Thanks. I'm still in a lot of pain, and discovering just how little upper body strength I have to go along with my low oxygen levels, so moving from chair to toilet to bed etc. is quite difficult. They're confident I'll be doing better by the time I'm discharged on the 6th. You'll probably want to leave the bezel, dial and hands untouched, with minimal polishing of the case, so the sharp lines are not rounded off. Then the usual clean, oil and adjust. Because my original 1071 bracelet is worth almost $1000, I took it off and installed a leather strap with deployant clasp.

I saw that watch after I bought my 1976 moonwatch. It's tricky to decide how much restoration to do without de-valuing the watch. Mine came with a brushed 1071 bracelet (if I recall), but the new one's with the polished center links can be brushed to look like the bracelet on my Omega Great White GMT.

The other guy's insurance will pay out to the limits of his auto insurance policy. My insurance will then kick in, but will try to hang onto their money just the same. And there are some bills that we've already been lined up to pay for (wheelchair rental, purchase commode chair and shower chair). In 10 days I go home and someone's gotta be paying for a home health aid to come into the house for two wheelchair bound victims, while my wife's works full time and my other kids go back to school. I started off already disabled, and my status was fragile due to my lung disease, fibromylagia/tendonitis, and chronic upper body weakness with obesity. This is starting to push me over the edge of what I'm capable of. So, I've retained a very nice lawyer whose daughter goes to school with my girls. He'll let me focus on recovery instead of juggling insurance companies. He has a very good reputation. -

Have I said I love you? The pain meds are kicking in. -
It may also just be the new titanium line, but my 2 year old titanium eco-drive doesn't have sapphire.
-
I think that's from the prestige line, due to the sapphire.

It still doesn't feel like Christmas. I've endured about 3 hours of therapy today, and will have to do that every day until I go home on the 6th. It's terrifying (painful and breathless). We'll have to find home healthcare by my discharge on the 6th, although our health insurance wont pay for it. I went into this already disabled and don't have the strength, energy, or lung capacity to become fully independent before the next 6 weeks. This is a good reason to not let yourself become overweight like this, but it's hard to exercise with one working lung and fibromyalgia. My wife will not be able to return to work until the 2nd or 5th, because she and McKenna will be in Denver Swedish Medical Center next Monday-Thursday for her next surgery. The only ankle surgeon in Colorado Springs that can do this case was trained by our surgeon, but he's away for the holidays. So she will run out of paid time off/Holiday pay 2-3 days before she returns to work, I really need one of the buyers interested in my KGBH to complete the deal, so we can use the money for healthcare. Starting to get depressed, FML on Christmas Eve alone. -

NSFW Seatbelt bruise goes all the way to top of my right shoulder. My back is bruised. Backside of arm is bruised. Black left eye. Skin friction burns on left thigh and all along belt line. Etc. Oh, and I'm now told it's 5 broken ribs, plus one thigh, one ankle, & one kneecap. Feel like I was hit by a truck! -

I'm high all the time on painkillers right now. They've got me on a long-acting every eight hour med and a short acting every four hour med, plus 800 mg of Skelaxin muscle relaxant, and Restoril 15 mg at bedtime. -

Not if he bought the minimum required liability limits, and we use more than he's covered for. We should find out in the next few days how much coverage he bought. -

Yes it was closed later, but our westbound lanes had no ice or snow, athough you could probably outrun the fog after 75mph if you wanted to. I'm not sure what caused the eastbound accident that we passed, but fortunately, because we were going slower after seeing it, and flashing our brights at everybody that was going eastbound, we in effect reduced the total closing speed in the head-on collision caused the gentleman in the eastbound lane who seemed to be going full speed and lost control. I'm looking forward to seeing the accident report and investigation of the guesstimated speeds that both parties were traveling. I'm 100% certain that we were not driving too fast ourselves. The other gentleman who caused the accident has progressive insurance, and they have already excepted fault for the accident and will be replacing our car and other property that was damaged in the accident. I'm being transferred to an acute rehab program in Colorado Springs tonight. McKenna is not a candidate for that yet, but will be going back to surgery on Monday to have the pins and rods replaced with plates and screws. They could not keep her in the hospital until then, so she is going home to be cared for by my wife, son and other daughter until surgery next week. My son and his friends are going to move my daughters bedroom down to the dining room on the main floor, where she'll probably spend the next six weeks. McKenna is not allowed to bear weight, so we rented a wheelchair, and bought a transfer board, a commode with folding arms, and a shower chair. Then my wife's boss stepped in and paid for our commode and shower chair, even though I had given them my credit card information. I thought that was really nice! -

McKenna is doing a little better today in terms of swelling and pain control. They are tentatively planning her follow-up surgery on Monday, 29 December. Her initial surgery was done on Wednesday the 17th. I'm done with surgery for now, but they think I'm more likely to need the rehab hospital than her, because of my crazy medical history and being 40 pounds overweight. Thanks for all the prayers, and keep them coming please! -

McKenna is not doing well. She's been in excruciating pain all day. She's getting an ultrasound to rule out other new issues (blood clot etc). No amount of morphine is helping, and my wife is asking for them to give her an epidural. I pray she's feeling better soon. -

Our car is crammed between two cars at the tow yard, and against the fence. The kids will take a bunch of pictures, but I was able to catch two screenshots during the FaceTime call. -

I've readjusted my short term goals. Next on my list is being mobile enough for a bowel movement. Honest enough? No more making 6 month plans... -

Just met with the orthopedic surgeon. He strongly recommends against McKenna trying to physically attend school this spring. He says she's got at least a one year recovery ahead of her, with a lot of rehab, and at 21 years old she might end up with the ankles of a 60 year old. The damage to her ankles was "extensive". Grrrrr... -

Thanks for all the well wishes. So, McKenna went to the OR early Thursday AM to stabilize her bilateral lower extremity fractures, and the pins and rods will be changed to internal plates and screws in 10 days. That same time I had a rod placed in my left femur, and then yesterday I had internal plates and screws installed in my left ankle, and had my right patella reconstructed. My broken ribs really make mobility even harder, since moving takes my breath away. They're looking to send us to a rehab hospital in Colorado Springs next week, maybe in time for Xmas. We're in for a lengthy recovery process, and the impact on McKenna's college career and her future is significant. So I think I'll have to look for a personal injury lawyer. She's likely to have lifelong sequellae from her injuries, and we need to make sure her medical expenses are covered (as well as pain and suffering). We're both having nightmares and reliving the crash. It's horrible. Fortunately we get a refund on school fees for the spring, but we have to give back the financial aid that was used to pay for the non-refundable deposit (that will carry over to fall). She's had to defer her human rights semester abroad till the fall, but she was going to be away for the spring when all of her other friends were also going to be at semester abroad. If she goes to school at Duke this spring, she'll be wheelchair bound with no friends around to help her. Duke is offering to help her find last minute housing and transportation, but suggests that a personal leave of absence might be better. This will delay her graduation by 6 months and we're afraid it will delay law school for a year (if they don't accept new students for law school in the spring). Life (not "like") just got much more complicated, but we're both just happy to be alive! -
I'm going back into surgery in the morning, so wish me luck. My daughter is doing as well as can expected.
-
PS, pray that my daughters semester abroad will let her go in a wheelchair, or they will refund the $25,000 out-of-pocket that we paid for it! Pray that with her fibromyalgia, that she still be able to walk better than before.
