Motorola Krave ZN4 - our family voice plan (5 lines) is on Verizon because they have the best network. I canceled my XV6800 PDA data plan with them in October to pay for the iPhone 3G voice/data instead. I was using an old LG for VZW, but after the $50 rebate it wont cost me anything for the new phone.

I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best. If it sounds better than what I am using now, I guess I wont know what I am missing...

This is worth keeping my eye on for the future. My friend does home theater installations, so if my Jamo or Velodyne 5.1 isn't good enough, I could take the rig over to one of his setups and set it up on a better system.

Did he use it via the 4-pin XLR or the speaker outputs? I was going to plug my SRD-7 Pro into the speaker out, and plug my K1000 pigtail into the back of the SRD-7 Pro - then switch between Stats or K1000 on the loudspeaker setting. Craig said the amp is a lower gain amp, and unless the source/DAC had a high output that it might not power the K1000 very well via the 4-pin XLR. I also plan to use the ZDT 4-pin out with my woodied re-cabled D2000 and HD600, and the 1/4" SE jack for my RS-1, AKG K240M, ATH-ESW10 and HFI-700 among others. So, I can listen to my balanced dynamics, SE dynamics, stats and K1000 with one amp. If it doesn't do the trick for me I would possibly sell it, and then look at a Beta 22 with speaker out, but I prefer tubes. OTOH, if it is good enough I might get rid of the Square Wave XL instead.

I hear that elephant leather isn't worth the trouble of hunting down Elephas, and we should stick with hairless ethiopian sheepskin.

Congrats! If the 2G Touch sounds as good as the iPhone 3G then I know exactly what you mean. My HD600 may not play very loud out of it, but the sound quality is very nice and transparent, and with my Westone ES3X the sound is mesmerizing. It's not quite as good as some DAC/amps off the Macbook, but certainly does not suck at all.

I pre-ordered an EC ZDT a couple of weeks back, so I am looking forward to trying the K1000 with that in about 2 months. I'll be sure to report on it.

It's my mac - with Safari Browser I get an error processing credit card, the Firefox warns me the security certificate may be a fake because it is self-issued.

re: iPod boom - it bugged me tonight when a guy was complaining on head-fi that his ipod via LOD into Grahm Slee NOVO didn't sound any different than this HFI-780 plugged directly into his iPod, and said that all the NOVO did was provide gain for his HD600. I posted that if the goal is to have an amp that is a wire with gain (WWG) then why would he be surprised that is sounds as bad as if listening right out of the iPod? I recommended maybe he consider getting a better source (transport and DAC). As for stats - I got my first rig from plaidplatypus for $235 SR-Lambda with SRD-X, and plugging that into the headphone out of my DV336i was better than plugging the HD600 into the same amp. That started me on this spiral into moar and moar stats...

That's a good question. Maybe you could restate it at the other forum in a way that makes it more clear? I have an Isomax XLR-RCA transformer that is supposed to let me input SE into XLR inputs or the other way around, and I've always wondered how that works too.
