  1. audionut, that's great information. I want to add that for the year that I owned ESP-950 with stax cable (bought from Spritzer) that I never had any squealing issues when used with SRM-1 Mk2 Pro, Woo GES, SRD-7 Pro, or E90 with adapter. It only seems to be some ESP-950 that do this, but not all of them. I really wonder why that is?
  2. PS Audio Perfectwave DAC, thanks Mike!
  3. I'm in the same boat with a pair of their Rocket Onyx subs. It's a shame, but if Mark really did what they accuse him of doing then he deserves what he gets from the court.
  4. I'll bet they'll jack up the price when it ships, and wont honor the $15 price.
  5. Actually, the UE11Pro demo at CanJam did not have as much bass as my fully fitted UE11Pro, which I suspect is just the way they sound when used with universal fit tips. He said they told him that after being fitted that "they would have twice as much bass", and I agree with that. The UE11Pro do have more bass than the JH13Pro or ES3X, being at or above the level of bass from the W3 with universal tips (W3 with UM56 tips actually tames their bass a little). I've not heard the Super.fi 5 EB so I can't comment on that. But I think the UE11Pro will probably be enough bass for him.
  6. Happy birthday!
  7. I get so much f'ing crap from someone here when I suddenly have money for something I couldn't afford before, that I try to make sure he knows I wasn't lying about not having the money without selling something. Can't please anyone I suppose.
  8. I love that clip. Bitchin' speakers, I have a pair myself. Not.
  9. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback on it. Mike isn't sure if he is selling yet, but he is considering it. I sent an email to Paul McGowen at PS Audio to make sure I that still have a warranty if Mike decides to sell and I buy it. I have over half the money now for a new one, and the rest will be here between the 23rd and 26th with our tax refund. Having already sold the Pico and Predator really helped raise funds for this. I'm keeping the Apogee mini-DAC for my bedroom rig, and not sure what I'll do with the DLIII (and I'm still getting the Slim). If I do get this PWD I will have to forget about a phono preamp for a while, so I can still get an implant for the cracked molar that I needed removed. I did think the PS Audio DLIII in 96K up-sampling mode sounded exactly like a Stello DA100 Signature in a 2-3 hour side-by-side comparison, although I still prefer my Apogee mini-DAC/S11 PSU. I'm not sure I would have called DLIII mediocre, except that the jitter with Apple TV was bad and the Cullen stage IV that someone brought to RMAF sounded a bit better (more refined and spacious, less edgy).
  10. Ron at Liquid HiFi is offering me a killer price on the PWD that is good through the end of the month, so I may have to make a decision sooner (unless I buy Tyrion's if the warranty is transferable). I appreciate any advice you can offer. Can you basically tell me if it's worth trying to buy one in the $1900-$2150 price range? I read elsewhere that the jump from stock Digital Link III to Cullen Stage IV is bigger than the jump from Stage IV to PWD (by someone who is selling his DLIII stg IV and keeping PWD). I have to decide if I will sell the DLIII and get PWD, or just mod the DLIII which will cost me half as much out of pocket as the the PWD deal in the end.
  11. Hi Monkey, I would love to read more of your impressions on the Perfectwave DAC if you are willing. Thanks.
  12. The JH13Pro sound fantastic with the Woo WA6, and the volume control is very precise at very low volumes, with no imbalance as you approach zero. I had the TTVJ portable Millett Hybrid amp but it's almost too noisy for very sensitive IEM, and the volume knob has channel imbalance until the knob is at 9 o'clock, and that is too loud to go to sleep listening.
  13. Best video game controller ever:
  14. A similar theme, missing the action?
  15. A dozen roses and 2 lbs of dark chocolate truffles.
  16. This one is for Spritzer (Pearls Before Swine cartoon)
  17. Well, for me I prefer my HE60 on the WES over the Jade, as the WES finally gives the HE60 some balls. When I want something fuller and more lush with even stronger bass I go for the O2 Mk1. In the bedroom rig, I tend to grab the Jade before the Lambdas or Smegma Pro.
  18. That's kinda cool, following for now.
  19. We were sad here too. My 12 year old son and I enjoy watching TV together, and that was one of his favorite shows. I assume the blood thinners from the Pulmonary Embolism put him at risk for the stroke (if it was a brain bleed and not a clot).
  20. I'm starting to wonder if Naamanf and I have the only really nice sounding Jade out there or something. I own Naamanf's O2 Mk1 because he liked the Jade more (although his K1000 on his B22 were even better). Our Jades are both very similar to the O2 Mk2 with ear pad spring mod - more mids and treble than Mk1, with same midbass hump, although with a wider but less deep soundstage than the O2 Mk2. I prefer the deeper soundstage of the O2 Mk1 myself. Nevertheless, I really want to get a Stax cable installed on them, and maybe someday I'd re-house the drivers if the headband or forks fail.
  21. That was great how the two videos came together like that. I can't imagine how much work that stop motion animation took to make either.
  22. Very good suggestions. Pandora"s Star/Judas Unchained work really well on their own as a 2 book series, and the Void Trilogy takes place hundreds of years later with the 3rd and final book still due August 2010. I liked the author enough to read his older Nights Dawn Trilogy" after the above, which isn't bad but not quite as good and actually just slightly weird but fun to read anyway. Another suggestion is Larry Niven and Ed Lerner "Destroyer of Worlds", and the 2 books preceding it "Fleet of Worlds" and "Juggler of Worlds", which weren't as good but should be read in order I suppose (although Destroyer seemed to work well on it's own). And there a whole bunch of shorter Known Space novels that Dusty mentioned by Niven, which precede these latest 3.
  23. The app Print n Share for Advanced printing is a partial solution to printing with touch/iphone, using the computer on your wifi network as a print server.
  24. Killer hi-fi rig there.
  25. Was it the movie "Yes Man" where the guy and the girl (Jim Carey, Zooey Deschanel) get suited up in those skate-suits and went rocketing down hill at the end of the movie?
