  1. I bought ONE extra that I can sell to you for what I paid plus shipping and paypal fees, but I'd need your shipping address to calculate shipping costs to you overseas. And I'd need to know if you need Priority Mail International or Express Mail International. I would send it as a $100 insured gift. I'd also need a phone number and email address. They will be here Tuesday (each $110 shipped), and since one of my kids is happy with Skullcandy and the other has Westone 1 already, I really only need one of the two pair for the last kid (Xmas). It was just too hard to resist a spare pair for that price. Cheers!
  2. My SR-325i sounded worse with burn-in, as the bass went below the minimum acceptable level for me.
  3. Speaking of the monstrous Focal Grand Utopia - for anyone that heard them at RMAF in October, I and many others thought they sounded dark and muddy in the demo room. But they sound SO much better when properly set up in Dinan's living room rig with his MBL source and amps. The speakers are only on loan to him, but he is a very lucky guy to get to listen to them regularly. Too bad the Edition 8 don't really sound that good, or I would have bought a pair in a heartbeat. Fortunately, an O2 on a 717 amp does get closer, except for the smaller soundstage (Dinan's stat rig, but in a different room).
  4. I seem to recall that they do the serial number on the right in red, and in blue on the left if that helps.
  5. I'm curious, do you use the analog outputs of the Cary, or use it as a transport for a DAC? My CD5001 is only being used as a transport, although the RCA outputs are pretty decent when all I had was the CD5001 fed into a DV336i. I got the Apogee mini-DAC at the same time as my WA6, and it was quite an upgrade and fantastic with my JH13Pro. No hiss, hum or noise at all - just sweet music.
  6. It may have gotten hit by some static and just needed to reset itself. Anyways, the CD5001 is not a bad backup player, and I've been very happy with mine for 2 years now.
  7. When I tried the CD3000 with the 336i I had a Sylvania VT-231 in front and Tung Sol 5998 in the rear, which was great for my HD600 but it was too bright and nasal sounding with the CD3000. I suspect that my RCA or Hytron brown-base 5692 paired with the Tung Sol might have been a better match for the CD3000, as that combo helped tame the highs in my Grado RS-1 and gave them a fuller sound when using bowls for their bigger soundstage (bowls make RS-1 brighter and thinner sounding, and the 5692 helped with that). I still think the WA6 with an Amperex GZ34 rectifier would be a better choice than the 336i. An M^3 with bass boost might also be good with CD3000 since it was good with W5000.
  8. As stated above, the WA6 would be nice depending on the tubes, and I found an Amperex Bugle Boy GZ34 in my WA6 made Blutarsky's CD3000 sound better than with his ZD which sounded more SS and colder to me with the CD3000 (but the ZD was tuned perfect with HD650). Based on that, I'm guessing the Cavalli CTH or Head-direct EF1 with a Mullard 12AU7 would do the trick as well.
  9. The Ultrasones are fun cans but not something I want to listen to day in and day out. The Proline 2500 were probably the more balanced ones out of those I've heard, but they sound a bit recessed in the mids and also needed a fairly warm colored amp to bring out their best (TTVJ portable Millett Hybrid was a great match). The HFI-780 were fairtly bass heavy and somewhat sibilant. The only ones I have now are the HFI-700DVD that are closer to the Pro 2500 than the 780's. If you like the 325i and want lighter, then I would consider the HF-1, RS-2 or RS-1. I have to warn you the stock cable sucks and I found that those are less congested sounding with an APS V3 cable (I put one on all three of those). I also feel that my HF-2 are not as heavy my old SR-325i even though they have metal cups (although I have not directly compared them and could be wrong), so you might consider those which I do like more than the HF-1 or RS-2. My APS V3 cabled RS-1 are a little better, but more expensive.
  10. You could always move the handgun to inside the waistband, or on the ankle, or in a pocket. I carry any of those ways depending on my mood or how I'm dressed. I have a nice Milt Sparks VersaMax II that allows tucking in a shirt over the holster/pistol so something like that is an option.
  11. Maybe Boomana will want them?
  12. Try clicking on the photos. NVM - video presentation is better... http://www.tantrachair.com/videopresentation.html
  13. That is a nice feature, and good no know about it. The AMP3 has that capability, but I am not impressed with the UI, the slow speed to initialize the library when using an 8GB micro-SD to augment the 4GB internal memory, or the extra hiss with sensitive IEM. Is the Clip+ a hisser or silent?
