I didn't mean flipping like in for profit like a scalper. I meant like when we buy an Omega Seamaster and then decide we like the Speedmaster better, so we sell the first one to fund the next one.

Yes, much better than the flatter dial ones that came afterwards. This dial appears to have more depth and character than the newer silver dials from the early 2000’s

UPS says my Apple Watch (stainless with classic leather buckle) will be here tomorrow. But now that I just bought Ben a used Omega birth year watch for his graduation next year, I'm thinking about canceling the space grey sport model that's due to ship in 2-3 weeks. It seems silly to hang onto it for 6 months for his Christmas or birthday gift, when his response to the Apple watch was "meh". I've decided I'm not a huge fan of the sport with mineral glass screen. I guess I could flip it to someone who doesn't want to wait until June for one...

Bought my son a birth year watch from 1998, for either his 18th birthday in January or his graduation next year. From a very reputable watch reseller for $1300, but it may need a service. Fortunately it's Valjoux 7750 based, so I can get that done locally for less than half the cost of Omega service. I will not be buying back that quartz Aqua Terra after-all.

Oh, this one is the keeper. I don't know why I even entertained the possibility of buying back the quartz and keeping both, however. It's mainly that I can't resist a good bargain, and the AT quartz would have been something that I couldn't buy again at this price new with Omega warranty. The Jared reward points are the key to the low buy-back price. But, I don't know that it would have gotten any serious wrist time with the rest of my collection on hand. It would basically become an very expensive gift for my son or brother later on, and I don't need to spend that $$ now. I don't like a too small watch, and my vintage 35mm Seamaster DeVille is slightly smaller than what I would normally tolerate. But it looks better if I wear it farther down on my wrist. I used to wear a 36mm Rolex Oyster on bracelet for years without it feeling small. So, I think the larger dial size and thinner bezel of the AT 8500 is a big factor. On the wrist this 38.5mm AT 8500 feels and looks a little bigger than my Explorer II 16570, which I'm told is also 39mm. You can see from the photo above that the fit is just right. I see photos of others wearing the 41.5mm AT and it looks too big on them as well. So, I'm sure that the larger dial and smaller bezel on my AT make it look bigger than a 38.5mm most of the time. For that same reason, the 41.5mm AT 8500 with it's big wide dial just feels huge on my wrist. Meanwhile, my 42mm Planet Oceans or 43mm Seiko and Dive Masters and 42mm Explorer II with smaller dials and fatter rotating bezels look just as good on my wrist as my 39mm Explorer II and AT 8500, or 40mm Submariner and GMT II.

SR-009 is easier to drive, and I only liked the 007 on my KGBH amp. But some amps make the 009 sound too bright (KGSS, SRM-1 Mk2 Pro). I think the SRM-T1 and SRM-717 sounded good with the 009, as did my KGBH, but I don't know about a 727ii.

Hey Jacob, Incoming! I was having a hard time getting used to the ticking second hand on my new nearly $2K Omega Aqua Terra quartz. So I returned it to exchange it for a Skyfall Aqua Terra 8500 co-axial automatic, which I had to add cash to after a 15% discount. And I still don't have to pay the $525 for the full Omega service on my son's Planet Ocean (which I would have needed to do if I simply returned it for refund). This is the previous Bond blue 39mm version with frame around the date window, with many of these still on the shelves for sale. Frankly, I don't give a dam that this is the model Daniel Craig wore in the movie, it's just that the proportions look just right. I really didn't like the bigger size of the newer Master-Coaxial on my wrist as much (regardless of the color), nor the polished center links, and I prefer the look of this watch with a frame around the date window. I think the 2013-2014 model in blue is breathtaking, as the color changes with the light and movement. It's what I wanted in the first place and half the cost of the GMT II BLNR I also lust for, although a little more than double the cost of the quartz AT. The serial number is only 100,000 less than the Master-Coaxial that I tried on, so a similar age, but it was also $800 less than a Master-Coax. I also will earn $600 in Jared Rewards, and can redeem $100 for every $300 I spend next time - so they said that I can buy back my old unworn AT quartz for $1,290 after rewards. Do you think I should? I have until Sunday to decide, but frankly Ben doesn't want it and I probably won't wear it nearly as much as the Skyfall (although it is very thin and pretty). I was planning to sell a mid-size Seamaster Pro and Seamaster Great White GMT to help pay for this new upgrade, so I'm thinking the answer is no. Also, thanks for the deal on the leather strap Jacob, it arrived safely and should look good on my Aqua Terra or Moonwatch, or most of my other remaining 20mm watches (except my Luminox and Victorinox are 22mm).

