Get rid of the stock cable and the dampening behind the driver, and try them again off the SRD-7 Mk2 with a really nice amp. They can compete with or slightly beat the Lambda Sigs at that point.

With all the issues with iPhone OS 3.1 (people with battery drain in 4-5 hours, no more tethering), I stayed with OS 3.01, hacked my carrier file to ATT_US.ipcc v5.0 to add MMS, then hacked it back to do tethering. Carrier file ATT_US.ipcc v5.5 that comes with 3.1 wont allow tethering, but v5.0 allows the tethering hack and MMS with OS 3.01 (I think carrier file 5.1 wont allow the tethering hack with 3.01). Spritzer, did you really just sell your SR-404 LE, which if I recall you once said was "the first Lambda you might actually keep"?

Tyler, it looks like I'll have a pair on the way. They might get here in time to put 50-75 hours on them before RMAF.

With what existential crisis are you grappling right now?

Nice story, I enjoyed it. -

I told you so. I feel in love with them at the meet in July.

Neat - it would be better than a segway since a disabled person doesn't need to stand (which I can't do when I have a flare up with my chronic tendonitis, arthritis, fibromyalgia or gout). I found this after watching the u3-x video (sounds like a new IEM):

Amp/DAC recommendation for D2000 & DT990
HeadphoneAddict replied to rpaul's topic in Headphone Amplification
Good DACs to pair with Woo for the Grados above, which I have actually heard with the Woo and Grados - and keeping your budget in consideration: Apogee mini-DAC Stello DA100 PS Audio Digital Link III -
Can we trouble you for pics? Thanks!

Amp/DAC recommendation for D2000 & DT990
HeadphoneAddict replied to rpaul's topic in Headphone Amplification
You may find going to a balanced amp with the HD650 could do that for you, something like a Headroom Balanced Desktop amp, or a Beta 22. Sometimes a more powerful single ended amp could do the trick, like maybe a Woo WA6SE or Beta 22 that aren't balanced (the WA6 non-SE version is not my choice for HD650 and needs more power, but is great with HD600/800 which I prefer more than the 650). Or, you could get rid of the D2000 for some D7000 and re-cable them to bring out the detail and extension, or add some Grado HF-2, or sell the D2000 and DT990 and put the money towards some Grado PS-1000. -
I saw that. You also said that your Plinius was malfunctioning, so I was simply offering to loan you a source for CanJam @ RMAF because of that. I'll try to be more clear next time.

Until you confirm the email change to show that your account wasn't hacked, it probably makes sense to lower your privileges. But, unless the confirmation goes to the old email address how do they know the new one is yours too?

Absolutely understand. PS: If you don't like the Cary as the source, I could loan you my Apogee mini-DAC with sigma 11 PSU (n_maher built s11) if you think it might be even slightly better in terms of synergy.

I want to add that they were congested and muddy out of the box, with a little edge/roughness in the highs - I put them in the box and ran music through them for 3 - 3.5 days straight before posting initial impressions. They don't get a good seal without holding them on, so I may have to bend the headband a little to get the cups at the correct angle. They definitely sound better when I press the ear cups onto my head tighter/closer. So far in addition to comparing to the HD25-1 which are better, my son's Alessandro MS-1 and my UF-30 also sound more open than the Zebra Wood phones after 100 hours. But, the zebra wood phones don't suck, they just sound different. The $60 is not wasted, but the other 3 phones can be had for $80-100 and sound better so far. So I would say that the original $199 price was not worth it. With better closed cans to listen to (LA7000, ESW10JPN, HD25-1 and HFI-700DVD) I'm not sure these will get much use. My son wanted some closed cans, so I'm going to pass these on to him after I put another 100 hours on them and see if that helps. I gave away my last set of 120 ohm SFI drivers towards Alex Cavalli's appreciation gifts (along with cable, 1/8" plug and felt), so I'm not making a fosterfone right now.

The vagina or the performance?

Your journey should be just about over then - Congrats! Now you can focus on the music. Will you have this at the CanJam @ RMAF? I would love to hear it, as would others. You should let Sherwood know if you are so he can get you table space. I'll be there with the ZDT and GES running off the PS Audio DAC, with 1-3 dynamic phones and 1-3 stats, and either a Macbook or CD5001 as transport (well, I will bring HEV70 for Dinan to compare to the GES with HE60).

Mine have smoothed out a bit after 75 hours of break-in, and I think they are definitely worth the $60 sale price or maybe even $100. I am not sure if I would have been happy to pay the $199 original price. Probably not, as the HD25-1 II have a better frequency response for $99 if you find a good deal on them. Like the HD25-1 or Ultrasone HFI-780, they have a 1/8" plug with a 1/4" adapter that screws onto threads built into the 1/8" plug. There is a little bit of that "closed" lower mids echoey coloration. Detail is not bad, and guitars seem sharp enough and not blurred. Bass is not lacking or overdone, and not muddy, but it's not as powerful as the Denons. Mids are a little forward and not recessed. There is no sibilance like the HFI-780, but the HFI-780 was still a more exciting or fun phone. Soundstage is not much better than my HD25-1 despite being circumaural, because the inside of the ear cups is so small that my ears barely fit inside and the drivers are still very close to my ears. After 20 minutes my ears already feel hot. So far I have only tried them out of the mini-DAC headphone out (CD5001 transport) and my iBasso D10 out of the Macbook Pro during burn-in. The sound signature pairs up better with my Apogee than the D10 which makes them sound a little darker (but the D10 is tuned to sound best with my custom IEMs). I'll report back later if I can.