  14. Naamanf's W5000 did not sound good on my Woo WA6 at all, no synergy there (was even worse with the DV336i). They were much better on Naamanf's M^3 with bass control. The AD2K were much better to my ears, and only a little different sounding from my ESW10JPN. I thought the AD2K were too close to my HD600 to keep, but I would guess you'd like them more. If you get the W5000 you will likely begin a new journey to find the right amp that synergizes with them.
  15. Joost Wow! Ken beleeb at chee zo baaad
  16. It sounded to me more like the issue is that they smell like cigarettes and so they are a bio-hazard, and not that they are covered in tar and nicotine that caused them to fail. Maybe I read it wrong, and I agree with the "you break it, you pay for it" philosophy. But does smelling like a cigarette disqualify one from repairs? I hate cigarettes, I have a lung disease that brings my oxygen levels to the high 80's, high 70's on a flight of stairs. I avoid smoke every chance I can. But I don't see why a smokey computer can't be fixed by a guy wearing a mask and gloves, or a bunny suit as we call them. It seems to me that it's more of that liberal green BS, that they are so special and above stooping to that level, so they rob the consumer of their rights.
  17. Sorry for the crappy photo. My NAD 533 with NAD PP2 preamp and Ortofon M2 Blue cart, EC ZDT amp with SRD-7 Mk2 SB transformer, Apogee mini-DAC with Nugget Audio Sigma 11 PSU, Samsung DVD transport, DLO Homedock HD with HDMI, Sharp Aquos 19" HDTV, HD800 phones, Stax O2 Mk1 in the case next to the rig. I'm thinking I might return the NAD PP2 and get a nicer preamp, but I still have 3 weeks to decide. I can't really DIY, so I'd be looking at a budget preamp already built. Wasn't sure it was worth it with the TT and cartridge that I have. The reviews of those has been good, but I would trust the opinions here more.
  18. That's bull shit - I'd sue.
  19. He did kinda answer the question himself. As far as DACs go, I still think I like my Apogee mini-DAC the most, it was just that the PS Audio DLIII just had better synergy with O2 Mk1 on the GES because it was brighter in 192Khz up-sampling mode. At RMAF I realized just how much the PS Audio can improve with the Cullen mods, when using a very revealing amp and phones to compare the stock PSA and a modded one. Stock it just doesn't have the refinement of the Apogee, and after that I moved the Apogee into my main rig with the ZDT amp, which is awaiting the Woo WES to come join it (a better match for the O2). I just can't say how much better the Apogee would be over the HR Home DAC built into the HR Max Desktop amp. The Apogee certainly will be cheaper than a Cullen modded PS Audio, unless you go for the Firewire option in the Apogee. The Pico DAC is excellent for a USB only DAC, and Iron_Dreamer sold me his old Apogee simply because he felt the Pico DAC/amp's USB performance matched or exceeded the Apogee's (using Pico as a DAC/preamp). I was never able to say the Pico was better, but the differences are small enough that I never felt the need to rank them. I do think the Pico DAC-only is slightly more transparent with slightly more micro-detail than the DAC/amp used as a preamp, and it very well could outperform the HR DAC when using USB.
  20. I have Audacity to record (free) and I am going to try my GEMSound USB A/D this weekend with my Macbook Pro. You could try that. My A/D box came with Soundsoap 2 SE to clean up the pops and crackles if needed, so that might be fun to try too. Don't know if it will muck up the sound or not, or if is even worth the $49 it would cost if it didn't come with the GEMSound for free. I doubt it will sound as good as the Apogee A/D.
  21. In the WES that I bought there is no SE input or phase splitter, so if I need to feed it single ended I'll use my Jensens Transformers ISOmax to convert the SE to balanced (like if I want to use my TT). And, my DAC is balanced so I'm all set. You should maybe give one of these a try sometime, as it works well and is very transparent.
  22. You missed out on a good opportunity because I sold a spare ALO iMod 22g cryo LOD with optional charging port (discontinued) and 5v regulated power brick to Golden Ears at RMAF for $50, including shipping the charger after the meet. So, he can listen to the iMod without running down the battery.
  23. Good thing you didn't say "nubile" young body.