Happy belated birthday, sorry i was away.
-
All I got so far was a spare charging cable today.
-
Can you send me a PM with how much you want and how many mm wide it is?
-
My Stainless Apple Watch is still scheduled to ship by 4/24-5/8, but I just got an email noting acceleration on my Space Grey sport ship date = Delivers: Apr 29 - May 12 by Standard Shipping EDIT - NEVERMIND The changed date was just for an extra strap I ordered.

Last December I sent my brother 3 of my watches for his birthday (pearl harbor day) and Christmas. A TAG Heuer Classic 2000 and Revue Thommen 2-tone Grandville (both from the mid 90's) and my Hamilton Khaki Field Watch from 2013. He recently ran into some financial trouble of his own doing, so I bought the Hammie back for $250 to help him out without rewarding his poor choices. Now I feel bad, and think I'll send this back to him this Christmas. Or should I keep it? PS: I paid $450 for it the first time, and $250 to get it back, and I did just send him a Victorinox chronograph that he gave me to fix and keep along with the $250 cash. So, maybe I'll keep this.

I'm interested in the strap, but don't know the size.
-
I enjoy my three Luminox, and my son enjoys his two Luminox. But I'm picky about a busy looking dial, so not all models are for me.
-
I should have my Stainless with classic buckle leather strap here between this Friday and 5/8, while my Space Grey Sport is scheduled for 5/13-5/27. My extra charging cable (for the car and travel) shipped today.

Happy Birthday!

Jacob, I found this on the RolexForums http://www.rolexforums.com/showpost.php?p=4924505&postcount=45 So, your 1998 GMT dial which gets brighter when hit with light may in fact be luminova, not tritium, even if marked "SWISS T<25" ?
-
He says he barely had to touch it.

I'd go cuckoo for the perpetual calendar in the 1st photo, but I'd have to sell everything to buy one. But I'm not sure about the second watch with the off center dials, although I do like this Longines with a "different" layout.

I received my 2005 Rolex Explorer II from Pieces of Time today, and I don't think I'll miss the 1993 model too much. The lume is great, it's not over-polished or beat up, and in the 7 hours since I put it on it hasn't gained or lost more than a 10th of a second! My 1993 turned out to be over-polished with some blunting of the sharp lines on the 7-11 o'clock side lugs, which caused a hit in trade-in value on my end. I took photos before I shipped it, which I compared to the newer watch, and it's true. But, the old one still looked immaculate to me, until an expert looked at it. Someone will get a good deal on the old one if it goes for the $3,600 that I expect him to get for it (I had it appraised for $3,900). My watches that get the most wrist time lately are my Titanium and Stainless Planet Oceans, My Coke GMT II, and my new 216570 Explorer II. But I think this one is going to get a lot of wrist time as well, now that I can read the time in the light or darkness.

Umm, right.
-
I did. If I break my Stainless AW I can get it replaced for $79 instead of $599

That kickstarter for Click adapter is only $1,300 shy of hitting the final stretch, a free extra set made out of the steel or aluminum. I wonder if we'll make it in the final 2 hours remaining (Ends at 4PM EST).

To me those almost don't look like a Speedy anymore. I wonder if it would be better to go with a more rugged Planet Ocean in Blue Ti or do they make the 9300 Speedy thinner and easier to wear than a PO?
