You can make custom presets to limit how much scaling the screen has to do and to keep the file size reasonable. Usually if you rip at 720 x 480 (or anamorphic) at 1,500 - 1,800 kbps your full size movie might take 1.0 - 1.3 Gb and still look decent on a 40" TV as well as the iPad. I also make a smaller 480 x 320 or similar file at 500 kbps for my iPhone and Nano, which only take 400-700 Mb space and can fit on a CDROM.

That's great, thanks for that link!

My Subaru Tribeca radio head unit can't be replaced with an aftermarket, due to the dashboard design, and mine doesn't have an aux input. So I am forced to use an FM transmitter. NONE of the many that I have tried from Belkin, Kensington and Griffin are powerful enough to be properly picked up properly by the Tribeca's radio, except for the Monster. I hate to recommend Monster, but if you must use an FM transmitter it seems to be the best I have found. The sound is about as good as you'd expect. But, if your Subaru can accept an aftermarket deck with aux in, I would go for that and not repair the stock one. I'm about ready to buy a 4-channel amp and a switch to let me either use my iPod with LOD/Amp to feed the speakers, or the stock radio to power the speakers. But, my wife will take over this car in April and I'll be getting a new Subaru with aux in, while she doesn't care about iPod inputs.

What I don't understand is why the eXStatA with it's "1% distortion" still drives my O2 Mk1 better than either of my previous SRM-1 Mk2 Pro ever could. The SRM-1 Mk2 Pro with O2 Mk1 or Mk2 was soft and muted with them, and had to be cranked to max yet still had poor dynamics and drive with either O2. The T1 and GES drove the O2 Mk1 much better than the SRM-1 Mk2 Pro, but I still don't think they could match the SRM-717 with them. Those two still sounded soft around the edges with the 02, and needed more power, while the 717 could play loud, fast and dynamic with them (but still sounded detailed, spacious, warm and crisp at the same time). Not having compared them side by side, I still felt that my experience with the O2/eXStatA was similar to my short experience with the O2/717. I really liked the 717, but I also really like my hybrid eXStatA. I suppose I'll need to find a way to listen to someone else's 717 side by side with my eXStatA some day and see what I think then. Aren't there different types of distortion, when one kind is more musical than the other? Is that the case with the eXStatA? Either way, I still find the eXStatA enjoyable to listen to.

Reset your network settings on the iPad and try again. It should stay fixed after that.

Oh noes, Asr doesn't hate the Asgard yet. I'm hoping he'll bring it to the Colorado meet next month, just to hear it out of curiosity.

We still have 2 pair of NB Lambda, while the 2 Lambda Pro and 1 Lambda Sig are gone... Great phones.

Why is Apple not in their company list?

I made a down payment with Liquid HiFi on June 28th, thinking it would ship by mid to late July.

The HE-5 LE definitely like a powerful amp. I'm really liking the SAC KH1000 amp with them, although it's not as cheap or easy to buy as the Asgard. The Nuforce HDP is pretty good with the HE-5 LE as well, and the EF5 works well with them too, but these are more expensive amps which might make the Asgard a better bargain. As for the Bridge, why are they bringing in more beta testers when it's supposed to be shipping very soon now? I've already made a deposit with Liquid HiFi 2 weeks ago. Feel free to PM me if this is too off topic.

Well, Bianca Carlson says I'm in the exact same room at the Marriott that I had last year. Weird. I should know soon if the extra spot in the room is taken by Bluto, or if it's available for someone else.

All Apple needs to do is put a non-conductive coating on the external antennae, which I think they should have done before shipping these. With my Gelli case I can still make the phone drop to 3 bars by covering the lower left corner with my hand in the "grip of death", but it doesn't affect calls or data speed like holding it without the case. It's true that all phones have an area where you can interfere with the antenna reception a bit, just not as badly as an unprotected iPhone 4. I also noticed that when using the JH13Pro cable with my Casemate Gelli case, that it does push or distort the shape of the case right around the headphone jack a little bit in order to get the plug fully seated, but it's not so stiff that it wont let me plug in the earphones.

I'll be there for Saturday and Sunday, arriving friday evening with my 12 yr old son. If Blutarsky isn't staying with us I think we could make room for one person from out of state to stay for free for 2 nights, either in the other bed or the floor. I need to check with Bluto and also see if my son will share my bed or sleep on his thermarest pad on the floor. I'm working on getting a room now.

Bummer.

The Casemate Gelli case has a very large headphone opening and will accept plugs from my JH13Pro and my Whiplash audio TWag cable, it just wont accept the 1/8" plug that APS uses on some of my full size phones.

Yeah, but does it sound good? I read a lot of praise for the Clip+. Can you tell me the differences? Thanks!

Nice deal - if I wasn't already running a pair of the older 802.11n Extreme I'd consider this. I have one set as a 5Ghz 802.11 n-only. The other is set up as a 2.4 Ghz 802.11n/g/b for all the other non-n gear.

Assemblage 2.6/2.7 and Icarium rants
HeadphoneAddict replied to dreamwhisper's topic in Home Source Components
NoNoNoNoNoNo has not been greedy at all with casing up my SS eXStatA. It was mostly complete 2 months ago except for the Amati attenuator which is fried, and he wont let me send a final payment until it is done and ready to ship. I too wish him the best and wish people might cut him a little slack. (I also hope Marc can resurrect the attenuator soon, since I need the amp for our CO meet next month) -
Assemblage 2.6/2.7 and Icarium rants
HeadphoneAddict replied to dreamwhisper's topic in Home Source Components
It seems that NoNoNoNoNoNo is having some financial issues and had to sell both of his stacker II amps (one from dBel) and his Assemblage 2.7, out of necessity and not greed. I wasn't aware that was not allowed. I am confused about his not knowing if it was modded or not.
