wearing a complete replica with swiss ETA movement? I tend to only wear mine indoors or when going out to dinner at night. And, I put clear packing tape on the bracelet clasp to prevent desk diving swirlies, but then the half-peeled off tape looks trashier than the tiny scratches. Yeah, I've got issues...

Bose sues Beats for patent infringement

I read that he wore the pink Beats to support breast cancer, and now instead of being able to give $10K to breast cancer charities it goes to the NFL. Nice. (Can't spell) -

I was simply going to ask him for photographic examples of decent and indecent taste in Asian women, but decided to drop it.

That's pretty good, I'd be gasping for air (flopping around like a fish out of water) after 100 yards with 5L of oxygen on board. We're all proud of her!

Hi wife (not sure how to spell Fi Fi ?) is very attractive, and a few years ago she went to dinner in Colorado with me, Fang, Jack Wu and his dad, and a few others. But she hasn't come to RMAF for the past 3 years and is working for her family business is China (truck parts). It's hard to believe their new daughter is already 2.5 years old now! Fang is a great guy and deserves someone like her.

Got to RMAF in Denver at about 4PM, and spent the first hour at the V-MODA table of all places. Went out to Dinner with Fang and his HiFiMan entourage afterwards. Gotta see the rest of the show in only two days now.

Too Bad I didn't see this first - http://www.garth.org/archives/2011,08,27,169,fix-time-machine-sparsebundle-nas-based-backup-errors.html "Fix Time Machine Sparsebundle NAS Based Backup Errors" -

I googled this and found this - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4076?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US but it Applies to Time Capsule errors. And from another page, "A backup verification failure can also be caused by the use of network backup solutions from manufacturers other than Apple, or by a hardware problem with the backup disk." -

When I finally clicked "start new backup" as depicted in the screenshot above, it slowly deleted everything in the previous backup. I have two other time machine drives going back as far as Feb and one back to April, as well as a working clone, so I just let it do it's thing and started over... It's very slow though, with another 6 hours estimated remaining till completion for the last 300GB of the backup. -
I picked up this black Luminox Colormark up last week with a partial trade of a couple of Eco-Drive perpetual calendar chronographs. It's the steel version with screw down crown and case-back. I'm down to one titanium Eco-Drive perpetual calendar now, but I wear my Luminox 1842 Field Chronograph more anyway. I love the tritium gas tubes for night viewing (thought about buying Marc's Ball swiss auto for that reason). So, now I have a black Colormark to go with my previous white one (below). They're very comfortable, but I did replace the rubber strap with another Luminox strap that fits me a little better.

So, Time Machine gave me the following error, which I've never seen before, when doing an incremental backup to my Drobo 5N on the network. I've been backing up to the Drobo since March 21st and have now lost the entire backup history. Canceling, Rebooting, and restarting the Backup Later didn't help. My 1.72GB backup partition still had about 500GB of free space on it, and I didn't do anything that would have made the newest backup too big to fit. Has this happened to anyone else? This is a good reason why you should have more than one backup of your computer. Fortunately I still have two encrypted portable time machine backups with 6 months of history. I keep one off site, and plug the other one in about once a day before bedtime. The Drobo network backup was the only one with hourly backups. Plus I have a bootable clone that I keep hidden around the house. Note - a 940GB time machine backup via 100 feet of Cat-5 ethernet cable takes over 24 hours the first time, or about 6x slower than directly to a USB drive. I should have moved the Macbook downstairs to the network closet for this 1st backup via a shorter/better cable. -
Here in CO we pretty much stick with 3 season tents and mummy sleeping bags, as opposed to tarps and sleeping quilts. The weather can change so quickly that the extra protection and warmth might be needed in the middle of summer at high altitude. Our family has been using things like Sayer squeezable water filters, MSR pocket rocket compressed gas stoves, and 2lb REI sleeping bags with Thermarest pads, and a 4lb REI Half-Dome T2 Plus 2-man tent. My son's Osprey internal frame backpack is about 65L and pretty light, with a life-time warranty. So even with him being somewhat out of shape he manages the boy scout backpacking trips just fine while helping to carry some younger scout's extra gear too.

So, it's also likely that the "Time machine crashes during backups due to Spotlight mdsworker crashes" issue may come back? -

The first time I saw the newest WRX I thought that Subaru had brought back the Legacy GT, so it did look bigger to me. I like them. But our local dealer was sold out till December, and we liked the Turbo Forester too, so we got that rather than wait for a WRX or buy from someone else. We've been loyal and bought 5 Subaru since 2000 from one salesman at the local dealership, as we always get a great discount plus a good trade-in price. I got $4K off sticker (less than invoice) and full blue book trade-in on the old car (private sale woulda brought in about $1500 more in exchange for more PiTA). Also, didn't know they brought back automatic transmissions to the WRX. My chronic tendinitis makes driving a stick more difficult, due to the clutch! Making me get rid of my 2004 STi. So Congrats TMo!!!
